Hiramoto knows what he's doing.
He does not care about weekly pacing, he cares about the overall pacing, the final product.
I can agree and that is why I stick to it. Too many mangaka focus on delivering something every week but that creates an absolute mess when you reread it after it's completed.

- Mayumi is revealed to be a camwhore
- the cavalry battle itself
Those are 4 main things happened during the contests. Chances are Meiko will be revived as well.
It isn't bad at all. It just feels slow because you are not binge reading it.

It's too soon to say that the events that have occurred wont have profound impact on future plots.
This argument rings very hollow when you compare this arc to previous ones. As someone who has experienced better arcs in this manga in the weekly format I very much disagree with your sentiment. Not only did previous arcs move more smoothly, but tension was built up much more effectively when the plot did slow down to focus on big events.
Unlike previous arcs this one hasn't been able to effectively take itself seriously as well (aside from Kyoshi's "death") and taking ridiculous situations completely seriously was one of the main hallmarks of prison school's comedy. another problem this arc has is that it's extended plotlines like the VP's revival and Andre's condition have raised and released their tension so many times that the payoff in the end can't possibly be worth all the build up. Even the Mari vs Kate showdown v2 has been muddled by everything else that is currently going on.
