>In a land where black snow falls in the shape of swastikas, there exists a nightmarish prison camp known as Auschwitz. It is run by a fascist, flatulent race of aliens called the Ass Goblins, who travel in apple-shaped spaceships to abduct children from the neighboring world of Kidland. Prisoners 999 and 1001 are conjoined twin brothers forced to endure the sadistic tortures of these ass-shaped monsters. To survive, they must eat kid skin and work all day constructing bicycles and sex dolls out of dead children.
>While the Ass Goblins become drunk on cider made from fermented children, the twins plot their escape. But it won't be easy. They must overcome toilet toads, cockrats, ass dolls, and the surgical experiments that are slowly mutating them into goblin-child hybrids.
>Forget everything you know about Auschwitz...you're about to be Shit Slaughtered.

BTW if you read one of Hesse's books you are done. He mostly just changes a few geographical/cultural items in a book he has already written and he call it a new book. Weakness.
The Foundation for Exploration
>This was good in some aspects but viewed through today's eye the things that stuck out the most were the rampant racist remarks. It seemed to insinuate that the whiter or more aryan the civilization the more CIVILIZED the people were. Not true in general and in my experience.
YOU NEED TO KNOW THE BOOKS
jesus christ that one was torture in HS.
This.
Constance Garnett translation is best imho
This is a lie.
As far as I can discern, the main connecting theme of his works is the dialectics of things in general, and of the human condition specifically.
"Demian, "Siddharta", "Narcissus and Goldmund" and "Klingsor's Last Summer" share this theme, but they are entirely separate works both in content and tone. You may dismiss Hesse because he was a lefty, but to say that he was repetitive does him grave injustice.
Klingsor's Last Summer is my favorite read ever.
So I should read this first and this latter?
Devils is more political and humourous, so maybe that could suit you (and many others) a little better.
Stop posting that fucking ogre it makes me sick just to look at it

It's not a lie. it's like, you know, my opinion man. I read 5 of his books on someone else's recommendation and I found them to have the same theme: "I am a spoiled little boy who had everything handed to him and I fucked everything up from ignorance and avarice and now I deserve to be forgiven." Your results may vary.

Yeah it's fantasy hogwash but it's a great allegory for how globalization brings nothing but war and unwashed masses of brown invaders to the West.
>how globalization brings nothing but war
Because before the age of globalization, there literally was world peace.
Thanks, you've single-handedly managed to turn this into a cringe thread. Asshole.
Seriously. Tell me what I missed. I feel like I wasted a lot of time reading Hesse. Maybe your enlightenment can help me recover value from time for books that I have already read.

The Belgariad and The Mallorean by David Eddings.

Cant tell if it's a mockery of the holocaust or if it's commie propaganda saying nazis were the ones who ate children
I forgot:
Nordskog's "We Bankers" is a must read.
...
So, the plot reads just like real anime?
I think so
I don't think there was any enlightenment reading Hesse involved on my part. His works just spoke to me. It wasn't just his beautiful, rich prose, it was also the way he described the human condition. How could it not speak to any moderately intelligent human confused by the state of the world?
I liked Demian because it's about coming of age and guidance (or lack thereof).
I liked Klingsor's Last Summer because it's about self-inflicted unhappiness.
I liked Siddharta because it describes a charmingly spiritual journey -- and I'm not even a spiritual person myself.
I liked Narcissus and Goldmund because it's about heart vs. mind.
I liked Steppenwolf because it's a pretty insane trip.
I don't like his early works because his prose wasn't so refined back then. And I didn't enjoy The Glass Bead Game because it struck me as very dry, but I assume that's owed to the fact that I'm still young and I haven't had the experience necessary to relate to its contents.
Other than that, Hesse is a great author for anyone who's a thinking, feeling being. But ultimately, it's all down to subjective taste. I won't judge you for disliking him. But please dislike him for the correct reasons.
Archeofuturism is a necessity. Its about the coming tribal age.
Only use to clean your shit , (((Simone))) this is feminist shit WTF

The Republic, Storm of Steel and The Righteous Mind are must-reads to understand what happened in the last century. Needs more Moldberg, though.
