Naga should have had a larger presence in the anime.

The ojou laugh makes me hard and I don't understand why.

I honestly would have liked the series better if it was more like the movies/OVAs. Especially with try it just got too close to a shounen battle deal. And the OVA character designs were godly.

Just embrace it. It is a sign of sophistication.

And she can't run away from my dick.

They're the best, simple as that.

Which team are you on boys

What are they saying? Lina either way, Naga is just a dumb broad.

It's from a Granblue Fantasy event where you had to choose which one to join and that was the character you got for free, you had to beat the other one later and they'd join you then.

Lina
Smaller breasts are objectively superior to larger breasts. Prove me wrong.

On another note, I never did understand her outfit. If she is wearing a jumpsuit, then why is there a sash over her chat and underneath her coat?

I agree.

My brother of another mother.

Small breasts are always good. Tig ol' bitties turn into saggy pancakes.

Oh, the titty girl created by the animators for the sole purpose to add a titty girl into the movies...
Fuck you OP, let me forget her useless existance.
Amelia is 10 times better than this walking fanservice made to be fanservice.

Lina

Is it impossible to obtain the Slayers characters in Granblue now? Didn't know the game even existed when the thing happened.

I'm an Amelia fan. But you're not helping. Naga was created to be a parody of ecchi in Shounen. But she was still a good character by herself.

Amelia was better. But Naga was still fine. I hope Amelia never grows taller. Just bigger.

yes, unless they re-run the event again they're unavailable

Naga was my first animu-related fap.

This

I couldn't get past the 2nd Season. The OVAs were just too good. The anime was to watered down for my tastes. At least if they had Naga as a proper foil for Lina it would had been more entertaining.

...

Naga all the way. She is far more entertaining. All the posers in this thread has no idea why Naga was a great character for being a parody.

>Naga better than Gourry, Amelia, and Zel
Son, i'm disappointed.

I would say that the OVAs were better as far as character design (Golem maker's daughter, duke's daughter, village headman's daughter weren't too busy and looked nice), production values (Duh), humour, OST (I can't get enough of the EDs for the movies youtube.com/watch?v=kG4dgSb0TUE) and most apsects except worldbuilding and having an overarching plot.

The first movie was the best IMO in that it actually had a somewhat serious plot with the dead elves along with all of the goofy shit.

Suffering.

>just entered puberty
>start watching slayers
>suddenly, Naga

>All of the doujins are ancient and as a result look terrible
Naga deserves better

How did the LNs end? Did Lina actually win the Gourry-bowl or was that left ambiguous?

>Almost all the movies and OVAs are about Lina teaming up with a character that have nothing to do with the official storyline, and appear only in some prequel novels

Seeing her, as a character dedicated to justice, cowed into murderhoboism via peer pressure was definitely the best part.

Don't hate on Naga. She is related to one of the main characters and kind of shows up in Evolution-R anyways.

>implies characters designed to be a parody cannot themselves be a better character than those it parodies
Keep telling yourself that nerds.

>implies characters designed to be a parody cannot themselves be a better character than those it parodies
Except I literally said she was. Can't you read?

>Naga was created to be a parody of ecchi in Shounen. But she was still a good character by herself.

You Ameliafags can get annoying.

Can't help it...
I'm into ecchi, and enjoy fanservice a lot. But this character look like she was designed only to force a big titted almost naked girl into the movies. And what worst cause of that best girl was left out.

Getting called out on bad replies would get annoying I'm sure. You can correct this by actually reading.

It's just a parody of titty monsters, much like how Konosuba is largely a parody of isekai LNs.

No, what is annoying is defending one boob bimbo over the other.

Dude, Amelia was in 70+ episodes of the show. Naga was only in 5 movies, 2 OAVs and a handful of games. And Amelia was in one of those movies and games as well.

Amelia won dude. Stop acting like she was excluded.

There is more than one guy posting Amelia in this thread. And I already told the other idiot to stop bashing Naga at and

Holy shit, you both are dumb.

GATT DAYUM

Parody or not is pointless.
Is like go watching a star trek movie and have captain Kirk with the all fleet replaced by bikini pornstars just cause "why not? boobies!"

I thought that the entire cast was good with the exception of Sylphiel who just didn't hang around long enough, and Filia who spent too much time focusing on her whi- I mean golden dragon privilege. I just think that Naga especially with her interactions with Lina really worked out well for the comedy parts.

...

The problem is not the fact she is not funny or whatever but like i said here: Think of one piece, imagine all the movies about Luffy teaming up with a bikini babe never mentioned in the manga/anime. Or Naruto. Or every other existing anime/manga or western production. Why?

You're an idiot and need to stop repeating your opinion when at least three different people have shouted you down.

Naga was a parody character. But she was also good as a character beyond that. And your Star Trek comparison is dumb since Galaxy Quest did the same thing as Naga. A good parody.

Flash news fag.
"It's a parody, doesn't mean or justify shit".
Naga is just fanservice for the movies. Period.
She have no other meaning or relevance in the Kanzakaverse.

But Naga was in the LNs, just as part of the Slayers Special series. And she was a member of Seyrun's nobility, so it isn't as if she didn't fit in the setting as she is Amelia's older sister who is referenced a few times in the actual series. She has as much of a point as any of the other cast members. I don't see what the problem is, it isn't like other characters didn't have a sexually provocative tilt.

>Naga is just fanservice for the movies. Period.
She was created by the original author and first appeared in the Light Novels. Please stop posting idiot.

Lina all the way

Stop being suck a slut Lina!

