Can a guy like shoujo anime and manga?

Can a guy like shoujo anime and manga?

You're a faggot if you don't.

Not all shoujo is super gay.

don't be stupid

Real men read shojo

every guy should watch/read at least one shoujo

My favourite manga is Shoujo, so yes.

Shoujo sometimes has better romance story than Shonen, so yes, they can just like the girls.

A real man should at least watch/read at least one of every genre. This includes Yaoi and Bara.

You say it like that's some sort of accomplishment

>Not fawning over Usui.
What are you, a faggot?

I'd say about 1 out of 100 shoujo mangas are worth a read, but the rest of them end up being Fujoshit and over-saturated pages of roses and sparkly shit.

Ore monogatori was decent, and iirc Horimiya is shoujo as well. There's a few others i've read that i'm missing.

Only if he likes love triangles. I hate them so I'm fucked

>Shoujo sometimes has better romance story than Shonen
Not surprising considering Shoujo is more romance oriented.
Romance in shounen tend to be just so that the MC has a girl, and these days it mostly come down to harems.

Shoujo tends to be rather stupid, but when they nail down the romance it's really nice.

If you haven't seen Utena, you don't belong on Sup Forums.

This looks like yaoi senpai

Shoujo don't oversexualize their females

Taiyou no Ie is one of my favorite manga and it's about as shoujo as you can get.
I think in general good shoujo manga are quite well received on Sup Forums.

I prefer the journey (shonen) to the mutual relationship, but the MC always picks worst girl anyway, so I lose regardless

That is no excuse for manshoulders

Only if he's a faggot

Maybe, but shoujo females tend to be hopeless, whereas in modern shounen manga female characters tend to be rather cool - plenty of times cooler than the useless MCs.

I think in general no one on Sup Forums pays attention to good or bad shoujo manga.

You mean provide fap bait?

...

Mahou shoujo can be good, but regular shoujo is always nothing but a cringeworthy collection of generic clichés, self-insert main girls blushing at anything and everything the bad boy love interest says, lolrandumxD chibi faces, MISUNDERSTANDINGS and forced drama.

Power!! is pretty much the only example I've seen of a shoujo manga that actually has some entertainment value other than shitty romance for little girls to squee over.

>mahou shoujo vs "regular shoujo"
What? You sound like you have fucking no idea what you're talking about.

Nah, you're just a faggot trying too hard to fit in.

>Power!! is pretty much the only example I've seen of a shoujo manga that actually has some entertainment value other than shitty romance for little girls to squee over.
Then you haven't read or watched this.

Nothing wrong some decent romance. If it has one. I've enjoyed a few that do. But the MC in some ridiculous situation and potential love interests with stupidly exaggerated traits isn't exclusive to things written for guys.

What I dislike about a lot of shoujo are rather consistent aspects I see in the art. Flat drawings, huge focus on characters, crappy backgrounds, bubbles everywhere, and tremendous screentone usage.

Are you an edgelord?

You can but at least try to read some actual good titles instead garbage like this.

>implying Sailor Moon/CCS and shit like Kodocha/Kamisama Hajimemashita are the same
They're for the same demographic and have some shared aspects, but mahou shoujo are much more entertaining for all audiences since they tend to have a plot that goes beyond revolving around generic relationship drama.

No, I just need more than bubbles, chibis and blushes to be entertained.

Also orange thread

on air on 3/7

josei

I actually really like the bubbles. It can go well with the more cluttered paneling/layout approach that a lot of shoujo and josei take.

Apparently you never received basic fiction training, so I'll inform you that those are what are known as different genres, and that there are a lot more than two of them. Or are you about to tell me that Kodocha and Basara are the same because they're both shoujo but not mahou shoujo?

Of course not. What are you, gay? The only non-degenerate genre for guys to read is BL.

It's actually not, that's a misconception because certain third-party sites made a mistake about the magazine's demographic for a long time. You can check the publisher's website, they clearly mark Cookie as a shoujo magazine.

>those are what are known as different genres
Yeah, that happens to be what I said. Keep being a butthurt contrarian because people don't like your generic self-insert shoujo, though.

Did you just try to claim that all shoujo is either romcom or mahou shoujo?

==/ OFFICIAL HOLY TRINITY OF SHOUJO /==

VERSAILLES NO BARA

KARE KANO

ORANGE

Why is this manga highly praised?

It's honestly a mixed bag for me. Shoujo has the benefit of actually being focused on romance, but that often leads to the author pulling out seriously stupid drama bullshit ranging from MISUNDERSTANDINGS to the plot becoming a near reverse harem as multiple guys fall for the MC.

Shonen of course appears to be at a disadvantage because it's not focused on the romance, but that oftentimes sweeps away the annoying drama that comes along with it. A well done shonen romance is a wonderful thing to behold.

But yeah, the majority of times it's just some one-personality girl for the MC to hook up with.

I was reading this and enjoying it, but then the female lead just kept getting more and more annoying about moving out and not confessing to the guy for nothing more than drama.

