So I take it people are going to go on about this for a while now? Glad I never cared much about Berserk nor am I a whiner so I don't have to care much beyond being slightly intrigued at anime fandoms latest full on meltdown over something.
Here's a hint, anime industry and it's tendencies right now, kind of fucking terrible and in the process of a minor implosion due to being stretched to the limits of it's resources and ever diminishing talents. Don't expect things from an industry that appears to be spinning around in place with no sense of direction or internal quality control and you can't be disappointed or angry. It's like being pissed at a baby for shitting it's pants in public, it doesn't know any better nor can it really control itself so why expect different?

The visuals were just one part bad about it, the audio, in particular how the power metal kicks in whenever Guts does something badass really made it feel like I was watching some russian anime tribute or something. Really felt like they missed the tone of the series.
I don't see it improving considering this episode was laughably bad.

Berserk fan here. Just watched the first episode. Wasn't great but it has potential. I enjoyed the CGI in the movies since it was pretty good and there was also a great deal of traditional animation. I hope the rest isn't so heavy on CGI as the first episode was but I have the feeling that won't be the case.
Anyway, it's probably not easy to find a studio that's willing to animate something like berserk so I just feel glad that this exists. I suppose that so far that's the best thing that can be said about it, that it's better than nothing.

2nd episode was slightly better, glad they at least acknowledged all of the arcs they are skipping (so they probably figured since the 1997 anime went over the Snake Baron and ignored the Count, they weren't going to retell that stuff and just moved ahead)
Animation is still hot garbage, but the 2d segments were good.

The audience is anyone who hasn't heard of Berserk. Animes are usually advertising ploys to get people to buy the manga. In this case, what appears to have happened is the owning company went 'we need to produce something to promote miura's new chapters for the cheapest possible'. So bam, we get music and 3d models used in the movie but none of the effort that made the movies good.

I haven't read past the Black Swordsman arc so I can't say if they were a good adaption, but Sup Forums mostly complained about the visuals which were not too bad.
They were bad though. The CG didn't work for those either. The best parts of the movie were in 2D animation.
And the rape scene as hot as it was felt wrong. She was straight up into it in the movie, doing shit like sticking her tongue out before Griffith kissed her and just overall looking like she enjoyed it.
Yeah, they weren't too bad. Especially in the 3rd installment. They just cut way too much content, to the point where you see people complaining about "but wheres mah medieval anime?, "whats this demon shit?". And (in my opinion) the eclipse wasn't done properly.
