> corruption scandals and economic crisis strengthen new political parties, which take votes from traditional parties
> this is the case in Spain and every region like Catalonia
> one of these parties is CUP, an anti-establishment Catalan nationalist party
> after Catalan elections, the nationalist party in power (right-wing) needs a coalition with ERC and CUP (left-wing but also Catalan nationalist) to form a government
> CUP says "ok, but we have two conditions"
> "first, that corrupted thief (Artur Mas, the Catalan president) must gtfo"
> "second, we demand an independence referendum"
> right-wingers agree, anything is better than NOT forming a government
> however, this coalition doesn't have enough MPs in the Catalan parliament according to Spanish and Catalan law in order to call for a referendum
> Catalan government doesn't give a fuck, the alternative is surrendering power to a different government that might uncover their corruption schemes
> they call five different referenda in a couple of years
> none of which is valid or legitimate, as they aren't legally constituted and anti-independence Catalans boycott them
> the fifth referendum was planned for yesterday - in principle more of the same
> a wild RETARDED RAJOY (Spanish PM) appeared!
> he sends in riot police from across the nation to close the shabby makeshift ballot boxes which had absolutely no legal validity or democratic legitimacy

bunch of stupid liberal California-tier dipshits living in a waterfall of wealth blindly craving independence because they're too far removed from the reality of things

Yup, bad time for be a non-catalonian Spanish. Just to think we have that single-neuroned individual as a president gives me the chills

Like Revista Mongolia said, all of Spain should declare independence from that useless idiot.

if those right-wingers say so, we are really really really fucked up (and remember children, a dish is a dish and a plate is a plate)

im turk

They want independence because Spain became shit because Germany fucked up Spain.

They're cucked

the real question is, will your war songs be as good as the Yugo ones?

youtube.com/watch?v=GAziYLjR-28

I wonder how that could happen?

you forgot the

>ballot boxes already filled with hundred of votes

abc.es/espana/catalunya/abci-caida-suelo-bolsa-urna-y-papeletas-votacion-crea-debate-redes-201710011243_noticia.html

Wow, ABC, so reliable

implying you can't see the same images EVERYWHERE

Puigdemont was claiming victory days before voting even started. Besides:

>people could vote several times
>meme referendum was illegal from the start and unrecogniced by the entire world, so only independentists took it seriously

You keep making yourself look like an idiot

>only independentists took it seriously
>sends all the police to stop it

Catalan police

>referendum was illegal
>vote several times
>ballot boxes already filled

>sends all the police to stop stupid anarchists from spending more Spain's money in illegal referendums

you own us 100 millions right now, Artur Mas is already asking for help to pay for the 2009 referendum or he will get his shit taken from him, deal with it criminals.

Catalonia have a much higher GDP than Finland's (Finland only has 71% of Catalonia's GDP), even higher than Denmark's too. And they have about the same GDP per capita as Finland.

i'm going to use this thread as an excuse to test my new OC

CUP gained votes because they dismantled corruption in villages
Independentist parties gained votes because the Spanish government kept blocking more and more Catalan laws
The independence referendum was promised by much bigger parties than CUP
Anti-independence catalans want a legit referendum because they are sick of this shit
Actions of the military police make total sense if they were on coke

Fuck YOU, revisionist swine
They are taking down Spanish imperialism

And over half of Cacalonia's GDP is from trade inside of Spain.

Did you miss the news from your own country that the Catalonians encouraged people to vote anywhere, not just in their designated polling booths?

They would continue to trade with spain and in EU obviously. Spain is reliant on the trade agreements too.

The national police was sent in iirc, not just the Catalan police. Madrid got bootyblasted about it for some reason.

It doesn't make the referendum any less illegal, police brutality aside (which I don't condone btw, those fuckers should be fired even if they were beating traitor scum).

1:1 the same shit

youtube.com/watch?v=mt31tCJdsLE

I have the impression Catalans wine since the fall of Barcelona 300 years ago and do nothing

is spain the america of europe?

Got more like this?

You paint this shit like it's something new. Even ignoring that independentism has existed for a long time, this whole mess in particular started when in 2010 the Constitutional Tribunal messed up with the Statute of Autonomy that catalans had, calling it "anticonstitutional" and granting instead a light version. This coupled with the crisis created quite an uproar and allowed the right-wing catalans of CiU leaded by Artur Mas to win against the Socialist Party of Catalonia. They started this catalan process since then and there was an illegal referendum already in 2014. That one was a mess and ruined by a very ambiguous question made in an attempt to appease the socialists who aren't independentists but by then they were still trying to show they don't depend on their spanish counterpart (since then they have completely dropped this). After this mess of a referendum Mas anticipated elections and everything you said happened, but it's very important to understand that the Coalition led by Puigdemont (and Mas before CUP wanted him out) was independentist since the start and was formed with the intention of holding a referendum or even declaring independence without a new one (they already had the last one). They wanted to do whatever they were gonna do without CUP if possible because CUP like Podemos scares a lot of old people.

No. The catalan police was passive in some places and even slightly supportive in others. The guys you see smashing skulls are, for once, not the Mossos d'Esquadra. Rajoy sent police from other parts of Spain, the Looney Toons ship they arrived and lived in is a widespread meme.

Nobody ever said it was legal.

Second Spanish Civil War soon. Can't wait to go kill some gommies.

What a coincidence, I want to gulag class enemies.

(((Radio Banyoles)))

What a fucking faggot. The ballot boxes where filled with empty envelopes as a decoy, and your dumb monkey took the bait to the max.

