Weekly Shonen Jump

How would you compare the potential of Jump's current line-up to those of the past?

The sumo one is the next big thing, will get toei and mainstream status.
Prepare for sumo ads everywhere.

I really hope Sumo doesn't go to Toei.
I do think it will get a massive KuroBas esque boost though.

Best sports manga in Jump since Eyeshield 21 or Slam Dunk.

We're in a huge transitional period for Jump as well as so many old series have ended or are ending.
We'll probably get 2-3 huge new battle manga to catch on before the end of 2017.

Ramon-kun is an asshole.

Seriously? I'll have to try.

He was talking about the sumo one, not haikyuu

It's a great pure red hot hotted battle sports shonen. Gives me major early Ippo vibes, and all the characters are just great.
Hinomaru Sumo is far better than Haikyuu.

"Black Clover characters don't have the sameface , you're just a hater"

Kunisaki is best boy.

Their eyes are completely different.
Did you read even one Bleach chapter?

We need Takei back in WSJ. My favorite WSJ artist after Murata.

When are we going to get a full team volume cover with Edgy Glasses-kun included?

...

Takei isn't coming back to Shueshia.
He was so pissed off at Shueshia for the Jump X fiasco with Shaman King Flowers he rushed both Jumbor and Ultimo to an end and started working with other magazine companies.
Even if he were to come back to Shueshia, he's too old. He's from Oda's generation. Him and Oda were assistants on Rurouni Kenshin for Watsuki at the same time.

Anyone reading Ana no Mujina?

>bleach is bad, so every other manga excused

Clovertards are the new Narutards

>not considering Ohba and Obata
Are they even doing something?

>not posting best page (of the currently translated chapters)

Ghost Tits is my favorite thing is the magazine right now.
Am I alone?

How long can it go on, though? 100 chapters in and they're already going to the national tournament. I don't see where else they can go from that unless they show the MC going pro. Or maybe they lose and try again next year. Neither sounds very likely to me.

What do user think of Saiki, I think it is pretty good and translations are graduallly coming out faster.

He shouldn't get pissy about it, the whole Jump X got cancelled, not just his manga.

He should've tried to negotiate with Shueisha to move SKF to another Jump magazine. I heard there's another Jump magazine that was recently established.

That's Jump+, not WSJ.
Platinum End in Jump+

>implying

Looks like haremshit.

Did teshihara indirectly confess to him or was he so shocked about the fact that someone who looks like teshihara said that he hates him that he just ended that thing.

>He should've tried to negotiate with Shueisha to move SKF to another Jump magazine
That's is the issue though.
They wanted him to move the series Jump SQ with the other Kai series that got to move and he didn't want to deal with a magazine change.

Last chapter relocated my sides to a new galaxy.

It is.
But it's also really funny. It's more of a comedy than a harem series.
A lot of people think it will pull a Reborn! and become a battle manga at some point as well.

>A lot of people think it will pull a Reborn! and become a battle manga at some point as well.
That's not a good thing.

>Naruto ended
>Bleach is ending

To think the two faces of anime fandom outside Japan will be no more by next year. Decline is coming.

people underestimate this manga so much

>everyone claimed it will flop after 12 weeks but it have been running in Jump for 4 years
>the most popular short gag in the magazine & it sells more than Isobee & Kochikame combined
>outlived Naruto, Beelzebub, KnB, AssClass
>anime adaptaion currently airing
>live action movie coming soon

What's bottom right?

I'd like to think that Kawada is just such a hot new talent that he's cranking out a well paced but still lengthy Jump series to get a name for himself, before JUMPing into a huge new battle manga that will make him the true pillar of Jump.

Samon-kun knew it's not Teshihara. If I remember correctly, it's a spirit that imitates people and does the exact opposite of what they do.
That's why he thought the spirit would be his ideal (as Teshihara is "too nice").
The spirit's "confessing" made it excellent though.

>teshihara indirectly confess to him
It was this
He wanted it to say it "loves" him, which would be her hating him

With this I think it could be.
It'd be nice to have a supernatural comedy battle manga with a primarily female cast.

The better analogy would be Negima then, not Reborn. You never want to go the Reborn route.

I never got into One Piece or the Big Three.

I watched a bit of One Piece and its okay but I hope something new comes out that is the next big thing so I can follow it from start to finish.

It must be so satisfying keeping up with one and x years later seeing it finally ended.

I want a really long adventure manga/anime to take the world by storm again so I can witness it.

