I'm reading a book about a US naval diver during WW2. He and his crew dived on the wrecked Nachi in Manilla harbor and recovered some papers that detailed Japanese battle plans and defenses, as well as finding a safe with 2 million yen (500k USD at the time) inside, which was taken along with the papers by naval intelligence.
