What happens during sex with girl-type Ranma while in transition to boy-type Ranma?

you become one.

through dick, unity

I love that Ranma keeps gaining fans

It was my first anime as a kid (not counting things like Voltron that were actually broadcast in the US)

To watch it I had to mail order VHS tapes that cost ~$30 for 3ep. I loved it whenever my parents would send me to San Francisco to visit family and I could buy bootlegs from sketchy little Asian stores.

God I feel old

>other takahashi's welcome
I just started watching Urusei Yatsura. And I'm torn between downloading the BD or some shitty other release. I have shit internet so the 2gb files are taking forever. Pray for me.

Am praying. Don't get the release on nyaa. dumb translations. this should be "Out with the devils in with the blessings"

There is something ironic about one of the best girls in anime being a dude

It's the only release I could find. The DVD release looks terrible in comparison. Sigh.

Girl Ranma has such innocent eyes. I want to dump water from the Pot of Preservation on her, destroy the Kettle of Liberation, and take her virginity as she realizes she's stuck as a sexy, rapeable girl forever.

Your home is that way, Ryoga

>walks in opposite direction

fuck, marry, kill

In that order.

Kill Shampoo
Marry Ukyo
Fuck Akane, I guess.

UKYO BEST
MARRY THEN TENDER LOVE
IGNORE EVERYONE ELSE

god, those fucking VHSes. Early licensed anime was such a racket. I can still hear Venus Terzo going "only 29.99, and that's for TWO episodes!!!" as if $15 per 25 minutes was an amazing deal.

I genuinely miss that dub cast, though, even if they were mostly 90s-tier shit.

>mfw I suddenly remember I wrote a self-insert Ranma 1/2 fanfic as a high school senior because I wanted to be able to switch genders at will
>mfw I can't remember my login info to delete the fucking thing

Ha. And here I am complaining that each season on DVD (and up) are $50-$70. I feel like I want to into Hulu for dub streaming but apparently animefreak stepped up their game?

In the early days of my web surfing days it was so very rare to find people who thought this.

Wouldn't Ukyo shipping have been the norm in fanfiction? That's like the easiest vanilla no-skill pairing possible. (Also the best one.)

I was around back in the day, but it was 20 years ago so this is IIRC. Akane shipping was the majority faction, Ukyo shippers were a vocal minority. One of the major Ukyo shippers wrote a "darkfic" where Ranma and Akane married, Ranma started going to a support group for battered spouses, and eventually both he and Ukyo were murdered by Akane.

I think Shampoo and Kodachi shipping was mostly confined to AU-ish fics that drastically altered character personalities.

Ukyo got shipped pretty heavily with Ryoga. American fans liked to pretend Akari and Tsubasa didn't exist. That included me, honestly, because she and Ryoga had genuine chemistry whenever they schemed together.

>American fans liked to pretend Akari and Tsubasa didn't exist

Wasn't that mainly because VIZ took so long to bring over the later seasons/manga chapters?

Not sure, I was just getting into the fandom at the time (I nearly got kicked off the Yahoo! Ranma Mailing List for asking questions they'd already been arguing about for years).

>Akane shipping was the majority faction

Odd, I thought most female fans hated her.

Come to think of it, does the manga ending imply she and Ranma do eventually get married? Some user claimed that was a mistranslation...

That darkfic's concept alone sounds gold. But that's very educational. I would have figured the world would have been against Akane back then, but tsunderes must have been 'in' way before they started multiplying from her and Narusegawa.

>Come to think of it, does the manga ending imply she and Ranma do eventually get married? Some user claimed that was a mistranslation...

It's a "and adventures continued" copout, but it's very clear they'll end up together anyway.
It'd just be boring if they actually married.

>It's a "and adventures continued" copout, but it's very clear they'll end up together anyway.

Yeah, pretty much, which I guess was appropriate.

Has she ever done a satisfying ending, other than Maison Ikkoku?

Anti-Akane fans were like anti-Trump Republicans. There were a lot of them, but they were hopelessly divided between alternate candidates.

Fuck Shampoo
Marry Akane
Let Ukyo kill herself she she realizes she'll die alone.

In short stories.
And technically Inuyasha.
It was satisfying. Because it finally ended.

I will never forgive Zen for his character assassinating peice of hackwork creating so many awful fanfic tropes.

why is ranma-chan so sexual?

Yup.

The complete ignorance of the latter half of the manga did a lot of odd things to the western fandom. Heck, I'd argue that Ukyo gets the largest effect from this, as she does worse and worse things as the series goes on that a lot of her waifufags were just ignorant of.