I still haven't decided if it's better to have the anime consist of 4 min episodes or not. It's something nice to look forward to every day, but I don't think they take the series very seriously. (It's marketing potential)

Demon Blade of Destruction (Kimetsu no Yaiba)

did you miss the fairy tail train too then? you were around when that started. you just have to keep an eye on things and wait to see which ones stand the test of time, since you'll never know right at the beginning which series is going to last for many years.

Seriously people don't give it the credit it deserves this manga destroyed my sides more than I can count.

I just want Galaxy Gangs to get serialized and take Japan by storm.
I want an adventure manga focused on adventure, not fightan.

Yeah I missed it completely.

I'm already into Boku no Hero but I just want some silly shit like One Piece or Bleach with these ass pulls and stuff to witness.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Such a shame Saiki removed the ring after a single chapter. It could've been nice if he put it on longer, as he said a few times in the manga that he wishes he didn't have powers.

>literally saying you want to hop on a bandwagon
Fuck off

You're following Hero Academia, right?

You'll be fine.

it's not jump but UQ holder might last a long time, akamatsu is no stranger to long series

Get into Mob Psycho 100. In about 2.5 days from now the anime will finally air and it'll be huge.

I understand it, but chapter also shows how much he relies on his powers.
I mean didn't you see him freak out about if someone is gonna murder him since he can't read their minds.
I can understand were you are coming from, I guess him not having telepathy is like going deaf for us.
It is kinda fucked up if you think about it.

I don't think it's such a bad thing to say. Sometimes you miss "huge" things that are going on at Sup Forums without noticing and you realize you've missed something exciting.

Lol, didn't you hear? UQ Holder just got moved to the monthly magazine.
It's also fucking awful and has none of Negima's charm.

Gintama isnt in Jump anymore?

I can kind of see where he's coming from though. Weekly discussion threads of "the next big series" are always fun and make you feel like you're part of a community

It's officially in the final arc.
Same with Bleach, Toriko, and Nisekoi.
All will probably wrap up by the end of the year.

Still is.

Exactly. It's fucked up.
It can't be a happy comedy 100%. Gintama's sad moments made the series as a whole much more interesting. (Not including the current arc as it's an exception)

well shit no I didn't hear. I never said it was good though, but it seemed popular enough and full of powerlevel fightan shit. guess I was wrong about the being popular part though

>Same with Bleach
Is it for real this time, not the fake-out we got with super-Aizen that was followed by the horrible Xcution arc?

animenewsnetwork.com/news/2016-07-03/bleach-manga-to-end-in-74th-volume/.103916

Yup. Some are saying we got one volume left.
I personally don't believe that, but we're one step before the last huge fight of the series.

No, it's garbage

Being on a bandwagon on Sup Forums is fun though

I never read/watched gintama, but I do know that it is a comdey with serious arcs, but that wouldn't work with Saiki.
He is so powerful that there can literally be no conflict.
Also he is the only one who has battle oriented powers.
I know there is that guy who can speak to ghosts and a gyaru who can see the future, but those can't be used for battle.

It's ending in 3 chapters.

How?
It's genuinely funny and all the characters are being given time to develop.
There's lots of neat world building as well, like with those demon dragon dudes.

Why aren't the characters all fat fucks in this sumo manga?

I still hope against hope that Takuan won't get axed.

2005
>ichigo100
>ES21
>gintama
>death note
>neuro, d.gray man, buso renkin, hitman reborn, fullswing

the first two on this list make it a comparable if not better lineup for me personally. i do like the current lineup though.

well the ranking doesn't seem to bode well.

Bleach and Nisekoi ending will keep it safe for the next round of cuts, that's for sure.
Now the only thing is hope that it gets more popular while it's still alive.
It could pull a Samon for all we know. Right? ;_;

I literally only recognize Luffy, the Hero kid, and the food porn kid. I've only read bits of One Piece though I'm going to make assume what these series are about. Tell me how on target or off base I am.
>White haired kid with headband
Looks extremely generic and obnoxious. He probably wants to be the best at something, probably lots of obnoxious asspulls.
>Hero kid
He goes to a hero school that always gets invaded from what I hear? Maybe they should hire some better security guards.
>Shonen hair shirtless kid
Please tell me this is some kind of Hokuto no Ken like thing with a super strong muscle dude fucking shit up ?
>Basketball kid
Basketball kid?
>Food porn dude
He makes food that puts girls to sleep and then does gross things in them.
>One spike hair suit wearing ghost kid
The design kind of intrigues me. What is this actually about?

