whats it like elsewhere in the world ?
Is Halloween the most white north american thing ever ?
Halloween is just an Anglo-Saxon thing
is there halloween in countries other than the US?
not b8ing
Isnt halloween just an american version of the mexican Dia de los muertos?
im not sure
We have Halloween.
Is it Anglo-Saxon or Celt?
Or both?
I hate Halloween. Too stupid. Too expensive. Too much drama.
Might I be transracial?
No, it's an Anglo-Saxon thing. So the US, the UK, Canada (even Quebec now, unfortunately), etc.
Catholic countries (like Quebec) have traditionally celebrated All Saints Day on November 1st instead
I would also like to know this.
Mexicans have Day of the Dead. Goes from Oct 31 to Nov 2. It's beaner Halloween. It's more like a mix of a Halloween and Mardi Gras but it's function is the same as Halloween basically.
More like Dia DE Los Muertos is a spaniardized version of Samhain.
>white
They literally bus ghetto nigglets around to the suburbs where I live.
Anyone who doesn't like Halloween can just get the fuck out.
>Samhain
Mexicans are 1/8 celtic CONFIRMED
Actually Celtic and mixed with Anglo traditions, it derives from Samhain.
youtube.com
It derives from an old folk custom in the British Isles.
>whats it like elsewhere in the world ?
you are legit retard
en.wikipedia.org
carving turnips. Its an old ass holiday.
Are you this retarded?
>white
Well yes
>north american
Try the ancient Gaelic festival of samhain
*Anglo-Saxon (and, thanks to I am told, Celtic)
Not "white" in general
you've never seen hordes of lil niglets out looking for candy gibs on Halloween, have you leaf? It's honestly one of the most niggery things ever if you think about it.
Hell I've always wondered what it's like in the southwestern US. Wouldn't seem right without falling brown leaves and chilly night air here in the northeast.
...
I fucking love Halloween. 3rd best holiday ever fifth of July and Christmas.
How? Are you buying the most expensive costumes or the biggest chocolate bars?
kek.
that movie was terrible.
but this post makes up for having seen it.
You've got the micks to thank for that
>is something which originated in Europe before the new world was discovered the most North American thing ever
Sure, you can refer to it in that way. It probably won't even make the top 100 list of retarded shit that you say in any given day, so whatever.
Does it matter, no, you want to know what does, my birthday which is on Halloween, say "happy birthday anti-christ" or your mother will die in her sleep on my birthday!
Halloween was invented by United States. We were all scared of the New Jersey woods and October was a spooky month
>chinklets and sand nigger babies show up to my door on Halloween
>not a single one wears a costume
why do immigrants have to ruin everything
no one knows, it's too ancient might even be Norse 10000 years back
It's the modern form of the Celtic Samhain (pronounced sow-wen)
best holiday ever
Halloween is the best holiday.
>50 degree weather
>Fall colors turning
>blustery cool nights
>Children roaming the streets like 1950s America
What is not to love?
>New Jersey
>woods
No such thing
pine barrens you dumb nigger
Dia De Los Muertos is pretty cool.
believe it is growing in popularity in Japan. They love western shit though
Halloween has it's roots in England so it's still really big there. Australia has always had a sort of really half-assed Halloween when I was a kid where maybe 5% of kids would dress up and trick or treat and maybe 10% of houses had lollies and chocolates or whatever. But I've noticed in the last 3 or 4 years it's starting to really catch on in a big way.
Are you fucking serious nigger? I live in the Watchung Mountains and anything that isn't street or house is forest. Try Northern Jersey too.
>Canadian telling me what's in one of our states.
When I went there, all I saw was power plants and all I smelled was shit
Halloween will forever be my favorite holiday, I'm a candy freak
All of my favorite candies comes out for Halloween so i can buy a bunch of them for myself, it's a shame i live in a spot nobody is interested to check in on Halloween
>(even Quebec now, unfortunately)
Unfortunate my ass, Halloween has always been a major thing here despite the fact were French.
You went to the urban areas famalam. You have to get off the damn highways and it's a shit ton of woods. A lot of New Jersey is still under developed because the geography is shit. Swamps and forested mountainy areas that have only been properly settled in the last 100 years
>you've never seen hordes of lil niglets out looking for candy gibs on Halloween, have you leaf? It's honestly one of the most niggery things ever if you think about it.
Always been my favorite holiday
Not true, we've only had Halloween since the 60s
1/3 of the state is woods and there's a ton of farmland too. It's not called the Garden State for niggers in Newark.
>whats not to love
half the children are now not white
No, but there are similar celebrations like day of the dead in Spanish countries, Obon festival in Japan and the Chinese New Year. Celebrating the passage of the dead or "warding off spirits by eating shit and dressing up" festivals aren't exclusive to anglos.
so its a north american thing I wonder how big it is in south america
thats unfortunate do they at least dress up ?
