That's not Howls Moving Castle.

>not kiki

Agreed. Moving Castle is excellent.

2nd best after Whisper of the Heart.

Castle in the Sky is my favorite so far. Spirited Away is a close second

Low tier Ghibli movie, why is it so fucking popular? "lol I was the prince the whole time and got a war started, thanks for the kiss!"

I means I like every Ghibli movie, but Howls has Ponyo tier writing.

>my favorite so far

Finish your backlog already, that or I have some bad news for you...

>ywn rape princess mononoke.
My earliest sexual fantasy.

Because the best Gibli movie is When Marnie was There.

Ponyo was a good movie though.

Oi, if you guys don't think Porco Rosso is the hottest shit. You can get out of my sky desu senpai.

As a huge aviator fan myself something about this film absolutely captures me. This is actually one of my favorite films of all time.

castle in the sky

most of Ghibli's films are pretty good though.

This, also Kiki and Porco Rosso visually

The best part of Whisper of the Heart is the John Denver cover. Overall it was kinda mediocre.

Any movie with Gibli charm is more than mediocre

Maybe I should say as far as Ghibli movies go, Whisper of the Heart was mediocre.

Also, I would totally join in for an "Sup Forums sings" if we did Country Roads

Seriously fuck all of you for not throwing out Totoro. Nostalgia wins every time.

Most overrated Ghibli movie?

Grave of the Fireflies

Valley of the Wind, if it counts as a Ghibli film, otherwise Kiki.

Howl is the cutest Ghibli boy

Chihiro is one of the most developed Ghibli characters. The setting and visual are absolutely beautiful. Sound track is top tier. Nothing is overrated about it. You're trying too hard to be a contrarian, user.

It's a Miyazaki movie for sure, and Ghibli now owns the rights to it. But it was not produced by Ghibli. I think the movie gets over looked a lot because the manga is more complete and arguably a better story, since the movie came out before the mango was even finished. It is still great in its own right, though.

Castle in the Sky!

Was Mononoke Hime for or against technology?

Is he a wizard?

I feel like a huge faggot for liking these movies as much as I do.

>turns ginger
>becomes depressed
It's like he knows.

I don't think it was supposed to be as black and white as that technology is bad. Eboshi comes off as evil at first with her use of guns and mining of ore, but it shows that she cares about the lepers and whores who everyone else ostracized.

Didn't his hair turn black?

That's why I was asking, the whole movies seems to be message-heavy, but I just cannot decypher what was it meant to convey.

And I don't mind morally ambiguous messages, I just doubt this carried one.

Dubs confirm

He turned ginger, became depressed about being ugly and then his hair turned black. I remember the fake laughter and real tears.

I think the point is that it isn't black and white, but gray. You're supposed to put your bias aside and look for the good and the bad in people.

I think it had two ideologies:

1. Don't fuck the environment (I mean of course, it's a Miyazaki film).

2. In war each side just wants to protect their own and can learn to coexist.

Mononoke and Nauscia.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but I'm quite sure that most of its villans didn't really have any redeeming qualities, nor were they gray by nature.

That's kind of the issue with the first one, the people did benefit from the destruction of forest and creating of villages, thus the lepers. The pro-enviroment message was very strong, but it was conflicting at best.

But at the end they decided that they could find another way to live.

That's right, you're a huge faggot and should definitely consider killing yourself for liking anything that even comes close to popular. It's not like a large amount of people enjoy them because they're good, it must be because the masses are mindless sheep that flock to the closest common denominator.

Did I miss any buzzwords?

>most of its villans didn't really have any redeeming qualitie
The only real villain was Jiko, since it was him who lead the hunt for the forest spirit. But he starts off shown as a good guy when Ashitaka first met him. I guess the no-name villains like the samurai and other hunters weren't shown to have redeeming qualities, but they weren't really characters and more of plot devices.

That's not The Wind Rises my boy.

excellent choice

Why is a yuru yuri kissing a BOY?

We had this thread last night. If your answer isn't a flying pig, you're fucking wrong, no debate because a pig's gotta fly.

Kiki, Cagliostro, Nausicaa and Fireflies are honorable mentions.

God Warriors are cool!
