2007: TTGL, Baccano, Higurashi 2, Seirei no Moribito, Nodame Cantabile, Rucky Star, Mononoke, Claymore, Kaiji, Dennou Coil, Byousoku 5cm, ef, Clannad, Gundam 00, SZS, Moyashimon, Genius Party, KnK movies 1 & 2, Sword of the Stranger, and Geass and Death Note were ongoing...
Then a bunch of other watchable stuff like Darker Than Black, Bokurano, Seto no Hanayome, Minami-ke, Genshiken 2, Saiunkoku Monogatari, Lovely Complex, Macross Frontier...
It was like an endless torrent of animu manna from heaven. 2006 was a great year too (Gintama, Eureka 7, GitS SAC 2, Black Lagoon, Haruhi, Ouran, etc.).
Was any other year in the 2000s/2010s comparable? Why are we mostly swamped with shit now? Is it all Lucky Star's fault?
2007 and 2008 were fantastic years. A lot of great shows continuing from before, as well as newer series airing.
Ethan Ortiz
Any of those 2007 series would instantly be AOTS if shown today.
Jackson Murphy
>Claymore
I can see making arguments for most of the other stuff but werent people really down on the anime version of Claymore?
Sebastian Flores
2011 was pretty great too, with Kaiji S2, F/Z, CP, Hyouge Mono, Steins Gate, Hanasaku Iroha, Nichijou, Yuru Yuri, Idolmaster, Ro-Kyu.Bu, HxH, and Horizon.
Grayson Cruz
Claymore A lot of people didn't like the Claymore ending, but the show was some addictive shit, I rushed home from classes to check if Eclipse had released the latest episode. It's still a good watch now.
Oops, thought it was 2006 because the subbers finally finished releasing it then.
It was okay, but the kid was annoying as fuck. Typical anime pacifist bullshit.
Sebastian Richardson
2014 - Space Dandy, Ping Pong, Mushishi, Tamako Love Story, Giovanni's Island, Marnie, Shirobako, Crayon Shin-Chan movie 22, Animator Expos, Wonder, Harmonie
2010 - Tatami Galaxy, House of Five Leaves, K-On!!, Heartcatch Precure, Colorful, Katanagatari, You are Umasou, MIdori-ko, Gum Boy, Shoka, Arriety, Panty and Stocking, Hidamari, Disappearance of Haruhi, Soredemo, Kuragehime, Legend of Koizumi, Hoshi no Umi
Gavin Baker
What shows from the last few years would you consider as good as the shows listed already? What's going to be remembered?
>Eclipse
Christ almighty, it's been like half a decade since they quit. What a shame, they had nice subs.
>Yuru Yuri >bad
C'mon son. Also, Idolmaster wasn't a masterpiece but it had a number of great episodes. Episode 15, for example.
Eli Hughes
Nope
Carson Miller
What's wrong with YY? I can understand Idolmaster since everyone isn't into idolshit.
Lincoln Nelson
>Idolmaster >Celebrating the cancer that is slowly killing anime
In a few years every single thing will be about idols
Jayden Bennett
Hipsters will always complain when any manga gets anime adaption no matter good or bad. You'd get lucky to get adaption on par with Claymore nowadays
Michael Torres
Not that guy. I watch Yuru Yuri and I enjoyed it but the fanbase, specifically people posting on Sup Forums are fucking cancerous.
Kayden Wilson
user how many times, The fan base shouldn't impact your judgement on the show.
Jonathan Smith
So for 2016, I've enjoyed Re:Zero and Kiznaiver, am I missing out on anything else worth watching that has aired or will be airing?
Asher Butler
The Imas anime was hardly the catalyst for idolshit becoming so popular. Idol fans have always been extreme and anime was another outlet for them to express their love for it. Just hope we don't get another insanely popular series like Idolmaster or Love Live or even more spinoffs/sequels.
Michael Foster
Nijiiro Days!
Mason Perry
>Re:Zero and Kiznaiver brooo

Dude what? I've always thought YY fans were mostly invisible in the bigger scheme of things. It's been pretty quiet for a while.

So we're finally at the point where the "golden age" babbies are from the 00s instead of 90s.
Jacob Sullivan
>tfw you're a golden age baby
Benjamin Cruz
Nothing this season looks interesting. What gives?
James Powell
> What shows from the last few years would you consider as good as the shows listed already? What's going to be remembered? OP here. I haven't watched much anime in the last few years, but here are the ones that stick with me: - The Devil is a Part-Timer - Shirobako - Daily Lives of High School Boys - Yowamushi Pedal - Bakuman - Tiger & Bunny - Parasyte - OPM - other watchables: Level E, No Game No Life, Attack on Titan
Why yes, I do like comedies.
Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check them out.
Michael Taylor
>I have shit taste. What gives?
Landon Sanchez
Haruhi Lucky Star K-ON! Some other shit nobody cares about Love Live
Robert Anderson
Maybe this show is more your speed.
>Onara Gorou >Onara Gorou follows the everyday life of Gorou, the "most admirable of farts," as he solves problems in ways that only a fart can.
Good taste. I wasn't a huge fan of Yowamushi Pedal but it certainly has a large number of fans. Bakuman too, I didn't care much for the anime despite liking what I had read of the manga at that point.
Connor Cruz
Did you skip Euphonium? It's better than probably everything on your list.
Xavier Jackson
I don't deny getting into anime in the early 00s, but I did watch some of the classics from the 90s (everyone of my gen saw Dragonball as a kid). The 80s and 90s had their own heights, including all the classic anime films.
I'm just wishing that we would get more of the action, sci-fi, adventure, and imaginative scenarios that we used to. I'm not one for slice of life, unless it's really well done like Kamichu. Give me more Last Exile, Black Lagoon, GitS SAC, Samurai Champloo, Eureka 7, FMA, Kino's Journey, Fist of the North Star, Mononoke, Eden of the East. (Yeah, I know it's not gonna happen.)
Justin Fisher
2011-2012 are the best years in anime
Cooper Rivera
Claymore was pretty good except for the ending.
I wish they would retcon it and do a season 2.
Josiah Anderson
Yeah I didn't watch Euphonium, kind of passed over it because slice of life. Maybe I'll give it a shot.
Thanks. Yowamushi was fun, Bakuman took some time to really warm up. If you have any recommendations I'm all ears.
Xavier Bell
Sakamoto Desu ga
That anime is pretty fucking comfy and funny user
Luis Martinez
>Season is all fujoshit, idolshit, and mmoshit >Hurrrrr you just have shit taste Kill yourself back to Gaia.

