Who did it better?

Who did it better?

I tried to find the same quality for each side.

People like to forget that DBZ always had shit animation. Minus superior Kai of course.

Dragon Ball never had the same quality issues.

I like old Trunks. He looked meaner...more Vegeta-esque.

DBZ can be really well done when it wants to, but as for me, the color and character designs sells it to me.

Trunks on the top left just looks worse to me. If not just because he looks like a fucking cosplayer.

Dragon Ball saved a lot of time by making only 15 minutes of animation per episode

DB Super is trying hard to distance itself from muscles for some reason. The redraw of Future Trunks was very obvious when they tried to pair it up with the originals.

Muscles are cool, no homo.

Most anime does that though.

Is Jon Boyega gonna play him in the live action movie?

>DB Super is trying hard to distance itself from muscles for some reason.
It's not Super, it's how Toriyama draws his character designs now in general. Heck Super Saiyan God explicitly makes Goku slimmer by design but it was his strongest form until Blue

DBZ's artstyle is better.

Nu Trunks is a fatty.

kek
Trunks is wearing baggy pants though.

Yea, I got the message after I saw that too. Beerus was strange, after all. Then a skinny transformation? That's the theme of Super.

I just say Super because, well, when talking about DB all we say is "DB this ... " "DB that ... "

that would actually be pretty lit 2bh

>mfw those are skinny jeans

Cells saga had the best quality.

Both ironically and unironically.

Buu saga is fine too, but the comparison isn't fair because it's pretty perfect anyway.

Nigger look at that Z forehead, you know instantly who the father is

OOH, NOW I get it.

cell saga artstyle was really great

>tfw you have a 5 head but Trunks does it better

This shit was badass, makes me envy people in their teenage years at the turn of the 90's watching anime.

They got Evangelion too.

To the autists, yes I know it's from a movie.

DBZ fluctuated a lot. Sometimes it was quality, sometimes it was QUALITY. Both in terms of art and animation.

ayy lmao that fucking fivehead on the right

Super's flashback trunks looks literally out of an amateurish deviantart account that draws bad DBZ porn.

He looks good in his closeup though.

And Super saved money by using the resize tool in lieu of actual animation.

what the fuck man

>Super is a good anime, fuck off DBZ kids it's all nostalgia, Z has just as many shitty animation compared to Super

seems like there isn't as much emphasis put on the physique of anime characters in general anymore.

even in JJBA, the characters went from swole, perfectly proportioned physiques to twink status.

i dunno if that quote is something i should get the reference to, but i'm not delusional enough to think Z didn't have animation issues.

Doesn't mean that webm doesn't look ridiculous, either.

The anime industry is geared to cute girls doing cute things

>even in JJBA, the characters went from swole, perfectly proportioned physiques to twink status.
That's exactly what happens in the manga too.

The thing is that Z had it's moments so it was easy to forgive it when it went to shit creek.

That being said, Super has gotten better, not as good as the best animated scenes in Z but it's way better than what it stared out with.

nice trips

I think it's less that and more that it hasn't completely shat the bed in the past 10 episodes or so. It's not really good though. And yes, that dragon was like 11 episodes ago.

>Then a skinny transformation? That's the theme of Super.
But it's only the SSG. SSB is buff as normal.

This isn't limited to anime/manga or just Japan.
Think about the main characters in American action movies in the late 70s until the early 90s. They, more often than not, were big muscular men. Hell, even in non-action movies men were, at least, considerably tall and decently built.
Compare them to main characters in most movies now, and you get to see MCs in action that sometimes don't have even a bit of muscle, and some are even short to boot.

I see what you're saying, Rambo and Terminator comes to mind.

Ironically we're in the decade/generation with the most killing sprees for some damn reason.

Not enough catharthic manly movies.

We don't have as much super cool muscular dudes to emulate, so all the teenage nerds are left alone with their thoughts.

It did, but you just don't realize it because you only remember the good episodes by the non-shit directors (I know there's a comparison image floating around of the three or so different ones around the time of Namek), and you've only seen post-broadcast episodes on top of that.

DB Super will probably look better once the BDs come out. Just like the DBZ episodes you see today. Though, the QUALITY moments were substantially less bad back, I will admit. But it was still pretty shit anyway.

There was the Expendables which were nice homages to that era of movies.

Kind of, Expendables 2 was pretty ass and I haven't watched 3, my main issue is if you have 25 action heroes including meme magic chuck norris in one team and on the other you've got Van Damme and Boyka alone, it's fucking bullying.

I don't think it's quite that new movies have no role models, I think it's simply heroes have become a bit more everymen you can identify with easier. Humanized a lot.

>Tfw Super is responsible for the mass murders on America's street for not providing sufficient violence on TV.

even when the animation in DBZ was bad, the overall look was a lot more cohesive, with better color pallets and overall tone
excluding the one fight scene with vegeta that had really good animation, the best animation in super is only marginally better than the worst of dbz

It's almost the same to me, but I don0t like the way DBS Trunk's hair is drawn, too uneven, whoever suggesterd dawing separate hair locks should be kicked in the balls.

>the one fight scene with vegeta that had really good animation
Uh... which? I don't remember any vegeta fights with good animation yet.

But Super hasn't been officially dubbed yet.

Anyway, there's less "ideal" heroes. No John Matrix to drop guys off cliffs and throw pipes into chests. Just drunkards and men with daddy issues.

I'm more weirded out by the fact that the trunks on the left looks like he's right out of some low quality cartoon pornsite, that's some palcomix shit right there.

You really don't see the massive difference, especially the 2016 version of the Future Trunks redraws?

