Do you have the actual Nico broadcast link?

It could have been AOTY, but Sawano's generic soundtrack ruined it.

It was broadcasted on Tokyo-MX!

>Seki talking in Chinese
DAFUQ

As long song from trailer will be main theme, I will be OK with that.

As expected from Butch!

I've heard people describe Urobuchi's characters as lifeless puppets, but I didn't expect that syatement to be taken literally.

>I've heard people describe Urobuchi's characters as lifeless puppets, but I didn't expect that syatement to be taken literally.
One advantage of puppets is that you can get away with gore that wouldn't be acceptable on daytime television otherwise. Even in the preview in the OP we got a mook being sliced in half. That would have gotten any anime into trouble and censored for most stations, but it's a-okay because puppets. In general when puppets fight, someone dies. There is no reason to hold back.

was this just announced a week before it airs? the name sounds familiar but I was on anichart/livechart all day yesterday and didn't see it

>was this just announced a week before it airs? the name sounds familiar but I was on anichart/livechart all day yesterday and didn't see it
It is possible that some charts might not list it because it is not technically anime.

>was this just announced a week before it airs?
You are pretty late, then. This was announced already on February.

It's got an anime director, an anime script, T.M Revolution as theme music, has anime voice actors doing all the dubs, Good Smile Company helping with puppet design, and yet with live action puppets. I hope Sup Forums mods would let us have a thread on this forum and not get it sent to Sup Forums or /jp/.

oh wait this is that puppet thing, I saw this when gonig through the previews lol, are you guys actually excited for this? shouldn't it go on the arts and crafts board or something, good luck getting threads going in Sup Forums

>because it is not technically anime.
It IS anime. Just with unconventional animation technique. Which of course can be for someone problem.
But for example AniDB have normally entry for it:
anidb.net/a11917

No, see

Please God let somebody sub this. Crunchyroll has had articles about it so they might pick it up.

>Please God let somebody sub this. Crunchyroll has had articles about it so they might pick it up.
This would be bizzare if it gets picked up. I am just hoping that fansubbers would give them a shot but at least I can try to grab Taiwanese subs if I had to. Because if anyone is going to sub this it would be the Taiwanese.

I know I'm just joking, shaftfags know better than anyone the puppets count as anime

Just use right tag on AniDB and you will find that there is more titles like this.

>preview
That's actually very well done.

this is 100% NOT anime

See Also Uro in preview call it Anime.

I'm interested. Could be cool. It's new, for me at least.

they had an exhibition at last wonfest if i recall correctly

At least it actually looks good, unlike all others those CGI or rotoscopic experiments.

Look at this broadcasting station's anime lineup.
bs11.jp/anime/
It's an anime

next you're going to say wallace and gromit aren't Sup Forums?

Its literally stop motion you fucking faggot.

This garbage is not anime.

whatever you say

If people are wondering why Chinese is used when Seki's character is shown, it's because usually in Pili shows when a new character is introduced, that character would recite a unique poem.

Urobuchi is going full autistic on this project it seems.

I see.

Based Gen will save us from this shitty season

Just happened!
crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2016/07/01/crunchyroll-to-stream-japanese-taiwanese-co-production-thunderbolt-fantasy

Hell yes. It's not often I get a chance to watch a Taiwanese puppet show.

I hope that the puppets will turn people off so that after the first couple episodes we can have nice threads even if it is an Urobuchi show.

>have nice threads

Not here, puppet shit is neither anime or manga

>b-but muh butcher
Gaim is not allowed here for a reason

Like most of butcher's works, they use clichés and tropes associated with that genre. There is already a wondering swordman, theme of brotherhood and an all powerful mcguffin.

Didn't really think it would happen.

>Not here, puppet shit is neither anime or manga
Again see .
Good to remember that, since from now any other post of this kind will be considered shitposting and ignored.

One step closer to the inevitable show co-written by Okada and the Butcher

Debate about the definition of anime to English speakers aside, it's not as if by making an exception for this show Sup Forums will start to be overrun with future puppet shows and be completely taken over like /m/ - tokusatsu. This will be a rare novelty that will probably get a single thread per week.