Put some effort into your bait.
Landon Richardson
>everything ids baid :---Dddd
Eli Torres
>slice of life It's more a sports drama than anything. Definitely not a slice of life.
Benjamin Baker
Macross delta if you're into that. A lot of people have been put off by the idols though. Even I was planning to skip it because of that, but it actually turned out to be pretty good.
I agree with this,2014 wasn't as good as 2006-2007 but it had some pretty decent shows that went unnoticed like M3,Argevollen,Ranpo kitan and hamatora
William Wright
>it had some pretty decent shows that went unnoticed >lists some of the worst shows of the year
I'm surprised you didn't mention Dai Shogun desu.
Isaiah Clark
TTGL was fucking shit bar first 8 episodes
Oliver Torres
You are watching the absolute crap 2016 has produced so far
Liam Adams
I'm guessing yours ranpo Kitan and hamatora since the other 2 were barely watched. I didn't really get why people thought those 2 were bad though, did they expect something else going into them? I don't really remember what Sup Forums thought of Hamatora and Kitan didn't really get threads.
Cameron Thomas
Can confirm, Sakamoto Desu Ga is on my list. Would watch again. Need more of that stuff
Okay, if Euphonium is a sports drama, it's definitely a go.
So did we ever get more stuff like Black Lagoon, Samurai Champloo or Kino's Journey? Enlighten an oldfag
Evan Powell
>So did we ever get more stuff like Black Lagoon, Samurai Champloo or Kino's Journey? no and we never will.
Wyatt Bennett
This is such a retarded thread, you can literally take a snapshot of any year and find like 10+ good shows no matter what year, even 2015 which had like two garbage seasons still had Fafner Exodus, Rolling Girls, Ninja slayer, Pleiades, Rokka no yuusha, NNBR, Noragami Aragoto, Shirayukihime, One punch man, Lupin, Haikyuu, ConRevo, and the GuP movie and Yamato movie.
"According to this chart, not only does 2007 have the highest number of [top-rated] shows, but still has the lowest percentage of sequels, so again it claims the prize as the best year."
It's true that you'll find 10+ good shows in any year, but the overall number has declined.
Henry Murphy
>Ninja Slayer >Rokka no Yuusha >Noragami Aragoto >Shirayukihime >Haikyuu
an attempt was made
Zachary Thomas
Shirayukihime and Haikyuu were two of the top three shows of 2015 though. The only contestable one is Shirayukihime can possibly be replace with lupin, with exodus being the best show of 2015.
Colton Hall
>MAL and ANN wew

Pardon an oldfag just nostalgically visiting Sup Forums.
I've just started watching Mob Psycho 100 to see what all the kids are on about.
Matthew Watson
Eupho and Miss Hokusai are better than all of these.
William Gutierrez
2011
Penguindrum Chihayafuru Hyouge mono All master pieces then there is Yuru yuri Nichijou Kaiji s2 Tiger and bunny USAGI drop Which are all really good then Hxh Fate zero Steins gate Pmmm Working s2 Ika musume 2 No 6 Idol master Ano hana Which I don't like but are really well regarded
Colton Hill
>e-peen is still a thing even on Sup Forums For some reason I thought we were above this.
Good watch, nice summary of the whole trend since the 90s tl;dr the global economic collapse killed the anime boom in the West and we lost manglobe and long original shows
Michael Rogers
>the global economic collapse killed the anime boom in the West it's coming back now, i feel
Brayden Bailey
Mob psycho 100 saved 2016
Nicholas Richardson
Just posting to say you have great taste and are therefore mah nigga
Lucas Fisher
I certainly hope anime comes back. Why can't we have a nice streaming platform to watch shows on and pay for them, damnit. I'll pay for more Welcome to the NHK or Samurai Champloo or whatever Bones decides to make.
Thanks. Which ones were your favorites from that era?
I got pretty deep into anime in '07, even translated and edited for sub groups. It was a fun and crazy time. I remember posting translator/novel notes for Spice and Wolf here on Sup Forums, haha. Nowadays everyone can sit back and just watch Crunchyroll/Horriblesubs. Kind of glad those days are over, it was a lot of work.
Benjamin Bailey
wow, I didn't realize people could have such shit taste
James Davis

>F/Z, Hyouge Mono, Steins Gate, Yuru Yuri, Idolmaster, Ro-Kyu.Bu, HxH What a truly terrible year for anime.
Hudson Jones
"moeshit" is such a retarded term
Henry Campbell
Rakugo, but if you're looking for something like those shows, you'll be disappointed.
