I'm not sure that electric cars have much benefit over gasoline as far as pollution goes. They have to mine for lithium and other elements in order to make them which pollutes. In order to charge the batteries you need electricity, much of which comes from coal power. If it was purely hydroelectric or wind power sourced electricity it would be better, but thats impossible at the moment.
