because they have to verify the story amd put out verified facts. Not everything is CNN and even CNN just twists facts and sets a tone for how they want viewers to perceive it. Although, even CNN is technically mostly correct, outside of the talking heads. When they inject opinion and neglect facts, that's when they twist things. It happens in all aspects of news and even science.
Point being, they still have to verify, and investigate the story. That takes time. Depending on the brand of news and message, they will formulate their own band of what info to emphasize, gloss over, and inject words to make viewers interpret that news to form an opinion.

Otherwise they would be sued and liable for slander and defamation. Ever wonder why they aren't sued into the ground?
