Only the eastern part of the state looks like that. 30-40% of mostly the western part of west virginia has been logged so many times the eco system is permanently damaged. Small trees, no wild berries or fruit trees, no nut trees. Nothing but whatever wood is in demand for the construction industry. Old growth is rare. Most trees are under 20 years old.