>Generic fightan MC
Some kind of Bleach clone?

>Edgy scar kid
Super edgy Naruto?

Just as terrible as always.

It might hold on for a little bit longer than expected (Illegal Rare length) because of how many big series are about to end.
I can't see it staying around though, Jump is probably going to put out some pretty promising stuff in the coming weeks as replacements.

>Please tell me this is some kind of Hokuto no Ken like thing with a super strong muscle dude fucking shit up ?
Sumo manga. I know it doesn't sound interesting in the least, but it's pretty good. MC is a slightly chubby muscular manlet.

The art was really good in the last few chapters

You're like way off the mark with almost of them except for the white haired kid, but even then I don't remember any major asspulls.

>but even then I don't remember any major asspulls
>what is the end of every single arc?
Even this current one is ending with a massive series of asspulls.
Black Clover is a terribly written series.

which asspull?
You mean that chick finally learning to controll her power through the power of friendship.
It is more a cliche rather than an asspull since the reason why she couldn't controll her power was more of a psychological thing.

>He makes food that puts girls to sleep and then does gross things in them.
If only

>White haired kid with headband
Pretty much.
Gif related is what Black Clover is if you took out the self-awareness of the gif.
>Hero Kid
No. It's actually really great. It's a good classic shonen that clearly has a lot of thought put into it. Horikoshi as writer is reminiscent of a more light hearted Togashi.
>Shonen hair shirtless kid
It's a manga about a high school sumo wrestling club. It's actually brilliant though. One of the best sports series to run in Jump, period.
>Basketball Kid
It's a series about volleyball. It has nice art, but it's just kind of boring for me.
>Food porn dude
It's more like a fighting shonen that takes place in a culinary school, and instead of fighting they have cook-offs. It's good fun.
>One spike hair suit wearing ghost kid
I haven't read too much of this. It's supposed to be like a comedy series with a neat cast of characters though.
>Generic fightan MC
It's a comedy about a dude who moves into a bathhouse with a lot of girls of supernatural origins. Might turn into a battle series later on.
>Edgy scar kid
Kind of like a generic shonen Berserk inspired thing. It's not that bad though. Clearly a rookie mangaka though.

>Dat gif
Oh my god, that is too fucking accurate.
Fuck Black Clover.

literally how fucking new are you?

I'll try the same.
>top left
Generic hyperactive character who wants to be hokage
>top right
Crybaby at the beginning of the series but then he mans up.
>mid left
He's Ippo.
>mid right
Optimistic and full of life. I'm guessing he has a rival or something like that but they're very friendly. No clue what sport they're playing though (I assume it is a sport because of the uniform)
>lower mid left
Coolest guy on the block. Never loses unless it's some technicaity
>lower mid right
He's an asshole or a trickster, if not both.
>lower left
He's unsure about himself but he's actually really strong/talented
>lower right
Troubled past but he's looking forward to the future with his companions? I have no clue about him.

>Asta's sword doesn't work in a close combat situation
>Asta gains a new sword that lunches long range attacks

ah I remember now what you mean how did he get sword anyway was it just lying around in that doujin or did it pull a gash bell were a new spell awakend in a pinch?

I'm surprised by the love for Hinomaru Sumo ITT, I barely see any threads for it.

>Optimistic and full of life.
correct
>I'm guessing he has a rival or something like that
correct
>but they're very friendly.
hahahahahaha

Naruto was a decent story. Black Clover is so stereotypical it's almost a parody.

It's just one guy, Rica Patin.

>Coolest guy on the block.
you got that right
> Never loses unless it's some technicaity
He wishes

I think it went something like this
>Asta fighting some dude inside a treasures rooms of a dungeon
>Bad guy pushs Asta back
>Asta lands on a magic sword that can solve his problem

Does doing this ever do anything but derail the thread?

He tricks people into thinking Zumo is something "amazing"

It's hardly just him. He hyperbolizes everything, but most people who read Sumo are pretty into it.

I read it and I think it's kinda bland, but it got better in the last few chapters. Definitely not as great as other sports manga, especially not Eyeshield.

MHA: Next Naruto its destined for greatness
Haikyuu: Cash cow will probably be most successful sport series in WSJ
Samon: similar to Saiki will survive but wont amount to anything big
Kimetsu: It will get axed but the mangaka has a future
Clover: Will survive for a couple of years then get axed and be forgotten for eternity like Psyren
Sumo: Next KnB
Food porn: special case but will reach world wide success
Yuragi: Next TLR