The fuss some people make over Urobuchi is overstated. The general population here mostly cares about type-moonshit and Madoka, not the man himself.

Gee how the fuck did I know Aniplex was involved when it was Urobuchi x Sawano again. Right into the garbage.

>Implying this is Butcher and not the genre itself.

This looks like some of the most commercial too many cooks in the kitchen in a while.

Dark Crystal meets Team America.

Shit looks wack yo, but... I guess if you like dolls?

youtube.com/watch?v=U1mlCPMYtPk

T.M Revolution is a massive fucking sellout shill lately. Shame cause I used to like him and still sort of do, just not as much and I know I'm going to be fully sick to death of him by the time this season and him whoring himself out for Aniplex shit is done.

Good for Urobuchi but just because he says something doesn't make it the case. The guys a commercial hack that'd say anything to get his shit to sell or pick up more viewers.

It'll probably be the generic Sawano sounding song from the start of the trailer. Remember Sawano or Kajiura for everything action/fantasy related that features Aniplex as music producer and distributor, absolutely no exceptions or variety cause god forbid it might sell a little less.

Urobuchi can say all the shit he fucking wants to try to get his overmarketed crap to sell to even more demographics but it doesn't make it true.

Hey I have an idea, lets use an unorthodox animation method by partnering up with a Taiwanese puppet theater company with a lasting tradition and then totally homogenize and ruin any potential it has to be unique by slapping Urobuchi, Sawano and T.M Revolution over whatever Pili might try to do. Like what's the fucking point if it's just as generic "popular anime" as ever? Will Pili's techniques and what not even be allowed room to breathe over all the shrill edgy Sawano music and equally edgy and heavy handed Urobuchi writing? Personally I doubt it and this just seems like a waste of time for Pili. If it catches on it'll just be with the same old fans of Urobuchi and Sawano who watch it for their latest rehashes, not because they'll have a lasting interest in Pili Puppet Theater.

That's what I'm saying, it's tropes of the genre but there are plenty of butcher quirks. Like how he's showing particular favoritism in the main villain, it doesn't help that he looks and has the same powers as his replay character from Red dragon.
The white haired MC is described as cunning and avoids having to fight.
The other MC is the cynical moralfag and the kanji compromising his name couldn't be more ominous :
殤 : decay, dying at a young age
不 : un- prefix
患 : disease

MAL deleted the show's entry since they somehow consider puppets not to be a form of stop-motion.

Meanwhile they accept stop-motion of a 3DPD woman shoving sardines into her cunt.

>generic Sawano sounding song from the start of the trailer
Dude, it's one song in whole trailer. And that flute is beautifull.

>Bothering to reply to Aniplex guy

That autistic fuck only exist to gloat about bandai's success and shitpost about aniplex failure. Ignore him.

Not trying to argue against this show but how do you consider something filmed in real time stop motion?

Is this done in real-time? Anyway, I just paraphrased their rationale for deletion:

"Thunderbolt Fantasy (32671) - Puppetry does not count as stop motion."
myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=140439&show=360#msg34632201

i have the music for your image youtube.com/watch?v=jI7tcqJ9oPA

Watch the video in OP. It's basically like them filming a puppet show.

Only watched the digest part so far, not the making of.

It's combination of many techniques. But real time filming is prevailing.
See this video at time 10:17:

No I more just like shitting on stuff Aniplex is involved in for being complete lazy rehashed garbage of late that banks on the same rotation of aggressively promoted names and excessive marketing to be popular. You like being a contrarian shithead who sucks long and hard on their cock just to be a good little shitposter and then tells people to ignore me when they could just as easily be ignoring you for how little you contribute to anything.

Anyway lately I mainly hate them as a music producer and distributor which they seem to be here again cause they keep cramming Sawano Kajiura and the same stable of voice actors down peoples throats along with the same collaborations with shitty overrated LN/VN writers that haven't done anything even passable in years over and over season after season. These people are overused as fuck, long past their prime as artistic contributors and it's showing to everyone who isn't a braindead idiot. Thing is I actually like the idea of using puppet animation cause it's kind of fresh but Sawano and his shrill vocal music can just fuck right off and die cause it renders shows immediately unwatchable. Same shit every time regardless of setting, motif, themes whatever.

