For a traditionalist Catholic this is very hard to accept. The leader of the church must embody the church and not only choose the beliefs which are convenient to him. While historically he's not the worst Pope, there is an undercurrent of anger that will cause damage if not addressed correctly.

To OP; "rigid" "traditionalists" didn't cause a schism. Francis spouting modernist nonsense is what got this ball rolling under his pontificate. He is the natural result of the modernism that has infested the Church since the Second Vatican Council.
There will be a schism and when there is, the hierarchy loyal to the schism will blame the "rigid" Catholics who adhere to an "ideal" that is "old and no longer life-giving" (as Francis said in his Apostolic Exhortation).
Adhere to the faith of your fathers. Don't follow every new damn novelty that comes around. Don't accept anything less than the Catholic faith. Read. Study. Pray.