>CUP like Podemos scares a lot of old people
Why? Afraid of change or something? Please no meme answers

Finland isn't relevant

The multiple vote meme need to die. People where asking for pictures and in some places they let them took pictures like they were voting. I have yet to see video footage of things like that happening. Also the places that didn't verify the vote over the net were not counted in the final result. Some places didn't verify over the net but only allowed the local people to vote (like in my town) so the verified manually that you where on the list and when the had internet access the uploaded the IDs in batch. At most you could vote twice if you managed to be lucky enough that your local school didn't have internet access at the moment and you could get to another school before they registered your vote.

The continuing disintegration of the e"""u""".

Very well drawn desu, make it a meme with "I love to opress".

except that people voted multiple fucking times

Then prove it.

Protip: you can't, static pictures of people posing in front a ballot are no actual votes

Mexinigga i'm in for a world of shit.

I'm Catalan and I don't know which lies I need to believe.

State tv: multiple votes people didn't use the web census which was prepared for the referendum.

Regional tv: multiple votes were impossible because they had to check the id of the voter with the web census system in order to know if they had already voted-

The only fact known and accepted for everyone is the census was down for several hours between 10 and 12 am

>Not understanding the border effect
>Not understanding how EU membership works
>Being this much of a brainlet
Cacalonia wpuld lose approximatly 25% of their GDP with a declaration of independence. This is the most conservative stimation btw

youtube.com/watch?v=YUVVes6F5ug

>Cacalonia wpuld lose approximatly 25%
Nice, they'll be like Finland then. I hope it happens (but sadly it won't)

If Spain weren't retarded they'd do it like Britain and use the state fund to campaign in a legal referendum telling Catalans they'll starve outside of Spain and here's why

Boom, 40% yes votes max.

Oh shit Paco its civil war time.

Wow votes that are not included in the final result!

Finland has a higher nominal gdp than Cataluña alredy. An independent Cataluña would have a lower GDP than Portugal

>show me proof people are voting multiple times in the referendum
>give proof
>d-doesn't count!!!11!! those votes were not going to be included anyway!!

cacalan pls

>Send riot cops to schools where important personalities and government officials are supposed to vote
>The same schools that are packed with press for this very reason
>Let the whole world watch as you beat the shit out of voters and rob their ballot boxes
>Only manage to close down like 10% of schools, yet injure 900+ people in the process
>Afterwards, let the independentists count the votes anyway, so they can have both the numbers and the images of violence

Mariano really must have thought this shit through

Finland: $234.524 billion (nominal)
Catalonia: $255.204 billion (nominal)

However!

Finland: $239.662 billion (PPP)
Catalonia: $336.162 billion (PPP)

Even if their economy shrinks, it will likely grow in time. They'll be independent like they want to, and they'll have an economy.

No one will remember this after 2 days desu

>People bitching and moaning about the procedure of the referenum after they sabotaged it from minute 1
Gotta love this irony

Unless there's a hard border between them and France and Spain.

At least they won't be landlocked though

Catalan separatists will, and its finally going to be discussed in the EU too, growing of indignation among parlementarians now.

let them be free (from spain). why not

I would bet that the people of Catalonia will. Campaigning for no with figures and sound economic reasons is going to be a lot harder after you showed this kind of violence and hatred.

Why now? Why all the intrigue? What's with the emotion?

but they'll start painting shoeboxes black and red again. fucking weirdos

You are pretty dumb pal. If a country has 25% of its economy invested industry that just exports to the same country and said country breaks ties with its only client said country is pretty much fucked. Detroit would be a joke compared to the economic collapse of an independent Cataluña specially if they go the UDI way

I don't think that would happen desu. I think Spain would NEED to keep a friendly relationship, after all Spain will lose a lot of money on this and therefore will benefit on continuing the trade. And if Spain is friendly with them then everyone else will have no reason not to be friendly with them.

for a long ass time on youtube, the most responded to video was about catalonia

I dunno much about this stuff and neither do you. But there are lots of small nations whose economy is working just fine, smaller than Catalonia would be.

most people there don't want secession you dullard.

What made the videos effective is how little violence there was from the people. There's like maybe 2 I've seen. All the other videos were armoured men beating down on people who stayed peaceful, that makes the reaction to it more emotional because the violence can't be explained by rioting scum. just bad optics

Tell me where did you get that fantasy from?

Spain is a Niggerstate, they can't into proper politics.

Tomorrow there will be a general strike in Catalonia, that's when riots are going to break out

The PR damage has been done already, I'm not sure if images of people smashing a car now will change it drastically.

Will there not be a unilateral declaration of independence? All independentist parties said that the referendum was binding.

Depends on the parliament. The referendum results get presented to parliament.

UDI would be so dumb, what a shitshow.

In domestic key, it sure will shift the narative to "see? they were violent after all!"
Just check El País, the biggest spanish newspaper, there is no word of any injuries or casualties. They even have a photo show of what they describe as "riots"

right cause that worked great for Britain

> We are feelings and have got human beings
> I like Catalonia. I like Catalans. They do things.
> Cars should go on highways and planes should take off from airports
> This isn't like water coming down from the sky, which nobody knows why it happens
> Sometimes the best decision is no decision, which is also a decision
> What has prevented me from fulfilling my campaign promises is reality itself
> ETA is a great nation... I mean, Spain is a great nation
> Spain is a great nation and Spaniards are very Spanish and much Spaniards

All of these are actual statements by PM Rajoy, the man tasked with solving the greatest constitutional crisis in modern Spanish democracy.

Uh yeah it worked great for Britain, Scottish independence referendum failed.
