My understanding is that the Japanese view on different versions of a story is that they're retellings of the same basic concept, not that one supersedes the other (like you'd expect in the West). If you like Roberta getting crippled and Revy going off on Rock, that's fine. Prefer Garcia giving Roberta The Power of Love to calm her down and no Revy getting pissed at Rock? Hey, that's cool too.
