The FBI were far too quick in dismissing any ISIS link after ISIS had claimed responsibility, it was within the hour, so anyone who didn't find that suspicious is beyond reasoning.
The fact that ISIS then reasserted their responsibility and added more information (i.e. his chosen name) could be severely damning to the FBI if it turns out to be correct. Best case scenario, that's why the US media is holding back on covering that aspect for now. In reality though, the US media, losing grasp on the respect from their viewers, likely are simply enjoying that they are shaping a narrative that white people are to blame for everything.
