okay now these curtain wall window units are 12+ feet tall, and 5+ feet wide. the glass itself is 2 panes of glass with Argon Gas in the middle. The inside piece of glass is TEMPERED GLASS, the outside piece is annealed plate glass. Does anyone here know what happens when you break a piece of tempers glass? It blows up and shatters into millions of small pieces that goes everywhere. The annealed plate glass break into big pieces.

it does, the outside piece of glass is still annealed plate. that is why it breaks into big pieces. but the inside piece of glass is tempered glass for safety reasons. The glass is glued in with structural caulk on these unitized systems.

These modern fancy ass hotels use a laminated safety glass much like car windshields. They are made not to drop glass down on people and to be very hard to break if someone falls against them or tried to suicide. They are only moderately tempered and might have a fairly thick plastic layer in them. You really do literally need a sledge hammer (like the shooter used) to break through them.