Best Ranma fic incoming

>mfw girl days updated just a few days ago after years

Ukyo never got as bad as Shampoo was from the start, though, did she?

Ukyo a cute.

>edition
Fuck off.

She was right there with Shampoo in an attempt to just kill Nabiki in the arc when Nabiki takes the engagement.

She did join Shampoo and Kodachi in trying to steal the "engagement ring" from Akane, and ended up destroying the Saotome home.

And, of course, helped bomb the wedding.

...

>Two thousand and fucking sixteen
>Musk dynasty arc still not animated.

No kidding, right? Best arc in the series, because none of the skanks tagged along to fuck up the insanely good bro-time between Ranma, Ryoga, and Mousse.

I forgot, does a drop of water is enough for transition?
Can Ramna be a dick girl?

holy shit, where?

It's high time for a Ranma reboot, but instead we'll get a Boku Girl anime.

No, it takes at least the volume required to cover a portion of the body approximately the area of a human face.

This is bad information.
No chance for dick girl Ranma, yes?

Nope. The transformation, once initiated, goes all the way to completion.

Only in doujinshi. You're better off fantasizing about them keeping a kettle of hot water and a bucket of cold water next to the bed for swapping back and forth.

in one fic on Sakura Lemon Ranma kept herself on edge for hours before finally switching back to male form to finish. It hit the ceiling.

Nah, the Ryugenzawa arc is the best arc in the series.

I don't trust the modern anime industry with a Ranma reboot.

Ranma would be made Generic Harem MC and Akane would be made Generic Tsundere. All the other girls would stop being hilarious antagonists and just be moeblobs.

Ryoga, Kuno, and Mousse would not exist.

Akane was in it, that automatically disqualifies it from being the best arc.

Oh please.

Akane being in it and it bringing meaningful development on Ranma and Akane's relationship is part of the reason *why* it's the best arc.

>meaningful development

That was never brought up again except to showcase how much more of a shit Akane gave about Shinnosuke than she ever gave for Ranma.

>That was never brought up again

Except that if you read the manga continuously you see that their relationship notably changes throughout the manga, with the Ryugenzawa arc being a major kick in the pants.

> how much more of a shit Akane gave about Shinnosuke than she ever gave for Ranma.

This is a pile of BS and you know it

Just stop before you embarrass yourself, Akanefag, she literally gets less development throughout the series than even Ranma. She's a megabitch from the beginning and remains a megabitch throughout, to the point where she even holds Ranma hostage to a wedding he didn't even agree to just to be spiteful. Ryugenzawa did nothing for their relationship, all it did was show the audience what Akane would be like if she weren't a man-hating shrew when it came to Ranma. We caught the glimpse, and then never saw it again.

>Published: Jul 7, 2001
This has been going on for 15 years.

> She's a megabitch from the beginning and remains a megabitch throughout

False.

>to the point where she even holds Ranma hostage to a wedding he didn't even agree to just to be spiteful

This is also a thing that didn't happen.

>she weren't a man-hating shrew when it came to Ranma.

Stop reading bad fanfics, read the actual comic.

To be fair, it was seemingly dead for years until the author suddenly reappeared a while ago.

Last update seems to have been in 2001, though, where the fuck is the supposed new chapter?

>someone actually mentioning the Sakura Lemon Archive
Holy shit, that's some hardcore nostalgia right there.

Also I'm sort of amused that people call Ranma "she."

The story was updated on June 18th.

link?

Was that the one where ranma first starts experimenting with female masterbation and catches Nabiki masterbating one night?

It's still viewable on the Wayback Machine! Or at least it was until recently.

>Also I'm sort of amused that people call Ranma "she."

Eh, she's a she when she's got she-parts.

Somewhere on Sakura Lemon. Best one there is still Don't Call me Kawiikune, though, even if it ends with an anticlimax.

There needs to be more of Akane sexually dominating Ranma.

Damn right. Only other one I can remember is "I'll Be Your Fiancee," and that's pretty much completely out-of-character.

I remember that.

It was definitely odd. Basicaly the author took the fanfic trope that Akane's a perpetually angry paranoid anti-pervert basher, and then inverted it.

Which was really entertaining, you gotta admit.

But yeah, playing off Akane's angry desire to be in control and Ranma's fragile ego makes for a way better story.

>Which was really entertaining, you gotta admit.

Oh yeah the story was hilarious, if completely out of character for Akane.

But, "Making one character OOC in X Way, how does the rest of the cast react" is a Thing in a lot of fanfics.

