Demonstrably false. The Nazis bombed hospitals with Red Cross markings on them, five minutes before the shelling of Westerplatte, the event typically agreed upon as the starting of WW2.

Yeah, we have never been a land power. Always naval and in WW2, often air-based. The Americans contributed good soldiers, lots of capital and lots of planes. We contributed naval power (especially earlier in the war, USN took over near the end) and intel. Soviets contributed manpower and land forces out the ass.
