Just finished watching Tetsuwan Birdy Decode, the second season. What the fuck? It's pure shit. The fighting scenes were cool, but the rest was just what the hell. All the build up in the first season was completly forgotten. Did they straight up changed the script or something?

It was a forced romance that shifted the focus of the show away from Birdy's troubled past to his grimdark revenge quest.
Instead of hearing more about her fucked up childhood, the process of creating Ixorians, or seeing how Tsutomu reacts to any of it; we get some dude ripping arms off the Ice Climbers.
I'm convinced to this day that he was written in an attempt to boost the show's lagging sales.

You can ignore the first one unless you're a diehard fan. It was discontinued pretty quickly.
The second manga is the main story, and it got a continuation called Evolutions. The raws are all available online on mangazone.
Scanlations stopped about a year ago when the second translator to pick up the series died like the first one.

Why would a studio give up a profitable work and resource slot? It's better to work on a series that is doing a lot of merchandise sales because of profit sharing.
Birdy anime and manga aren't really a series that was designed to sell merchandise. It's more of the old school way of telling stories instead of having the plot tweaked to boost character good sales or to have anime characters be clothes horses and models for the mainstream clothing being sold in department stores. That's good too since merchandisers get a big say in various plot elements and thus the story is compromised.