The 2016 body implies no broad shoulders, and his black tank-top implies that it is larger than the tank-top on the right side of the 1992 version. His belt is there to accentuate the thin waist line and wide shoulders giving him a more "manly", "tougher" look, and the 2016 version implies it is just a belt on his hips where the 1992 version implies the belt goes up to his stomach/waist, which is much thinner than a man's hips and makes much more sense to be there according to the way he is drawn.

Eh, not everyone notices anatomy as intimately I guess.

>If it wasn't for the live action movie we wouldn't have gotten Super and the shittiness that came with it
>The live action movie also fucked the main series up more than it already was

Yea dude I had to delete my comment to edit it to make myself clearer. But I agree, the left side is painfully stupid, even if it's animated and not just a still image.

This. The teams in 2 were stacked to all hell. And don't bother with 3.

still makes me kek

By the way, the larger size tank top on the left also makes him look less athletic by hiding his waist line, which is already implied with having no wide shoulders.

It's the little things that make you look like you actually lift weights or train the body for martial arts.

What if Black and Zamara (I think that's his name) see from their point of view that the Gods are evil. Incompetent. And they wage war with the God hierarchy. At first, Goku and the rest think to obviously side with Beerus and the Gods, but they waver as they are but "pawns". Perhaps some people switch sides and a multiversal civil war breaks out.

Why of course the Cell saga would have the best quality, it has the perfect villain.

Goku will never, ever, ever, side with someone that will kill innocent humans. Neither will Trunks. Or Gohan.

His beat down on Freeza had movie-tier quality.

One of the less shit things that have happened in Super so far is Goku implying he had no intention of letting Beerus and Champa lord over him and his friends for too long.
That said, what said.

To be fair, Jojo was rather gradual.

I see, I couldn't get to watching that shit because... well.

Perhaps not side with Black, but not side with Beerus and the hierarchy either.

Yeahhhh... stick with the movie when it comes to Revival of F. With Battle of Gods it's personal choice.

The only thing Revival of F did better in the show was Gohan.

>18 years of animation technique development
>only worried about how to reduce quality to make it cheaper

fucking hell this industry is daed

Black and Zamasu think that humans were a mistake made by the gods though, so from their perspective they're helping the gods out who, from their perspective, are too arrogant to admit they screwed up with creating humans.

I'm guessing the humans in universe 10 or in other universes did something really awful that appalled Black and Zamasu, to the point where they sincerely think they're doing a good thing (which is rare since most Dragon Ball villains are complete assholes who do nothing for the greater good).

>Black and Zamasu

Don't know why I differentiated, they're probably the same person. Black could be another universe's variant of Zamasu or Future Zamasu.

I say RoF has plenty of shit anyway. I can't stand that CGI.

>I think it's simply heroes have become a bit more everymen you can identify with easier. Humanized a lot.

That was a trend that arguably started even before the 90s though. Just look at Die Hard.

>If it wasn't for the live action movie we wouldn't have gotten Super
?
Was it that the movie was so shit Toriyama had to get off his ass to make sure it wasn't the last word of Dragon Ball?

Apparently Toriyama said in an interview that he made Super because of how bad the movie was.

Why is it that the kids in the Jojo generals always spout this meme that only the newest 4 parts are good? The first 4, especially the first 3, had a charm to them that is lost as JJBA just becomes who has the most ridiculous stand dick measuring contents.

The art style also went to shit. No, it was not a good move to turn it from bara to fujoshit.

Generals are garbage.

Yeah. If it isn't waifuwars, or even worse husbandowars, it's endless raging over which part is worse.

The layout of Jojo, while making for an interesting story, makes that kind of fighting an infinite amount worse.

What was with the black armband? Was it to signify gokus death?

>stand dick measuring contents
Most stands in Jojo, especially protagonist ones, are strong thanks to creative use instead of sheer power. Stone Free, Echoes, even The World's timestop only lasts for a few seconds.

I don't think they mean literally humans. Ningen stands for human, but can also mean sentient life. For example, namekians are also ningen aka humans.

So universe 10 might not have an earth. Zamasu hating mortals makes more sense seeing as he has also destroyed other planets, not just earth.

I think subbers need to be careful not to assume human means earth humans.

Holy shit what the fuck is that 5Head?

Vegeta's genes.

Thank you user. That makes A LOT more sense than if Black was just gunning for humans specifically. We need to tell the press.

HEY!
Why is part of my masturbation vid used here?

did they just fucking retcon his gains?

Everyone lost their gains in Super.

>Resistance leader operator Mai

Future Trunks sucks life if he really does lose such waifu

I don't see any difference.

Well, aside from the hair, there's DBS Future Trunks not having hilariously 80's shoulders.

All that experience in the Pilaf Gang paid off in the end.

Super is really unfortunate, huh?

BRAVO TOEI

why did the fuck up his hair on purpose like that? kid trunks still has the normal color...

why did they do everything so poorly? do they not have money for people to do a good job? fanfic tier sequel

Dear fucking lord this fucking shit looks embarrassing. Meanwhile, look at the original Dragon Ball.

>those repeating pans
It's kind of interesting to notice what looks really bad nowadays.

I don't disagree that it's very nice otherwise, though. I'm just commenting on how tastes have changed for some of the cinematography stuff.

Not at all, Black is a miracle of the Universe.

It's OK, it's quite obvious with Goku and Vegeta being thinner, that their training with Whis is forcing them to rely on technique better than pure force, contrary to what they were doing till now. The last fight of Goku VS Goku Black showed much more feinting and dodging than all the fights in DBZ. Same for the giant fire balls, I'm pretty sure we're going to see those less and less.
