Kara no Kyoukai/Boundary of the Void

Every shot in these movies seemed to drip with meaning and was visually interesting. I love the red coloured jacket of Shiki that was always framed off to the side of shots unless it was action, which is an obvious allusion to blood and death. I love the creative use of rain on many occasions to draw out emotion. I love the positioning of Shiki's mystic eyes of death whenever they are in shot and how her dagger is always normally consistently low and off to the side, belying her subtle yet dangerous nature. I loved every camera shot framing Shiki in her apartment with Mikiya and how you could see their relationship shifting depending on their position and how Shiki was positioned on the bed. God it was fantastic. It really helped enhance an already stand-out show and deliver extra meaning above and beyond what was necessary.

Let's have a talk about it.

I was certain it's English name is Garden of Sinners if that's what you were going for.

that shot when shiki jumps from building to building in overlooking view man, that's work of art

KnK threads rarely if ever gain any traction, sadly. It's one of my favorites.

It's nice.

Should have make it focused on the action and horror side of things instead of pseudo-philosophical presented in cringey narration and dialogues, then it's definitely the least shit TM work.

>Should have catered to my ADD tastes and been action schlock instead of an interesting metaphysical/psychological film series.

>I'm an idiot!

I think Kara no Kyoukai is the best thing ever. I've seen the movies for almost a 10th time already and I can never get enough of them.

Got pic related recently. I watched the movies up to Paradox Spiral today. I'll watch the rest next week I guess. It's only a DVD release so the quality is obviously not so good which is a shame.

The box also included some post cards and small artbook with Takeuchis drawings. Overall it's really nice.

Well, come people, me included, liked the movies because of that. I would not have it any other way.

>shameitsonlyDVD
From what I hear, the BDs were just DVD upscales anyway. The quality is almost the same.

Nahh we had our great threads years ago, around 4 to be exact we were crunching the theory and law out since the wiki wasn't up yet.

A lot of people were able to understand the movies better due to the cross references.

>call people for ADD
>when you let whatever you watched pass through and thought it's actually deep.
here's you're smug redman.

i havent finished it yet but i really liked the first 3 ovas

Fifth one is the best

Also movies no OVAs

I feel like this is the best thing I've ever watched.

Just got around reading the novels recently, and it's still refreshing.

I liked them, but they came to me as something visually appealing that tried to covey a message to the audience in a inefficient way. In the end it came to me as pretentious in some parts with pseudo-philosophy speeches that made me replay the scene a few times before giving up.
DonĀ“t get me wrong, it was really fun, visually gorgeous and that fucking OST was out-fucking-standing.

Kara no Kyoukai has very efficient characterization, since its characters are constructed to mirror each other in so many ways.

Best couple got best daughter. Best daughter got her best future husband.

VA of best couple got married.

Why is everything gone right?

Garden of Sinners is just a subtitle.

...

The movies adapt very poorly the novels. Cutting content and re-writing it.

Though they still deliver the message, like.. good enough.

you sure showed him

It was very well animated, though the story wasn't that exceptional (besides the sixth movie, or whichever the one was set in the school, which was outright shit).

Maybe I should rewatch it, I only remember the one with notShirou and the spiral staircase and the one with the bomber.

That was the case with the big box set BDs, dunno if they changed them for the newer non limited box set that has Mirai Fukuin in it

That's why you read novel and then watch corresponding movie

Her feet must be so stinks when she's not wearing socks. I wonder how her toenails smell ?

the music for this scene is my absolute favorite for the entire series. The voices coming in at this specific moment just gave me chills.

Oblivion recorder was very good and great from a writing point of view it was a breather from the others and it focused on things that shoul've been forgotten. The main point(while still hiding itself) is Kokuto's state of mind, something we go on to learn fully in the epilogue when Void says it, Kokuto is the one that's all alone, it was never about Shiki.

The others weren't very good in adapting the novel but Oblivion recorder was butchered. Still it worked very well as a breather and as a prologue for the last movie, all while presenting a fun self-contained story that doesn't overwhelm the reader/viewer after the clusterfuck of Spiral Paradox

seriously, this chorus is amazing

You see this? This is how you do more than say "it's good I guess."

Nasu will never write this good again.
