Business politics. The show wasn't made to sell, it was made to sell manga, a web application, and associated merchandise like line stickers and key chains. There won't be a season 2 in all likelihood because it's done its job, people're are going to be talking about it for the first week of the season and forget about it afterwards, but their sales will increase across other venues.

It's actually really not pandering, although I guess why you'd think it was based on synopsis. It's more HEALING than anything.

The characters get upset by some trivial teenager bullshit and the MC uses the power of basic adult maturity to solve their problems.
That would be a decent premise for a comedy, but it's played completely straight

Because of its format as a web comic with the ManWha style, most chapters are about 5 min with the length of 25-30 pages. Manga leaves off on chapter 105 or so.

That's the problem, when watching Wixoss, Penguindrum or Seraph I would often pause and just admire the backgrounds, and their especially strong point is the way they use colors lighting and perspective in the scenes.
Here the colors were very bright with little variation no particularly fancy angles either.

So Hoshino is subject 001. Why is she still a highschooler? Will Kaizaki and her just do nothing (Kaizaki did the right thing with the information he had, no complaining about that) and just go their separate ways once their ReLIFE ends? Will they seriously not get togerether?

Her only hint is that MC seems mature. It doesn't help that she is kinda of in denial about it.

Considering Subject 001 was their branch's first effort and it failed abysmally it's possible she got an extension, hence another year. That would explain why there was supposed to be another support for Subject 002, but complications with training and whatnot delayed that so Ryo supported both.

She's also completely socially awkward and not capable of reading people at all. Not yet at least.

She is a highschooler because they decided to giver her another shot.
They will probably end up together, but we don't know much about it yet.
The manga is not that far off the anime ending, all we got so far is An and Yoake development and their story in the company and Hishiro becoming suspicious of Kaizaki being a ReLife subject.

She was given an option to continue HS till she finished her 3rd year because she was considered a failure. Onoya is later appointed as her support and Hishiro speculates its because Ryo wants to watch over Kaiziki more closely

Wait aren't the ReLIFE subjects supposed to keep their memories afterwards? So why would they forget since they're both subjects? Am I misunderstanding something or did the anime do a shit job at explaining something/left something out?

To the ReLIFE subjects, they still think they're both Teens to one another, hence why they don't want to do anything with each other. Onoya wants to give them that push so they could have a happy future but that would be getting too involved.
Before this chapter, they ask their scientist what would happen

"Since we've never had this kind of situation I honestly don't know what's going to happen. Hmm... As for my personal theory, their memories of each other are going to be erased"