>mfw the cast is amazing

Mostly Fate casting.
Targeting is pretty obvious.

It's better than a lot of shit but good luck hearing them over piercing Sawano vocals that drown everything out every 5 minutes

That looks beautiful.

>Fate casting
I'm not seeing it, I'm seeing Urobutcher saving seiyuu careers.

This. Everything about this project top down is clearly and carefully put in place to hit up as many of the usual noted high spender and "fan boys of these people" demographics as possible without actually having to go the direct route of giving them the actual things they want to see and hear again. I guess as long as it contains enough elements that are kind of like legitimately popular in it's own right shit from five years ago that's good enough for these production committees though. Also whatever keeps Sawano on a show or two a season pace too. How somebody can be so grossly in over supply of late yet apparently remain this apparently sought after makes little sense to me. It's like people act like they haven't heard anything from him in years and like they're getting a blast of nostalgia when it's typically only been a matter of weeks since mid 2014.

I fail to see how on paper this registers as having any sort of different appeal than say Aldnoah.Zero's. Same fucking thing and TMR for theme song instead of Kalafina aside like a good chunk of the same principle staff. Only difference is some guy from Pili will be doing the directing instead of a moron like Ei Aoki.

Same Seiyuu appear in most of his works, I'm surprised there was no Jouji nakata or Midorikawa.

...

How is he a sell-out?

I don't know, I've never seen Mai Nakahara in his works.

It's made in nipland by nips.
It's a form of animation.
It's anime.

All these words with no meaningful content.

If the show's not for you, just don't watch. Some people like some or all the elements of shows like this- the music, the VAs, the writers, etc. Clearly it's not aimed at you and you won't convince those who want to see the above in their shows.

What the fuck are you even talking about? A lot of these people have been plenty active of late in games, Tokusatsu voice over work as well as daytime anime, just not as much late night anime because late night anime has been fucking dog shit lately and a lot of these people are way outside of it's normal price range which favors cheaper mid tier seyiuu. Also most anime production committees would rather cast people like M.A.O, Matsuoka and the like over and over again. If anything a lot of these seiyuu are doing way better career wise than a lot of their counterparts who make up the casts of most lately anime because they've managed to work up big enough resumes and credibility to land more mainstream roles and pick and choose some of what they want to do rather than have agencies plug them for roles like a Sora Amamiya. Most likely a lot of them signed on because it's a chance to maybe get some more exposure in Taiwanese markets and expand their resumes with new kinds of work.

Damn, really makes you think.

Shilling fucking HARD for Sony Music lately and being used as one of their go to pieces a lot more now like Sawano, Kajiura, LiSA Amamiya etc. All I've seen him do of late on his twitter is just hawk the fuck out of their crap like B-Project and this and now he's at Anime Expo to shill ever more. It's sad to see how far he's fallen of late. Guy used to be relatively mainstream in Japan, no idea why he's slumming it so much with bad anime projects of late.

It is anime but it's made in Taiwan by a Taiwanese company, not only that but since the puppeteers don't understand japanese, they had to translate Urobuchi's scripts to chinese first so that the animators could convey the emotions of the characters, they do that along with the Taiwanaese VA reading the lines, after that's finished the Seiyuu do the dubbing.

Fuck imagine an anime fanbase that actually stops and thinks for themselves once in a while instead of just shitposting and arguing all the time. Granted if that were the case it'd probably be a dead medium already by now instead of just woefully dependent on foreign investment and other media formats as well as rotating the same ever dwindling number of popular people that are still willing to work indefinitely and on a mass production basis over and over.

Oh. Maybe he likes anime? I mean, he's been in anime before (Gundam SEED, Valvave). But I don't know about Japanese musical trends so you may be right. No one's at the top forever, some people want to remain relevant by any means.

If we were all agreeing and shit we'd turn into one of those anime forums.

