Is this even a big deal? Catalonia has no army and Spanish are nogunz cucks. There won't be a civil war, they can't fight.

There are several police forces involved:
National Police, Guardia Civil (national as well), Mossos d'Escuadra (catalan police) and little police forces in almost every town.
Every police force is supposed to comply with the Law; the difference is that they're commanded by different governments (national, catalan or local).
However, their efforts are sometimes coordinated under a single commander in such cases, since the law allows to do such a thing when a single police force isn't enough. The problem is that catalan police force, Mossos, betrayed National Police and Guardia Civil in a veiled fashion:
Mossos told they would prevent the ballot to happen before it even started since it was declared illegal, but they did nothing to and called for the national police forces reinforcements once the ballot centers were full of people.

Smart move by them, they played their card well.

Since plenty of people are probably willing to die for this, all that's left is to force independence until Madrid kills enough civilians to force the international community to intervene.

Will mossos actually fight back? They are the only catalan organization that can do so.

It is a very clever move, but it's also very hypocritical. Catalan Government and Police Chiefs actually wanted a real and worse disgrace to happen, and so a lot of people in the ballot centers: you can see how they used their own fucking children as human shields. I'm not fond of police charges, but National Police and Guardia Civil were not as harsh as the press made it look, considering they were so fucking outnumbered, often "welcomed" with strong hostility (anarchist groups and commies throwing stones a la 'intifada'), treasoned by their catalan colleagues and having to deal with shit as children human shields.
And yes, Police beat the shit out of a lot of people but they didn't cause severe harm. Only two people in major riot scenearios were hospitalized. And most of the news they are spreading are fake: they claimed police agents raped women, beat six-year-old children, etc. Everything was proven false, but the fuse was ignited and didn't mattered anymore.

Most Mossos Chiefs and politicians in charge of them are separatists to the core, and so a very good portion of their agents, but there are also a lot of non-separatists among their ranks. Mossos being butthurt with another Mossos it's a more likely scenario than Mossos fighting back against national police forces. Whether Mossos dare to fight back, it's pre-civil war then, and the fucking army would be deployed to suffocate the rebellion, and no European state would complain about Spain being "bad guys". Won't happen.