I have seen exactly two non whites in costume on Halloween in 24 years of living in Toronto.
I'm glad I live in an area where nonwhites wont enter. I see maybe 1 nigger a month, and they are just traveling through.
It's just a bunch of niggers coming to your door for gibs. They even have the audacity to not say trick or treat
interesting wonder why now its starting to get big outside of north america
Halloween and Christmas are pagan European things so yes its the whitest things in north America.
We got halloween here as well, but it's no door to door thing like they show in the movies, just some specific party grounds ie schools where people dress up and have fun
And it's not in October either, but February
Nonwhites don't dress up for Halloween. They just knock on your door and expect candy
wtf thats sad you ever called the little shits out . no candy next year if you don't have a costume kid kind of thing
That Christmas ferling you get for Christmas is from.the European Gods and ancestors
I give them one pack of smarties. Kids with costumes get the good shit like chips and coffee crisp.
>he doesn't go to the special Christmas mass on Christmas eve as it gently snows outside
Are you even white?
Probably the increase of American pop-culture influence.
Maybe, are Irish white?
Just moved away from the town I grew up in recently. San Bernardino County. DESU, it is visually obvious that most kids under the age of 5 in the SW are all Mexican. Again, Halloween is an Anglo-Celtic holiday. Most Mexican kids even by the 2-3rd generation don't trick-or-treat here. I get the feeling that all the abuelas just look at the grandkids saying they want to go to stranger's houses to ask for candy at look at them like they're crazy before dragging them to Mass because they say they want to do it dressed as the Devil.
Last time I gave out candy, only got white kids in a neighborhood that is mostly not filled with white people. Figures I only handed out candy to two kids.
>concealing identity
>demanding gibs
Sounds like a nigger holiday to me.
>February
Explain why?
Fucking Orthodox with their old calendar
Mexico, yes.
Kids go house to house asking for candies and young adults wear superhero or pirates costumes and get drunk
...
fuckin a lol
It's basically a Carnival, but with heavy American influence, instead of circus masks and whatever it's all Halloween costumes and disguises
Pretty fun actually
Oops, meant to reply to
its just crazy thinking of streets empty of kids on Halloween sucks you all missed out on it when you were young .
Yeah definitely would have been fun for it to have been full-on Halloween like in NA but because it wasn't a thing here we never really felt like we were missing out on anything. I've taken my kids around the last couples years, it's great seeing them have a fun time.
Samhain has become inextricably linked to halloween here but I'm not sure of the extent to which halloween was originally informed by Samhain.
Pretty nice and white.
Fifth of July?
Its not gibs they dress up for your entertainment.
Also its voluntary you don't have to give out anything.
>I hate Halloween
Leave my board
Kinda. No trick or treat bullshit but some people throw a costume party for their kids. It's an anglo thing definitely.
Yes but it was imported from the US like valentines day.
We do haloween because it's fun but people taking valentines day serious are considered ameriboos.
There was in Bosnia.
Is it Poklade?
Here in Mexico we celebrate dia de muertos buuuuut, after doing all our cultural shit, we throw halloween parties and kids misunderstood trick or treat and they only trick people by destroying private property and hitting people
Halloween in anglo countries is mostly on 31 October, while in Orthodox Christian countries it's Saint Lucas. It's called "Noc Vestica" in these countries and it's blasphemy to dress up as a witch or a monster on a Saint's Day.
Essentially. Really sad seeing people decorate less and less and barely any kids enjoying the holiday.
Dumb faggot that's a pagan devil-worshiping holiday. Try Thanksgiving. It's all-American, is wholesome and has a positive message.
We usually only get a few trick-or-treaters at our house, so last year we gave two kids each a box of full candy bars. Then later we pretended not to hear the doorbell for the other darker kids.
Halloween freezes over here in ND. We like to dress up and get smashed drunk though.
Some countries are adopting variations of it. I mean, it's fun to dress up and get and share candy with your community. No?
It used to be... then in the 90s everyone pussied out and started enforcing bullshit curfews and shit on Halloween. In most parts of North America kids aren't allowed to go out unaccompanied and they're only allowed to ring doorbells between the hours of like fucking 6 to 8 or some stupid shit.
I took my younger sisters trick or treating, on my own, from the time I was 11. We'd stay out until 10:00, 10:30 getting candy and arrive home with pillowcases full of treats. Halloween today is a shadow of its former self.
>mfw my mayor banned trick-or-treating after 9/11
and I got to stay home and watch the news of other mayors making fun of us for it.
>like 1950s America
Pining for something you've never known.
fuck man I used to go out alone with my cousins in the 90s and this was in north toronto . everyone used to take part even the Chinese and Indians I live in a 95% white town north of toronto and its still really big here .
...