The best solution is to obviously retire the popular creators early so less talented staff get their chance to shit all over projects. It's not enough that only one or 3 anime per dozens features popular staff, it will be much better if everyone working on anime is a nobody.

"My justice is not your justice but not the best justice which can only be won through suffering and sacrifice and doing blowing up the whole damn world when a simpler less DRAMATIC solution would just as soon suffice and bad things happening to good people and just lots and lots of bad things and hyper oats, and philosophical muttering and gore and death grrrrrruhhhhhhhh"

I imagine something like that and now I'm suddenly reminded why I tired of Urobuchi concepts pretty damn fast. I think the only person in this industry that might understand how people and society actually works enough to write interesting characters less would be Mari Okada. It's long past time for some new "top writers" in this industry again but what are you gonna do when anyone with enough self respect is working in live action or literature instead. People should try reading some Haruki Murakami for example, best thing to happen to Japanese Sci-Fi (possibly Japanese literature period) since Fukui Harutoshi both of whom could easily write circles around a hack like Urobuchi before he could even get past his latest bout of instantaneous writers block to call one or more of his VN or Sony friends to be his crutches on a new project. Murakami actually writes about the kinds of themes Urobuchi seems to think he's writing insightfully about but actually tackles them head on instead of just sort of presenting some ideas and then going for Hollywood tier shock value as a means of sorting it all out into a working script or treatment.

Is this how we successfully kill anime?

Who knows maybe somebody fresh actually will present something new and refreshing that will galvanize the industry, but we'll never know unless more of them are given a chance instead of just the Sawano's, Urobuchi's and Okada's of the industry who really just aren't getting it done much lately if at all and don't even seem particularly enthusiastic about anything they're working on anymore. Again like the idea of trying something like introducing puppet animation to the world, absolutely hate the idea of crutching it with Sawano, TMR and Urobuchi as if to say that's nice but no way this lowly inferior Taiwanese theater art that's been around since the mid 80's could ever stand on it's own in GRORIOUS NIPPON and the rest of the world so here have these same old people and their fanboys again anyway as an audience instead and fuck you Pili. JAPAN STRONG!

That's honestly what it's felt like more and more as the project has gone on and added more and more Japanese sponsors up until what we have now which is a mostly Japanese staff and production with some Taiwanese guys doing the actual hard work in puppetry and practical effects. So much for Urobuchi's grand idea of showing the world a Taiwanese tradition that he saw while touring there.

What the fook. That's creepy.

No leaving it so that no people ever come into the industry or people who might be interested right now but are hesitant because they feel they don't have a fair shot cause some production committee that is too chicken shit to go it without an established name is just going to shit all over their efforts anyway so never bother is what kills it and is already in the process of killing it. Nobody with any self respect or an upward career trajectory wants to work in this industry right now. Sometimes I wonder if part of the reason we get these same people over and over is because they're the only ones just so creatively bankrupt and desperate that they're willing to put up with constant production committee meddling as long as it means their shit gets marketed into guaranteed modest hits and so they settle for the mediocrity of being an anime industry mainstay.

Basically anime has gone full Hollywood with the stuntcasting and staffing only possibly worse because it has practically nobody now that truly stands out and has a real shot at hitting up the mainstream (Grr mainstream bad normalfags a shit I know Sup Forums you don't have to say that shit I know the drill) and potential new anime fans besides maybe Mamoru Hosoda and Tsutomu Mizushima if he manages to play his cards exactly right in the next few years and I really doubt it on the last one because for all the good GuP did Mayoiga was dreadful enough to be considered 2ch's worst anime of the season and the sort of stuff that would possibly end a career in a medium where people have higher standards. So literally any other medium besides anime.

I mean fuck when you're industries most prolific screenwriter bombed almost everything she did of late and is hated by a good chunk of it's fanbase it says a lot about where it's at right now.

In before nice copypasta and a preemptive fuck you if you're thinking of replying with that shit.

>not liking dolls

Can you summarise what you're saying.

tfw thought this was a new gundam thunderbolt content

There really aren't any other Thunderbolt series beside this?

This is cute.

Better than Robot Chicken.
