I grew up in the 1990s, I remember quite well. Just a student at the time. Started off with the sovet union coming down, desert storm and awful fashion. The western world went through a relatively peacefully and prosperous time. With the Soviet union in disarray the threat of nuclear war subsided. Many nations relocated military spending to domestic programs. Also things like the internet and home computers where really coming into use. While cell phones were large and clunky, they gradually got smaller and smaller.

The 90s was a good time. Some good music if you're into boy bands and grunge rock.

I didn't even deliberately stop watching movies or tv, I just slowly lost interest and all dawned on me one day that I haven't watched TV or been to the movie theater in 2 years.

that's about when games started to go downhill too IMO. 2007 and less so 08 had a lot of REALL good games, but then in the couple years after that they went downhill massively and really haven't been the same since.

The most major conflicts during the 90s were the first Gulf War which was a huge victory and the incident at Mogadishu which only resulted in like 20 deaths. Those are nothing compared to Iraq and Afghanistan which cost thousands of American lives and lasted for over a decade each.