That chimera looks strange

A Slayers thread with anyone other than Lina in the OP? It's a rare and welcome sight.

Naga.

I need to rewatch Slayers at some point. Haven't seen it in years.

More clothed than Naga
Is this better?

What is this expression supposed to convey?

...

>Lina Inverse dressed like Bianca
Stop doing funny things to my penis user.

>What is this expression supposed to convey?
Mmmm, salty water.

Love Agahari's taste on characters and style.

...

...

Were the OVAs supposed to be consistent canonically with the series? It looks like there are a lot of inconsistencies. For example the dragons in the third movie were smaller than the golden dragons, when the series explicitly states that the golden dragons were the smallest variant of dragons. The orihalcon thing that they dig up in the second movie (Which is supposedly only partially made out of orihalcon) is immune to dragon slave unless used indirectly. Whereas the orihalcon golem from Next was 100% orihalcon but could be destroyed directly by dragon slave. Or am I just thinking about it too much.

All the Naga stuff (except the games with Gourry) take place 1-3 years before the TV show. Aside from that, there are inconsistencies with story. Most likely because a different team worked on the movies/OAVs. But as Revolution showed us, even the main TV show has massive inconsistencies.

Why the hell is there such a gap between Naga and the main cast of the show? Even the creator makes light of this.

The multiple Zannafars especially was disconcerting. I wonder if the LNs clarify anything or were altered significantly when they were adapted.

The original author of Slayers has already said that he recognizes the anime version to be a 'separate telling' of his work and he accepts it when it deviates from his original story. Basically, he accepts its not a straight adaptation of his stories. Though I doubt he liked Revolution much.

Yes. I agree that Naga's imouto is objectively better.

I'm going to marry Amelia!

What was the problem with Revolution? My only realy complaint is that it tread over the same ground too much, and Pokota would have been better off not bein introduced. I thought that it was an improvement over Try at least, and the newer JC Staff animation was nice. The diversions especially were better executed than Try. The part where they have to fight the dullahan for example was miles better than the ghost ship.

Yeah that middle head looks really ugly!

I could listen to Naga laugh all day, but Lina is still best

Lacked the 'Slayers charm' (ie: good comedy mixed with solid drama near the end), reviving Rezo for the third time was just stupid, Pokota was not annoying to me but he was for most people, main cast felt like secondary characters to the actual secondary characters, new character design looked bad for Slayers, really low budget animation for most of the season which was easier to overlook in the pre-digital days but not with HD, felt like you could remove most of the series and not miss anything.

Also forgot to add, it just felt like everything they did was pandering to the fanbase by repeating things when the fans just wanted them to go to a new part of the world and have a new adventure.

The detail was especially what bugged me. Much like how grognards on Sup Forums love vinyl, cell animation just has that texture which makes it look more filling. I felt that fighting one of the other three big demons instead of fighting Zannafar(Gee, there is more than one!) and Rezo again would have done a lot more for expanding the setting. Perhaps Beastmaster wouldn't have worked as Zellos would have been in direct opposition to them, but the Dolphin would have been a neat character to touch on.

When Gourry and Lina are revealed to be driving around the mage tank in that episode, that was just comedy gold. You just knew the whole episode up to that point was building to that reveal. It seemed almost western in its comedic timing.

The goofy caper music in that scene was wonderful too. Such great, innocent fun.

>When Gourry and Lina are revealed to be driving around the mage tank in that episode, that was just comedy gold. You just knew the whole episode up to that point was building to that reveal.
I actually was falling asleep because it was so predictable.

>It seemed almost western in its comedic timing.
And why is that a good thing? People like Slayers for its unique comedy. They don't want Slayers: The Office Edition. What does 'western comedy even mean? Not all comedy in the west is the same.

Am I being baited?

I liked the animation because of how quick it was in some scenes. The episode you posted a shot of was a good example. The QUALITY was much too apparent though.

No, you're not being baited. It's a good thing because Slayers doesn't depend on the hallmarks of Japanese comedy that many other anime do, specifically a variation of quick Manzai-type delivery and an over-reliance on puns.

In other words, they're willing to build up a joke over time and wait for the payoff, sort of like a Seinfeld episode that drops pieces of a joke the whole episode but doesn't drop the punchline until the end.

I find willingness to take time to develop the humor as a good thing. I mean the entire second half of Great was basically just one big expanded joke.

I always end up cheering for the rival ojou-samas most of the time

The west didn't invent development of a joke. And Slayers uses tons of different comedy, including what you think is 'Japanese comedy'. That's one of the reasons Slayers is good. One minute you'll have slapstick comedy, the next some 'Japanese' comedy like a play on words and the next, a bait and switch tied to the beginning of the episode.

I also prefer intelligent and delayed comedy. But it is not limited to the west. Your claim about it being 'western' makes no sense.

It just feels like a directionless mess. Rehashing previous plots seems like an attempt to do a soft-reboot to allow new fans to watch without prior requirements and appeal to nostalgia, yet, at the same time they tried to adapt more of the novels to interest the old fans. As proven many times before, trying so many things at once resulted in a lackluster product that ended up pleasing no one.

It clearly has a direction. It just feels like it was written by a 12 year old writing a fanfic. And meshing all her favorite plots from previous shows together.

>12 year old writing a fanfic. And meshing all her favorite plots from previous shows together.
You mean, something completely devoid of direction?

You can have direction and still be terrible. See the Star Wars prequels or Indiana Jones for an example of being so set on one vision that you destroy that vision.