Then the brother was revealed to have a crush on her too and that crossed the line. Dropped. Why does EVERY GUY in the manga have a fucking crush on this girl. I don't watch haremshit and I'm sure not going to read reverse haremshit.

It got less gay as it went on but I really just loved it for its music and atmosphere. 10/10 audiovisual stimulation

Did you just get butthurt at the truth and make an ass out of yourself? Yes, yes you did.

I don't think this was aimed at a shoujo audience.

Shonen romance isnt as bad as Shoujo but I guess its demographics as men are totally fine with the male protagonist to "consider his options" as Shoujo "part time Sempai" comes across as cheating.

Then again, Shoujo really have some abusive relationships, like Hot Gimmick but then again, its not like thats a Japan only thing, western novels are fulled of that type of behavior anyway.

If it's a good one, yeah

Fuck, that Fifty Shades of Gray schlock some years back was literally nothing but some weird hot guy abusing his lover and females everywhere masturbated themselves dry to that shit.

>Orange

That's a pretty shitty one

The only thing I dislike more than harems are reverse harems

I find it difficult to empathize with the characters when they're constantly making poor decisions and revealing themselves as awful people

someone recommend me some good shoujo, and tell me why it's good

No. There are entire sites dedicated to cataloguing manga by its genre and content tags, fucking use them or else go to /wsr/.

I dislike how Shoujo tends to portray the guy as flawless alphas.

What about your dad?

>Seinen
>Romance

There you go. As always results may vary but this combination is almost always better than shoujo.

90% of the time that'll get you either haremshit or some random thing that happens to have a minor romantic subplot.

As long as its not forced

Is there any shoujo with cute romance and comedy like Nozaki-kun or Oresama Teacher?

I do

Or comfy shoujo like Nukoduke!

Sure

But you can't like Shonen.

I haven't seen/read this, but I thought this guy was a big Adachifag?

Maybe, but shoujo, moreso than shounen, mostly because they are based on relationship, adds unnecessary drama in order to have a plot to the manga.

The only shojo I can ever stomach

mostly because the MC isn't some whiny pussy bitch

He is. He comments on how brilliant the man is in making a series with both Shonen and Shojo elements.

How often is the MC in shoujo a whiny pussy? The big cliche is muh strong brash girl who goes against the popular clique.

Only if the MC like Momoka.

How could the readers self-insert if the MC actually was an interesting and well-made character?

Liking shoujo is fine. Unironically thinking Maid-sama is a good manga/anime on the other hand..

Goals.

>one of the best written Shoujo with well collaborated plot
>semi-complex story telling similar to Tri-gun
>elaborated world- building
A reminder that Immortal Rain should have had its own anime.

Yeeeeeeah

It was pretty decent, but towards the end everything kind of spiraled out of control and I didn't even understand what was going on.

Feels like the author had big ideas but couldn't flesh them out properly by the end of the manga.

Haru was kind of really fucking insane and resulted to violence when he got jealous even a tiny bit, though.

Yamaguchi was best boy, anyways. Haru a shit.

The overall story which is Rain and the immortal's conflict came to a straight end, but the origin is somewhat left unknown.
But yeah I think it is either that, or the author meant to conclude that detail about ancient past and such as ambiguous since she only wanted to focus on Rain and Machika's adventure. I really enjoyed it, I wish it could have been longer and handled a bit heavier (even thought it's a shoujo )

MAID-SAMA IS SHIT

SHIIIIIIT

Josei and in eternal hiatus

>Orange
For fuck's sakes user

Who was it aimed at then?

I know tons of guys who watch sailor moon, so I think anything can appeal to shonen demographic if you put battles in it

Yeah of course.

Sukitte il na yo but Shoujo's are so inconsistent, I loved Sukitte but two others I watched Ao Haru and Wolf Girl and Black Prince were complete fucking horse shit.

No. It's not allowed. The anime police will arrest you for liking things outside your demographic.

Shoujo can be amazing. Like Yona or Natsume.

>the only example I've seen of a shoujo manga that actually has some entertainment value other than shitty romance for little girls to squee over.

Oh and it's not shoujo but josei, but 7 seeds is probably the best manga I've ever read.

It was shoujo for like five chapters, that's close enough.

>Having shit taste, complaining about his own shit taste.
Someone is compensating

Did they fuck?

I like subtle romance a lot more than some overdramatic bullshit shoved into your face. Oremonogatari is probably the most I can handle.

I own and read the first volume of Shinshi Doumei Cross. MC was pretty enjoyable. Didn't read any further though.

They married. So yes?

Akagami no Shirayukihime gave me diabet

YES.
Guy who likes shoujo =10/10

Good shoujo is better than good shonen, so yeah.

I get the impression it's the most well done of one of the schlockiest genre set-ups you'll find. So best of a bad bunch. But hey, what would I know?

I find the best shoujo usually have a male protagonist.

Fruits Basket is still #1 despite not having one though.

I've seen Super Lovers to fill the yaoi quota but I'm not actually gay so not sure if I could handle bara

No such thing m8

At least you didn't say objectify