I find myself wanting to get back into fanfiction, if only because it's the only form of story I can consistently finish. Maybe I should brush up on Ranma, write a ridiculously explicit porn series or something. Dominant Akane, and every pairing imaginable, including the best of all, Ranma-kun and Ryoga.

Fuck Ukyo, Marry Shampoo, Akane goes off a cliff

this was pretty good but holy fuck did it jump the shark half way through

>Implying going off a cliff can kill any Ranma 1/2 martial artist

Shit, it's Ranma 1/2, there's probably a martial arts school based entirely around falling from great heights to crush your opponents

Dragoon School of Martial Arts or something, they start training you at 7 by tossing you down ravines

This is probably the most discussion board-y atomosphere I've ever seen Sup Forums. It takes something this old to bring you guys out huh.

If you're a Ranma 1/2 fan odds are your an ancient oldfag.

So, so fucking glad I never got anything finished and uploaded.

>edition

I think that the Ranma-type take on gender bender in media is the most frustrating shit ever conceived by man, only followed by the always shit "WaCKy MiSundERsTANdiNGs!!" trope.

It pretty much puts an iron seal on the story, it ensures that no character will ever evolve in any way, that no action will have consequence, that no theme will ever be touched.
And I don't even mean it in a "the status quo must be preserved at episode end" kind of way. Even inside the same episode, even in those 20 minutes, you just know, nothing will have any consequence, nothing that will last even for a single minute.

Even shitty episodic shows have arcs that span 20 minutes, but Ranma doesn't. Nothing has any effect, the throwaway joke is so bland and uninspired in all of its iterations, that it would make absolutely no difference if the joke was that Ranma only changed hair color instead of gender.

Fuck I'm so mad.
Even To Love Ru does Gender Bender better than a series completely about it.

Can we talk about the superior Ranma?

Uh... what?

Takahashi Rumiko's entire career is composed of works so bland that make that average modern SoL look as deep as Evangelion looks to a secondary. Talking about which one of her works is superior is like arguing about which glass of tap water tastes better.

Is it weird that if they ever did bring back Ranma 1/2, I want them to give Akane the opposite curse of Ranma? Would open up some new potential humor.

>I think Shampoo and Kodachi shipping was mostly confined to AU-ish fics that drastically altered character personalities.
As a Kodachifag, the last point really kills it for me. I like the idea of her having a softer nonpsychotic attitude, but I believe that things must be properly developed and properly led up to in order for it to work nicely. But almost every fanfic author would all of a sudden have Kodachi acting in a certain way, or there'd be a REALLY simple trigger that changes her, to accommodate for the ship and she'd seem like a completely different character.

It's supposed to be hard to make something like that happen and make sense, because that's what'll make it more honest. I don't think Kodachi would get rid of her psychotic streak so easily, and I'm not ready to believe in a simple childhood memory being a catalyst that can lead up to a simple solution to make her sane. It's really bad, deus-ex-machina level writing.

It does. Nostalgiafagging has its benefits, there's far less shitposting in threads about Ranma and Lupin and Gunsmith Cats and classic shit like that.

Except for when you get dicks like this guy

stirring up trouble.

Maison Ikkoku is probably her best work. Not the most creative or off the wall, but the most character development (for Godai and Kyoko, anyway) and a deeply satisfying ending. I just finished collecting the flipped/sized-down rerelease (had to buy a bunch of them used on eBay, so there's library stickers and shit, but new from that series costs like $60 now), planning on rereading it soon.

Also, Akemi best slutfu.

Oh man, that'd be great.

>Tomboy!
>Pervert!
>You're so uncute, figures you'd turn into a guy!
>At least my muscles are bigger than yours!
>And my breasts are bigger than YOURS!

>Kodachifag

How?

>How?
Yep.

Akbar is worst girl and anyone who likes her should kill themselves

Who is Akbar?

Akane*

...

Ranma is one of the few manga to do harem right in my opinion because it's pure comedy, there's no stupid drama.
And Ramna is proactive, not in going after the girls, he barely cares about them, he just wants to prove he's awesome and fulfill his childish pride.

She and Ranma deserve each other. Plus, it's not like any of the other ladies are any more reasonable. Shampoo straight up tries to murder people all the time, Kodachi's a violent lunatic, Ukyo's chill but can be a cruel schemer when she wants to be...really the entire cast's all different flavors of asshole. But they're loveable assholes.

I feel really bad for Akane, so maybe that's one reason I like her. Strongest fighter in her dojo, upstaged by an unwanted fiancee who constantly insults her.

She's far from best girl but she's obviously the best girl for ranma.

Ranma is a boy
