I HAVE FIGURED OUT THE ENDGAME FOR BERSERK

So as we all know guts is basically miurai's version of goetz von berlechingen, a medieval german mercenary with a prosthetic iron fist.
There is a play by german writer goethe about goetz.

But there is also a poem by goethe about an elf king, who eats a child and about faust, a man who makes a deal with the devil for his own kingdom.

So by checking out all of goethe's work we should be able to find out where berserk is headed story wise.

Fuck you OP, you can't trick me into reading classical.

>an elf king who eats a child
which child would it be on Berserk?

Do it like Werther and kill yourself.

Get lost kraut.

>a man who makes a deal with the devil for his own kingdom.
Skullknight?

He's fucking dead then.

Eh no, Griffith. The kingdom of Skullnight was destroyed by the angels or for what they let you deduce by the sacrifice of Void

wait a second, If what you're saying is accurate, I'm pretty spooked at the fact that it fits this well with berserk. Did miura who's japanese actually SOMEHOW read this ancient and medieval german author and got inspired or something ?

If not, fuck you for spooking me.

He didn't know he existed when he created Guts, it was a coincidence.

Goethe is one of the most well-known writers in the world lad. Germany's Shakespeare.

even their name are the same this is not a coincidence

>this ancient and medieval german author

nigga u never heard of goethe

Too big of a coincidence.
Either miurai is psychic or he's lying about it.

Not only was götz a real person and his hand is still on display, also the illustrations made for the play about him look like berserk.

Their name isn't the same.Miura has read more manga and played more games than books, really. Why would an otaku lie about it? History is a very long fucking time so it's not weird that there's a lot of coincidences.

>Götz
>Guts
yeah they are not the same sorry

>SOMEHOW read this ancient and medieval german author
American education at work lads.

Phonetically their names are nearly the same.
ゲッツ and ガッツ.

ゲッツ・フォン・ベルリヒンゲン

Again, he's an otaku. His main inspirations were manga.
>"Well, it's funny that you mentioned it, but l've heard about this knight who helped a peasant revolution in Germany and the knight's name was Goetz. And he had an iron artificial arm. When I found out about it, I thought it was a strange coincidence. I don't know if he shot arrows from it. It was especially uncanny because I had already started Berserk. I wasn't really thinking of anybody at the time I created Guts."

Gö probably romanizes to Gu in nip.

>yo griffith, you doin fine?

How would götz fare against the recent refugee crisis?

Better version of the image.

But yeah, if I didn't know better I'd say miurai at least had a dozen illustrations for the old götz play in his reference art folder.

The white haired guy is Weislingen, Götz's childhood friend turned rival with ambitions to the throne.
Not making this up by the way.

>he hasn't heard of the ancient medieval period
wew

>How would götz fare against the recent refugee crisis?
Considering the fact that a large part of his military career was fighting off the turks from the borders, I'd say the guy would be effective in smashing mudslimes.

If a german dude in the 16th century could came up with a metal arm, then fuking miura could do to. Without being inpsired by it. Goetz and guts dont sound alike in german neither.

Dumping characters. Any other similarities?

>Goetz and guts dont sound alike in german neither.
Götz sounds almost identically to guts (which is pronounced "GATTS")

>18th century
>medieval
kek

A more obvious influence was evil dead

I'm french and with a science major, so there already was too much great literature material from France, no need to learn about nazi writings. Science part makes it a secondary/non existent teaching in high school too.

Thing is, isn't "Gats" uncommon already as a name, even in a european setting. but it happens to coincide with a metal handed medieval knight ?

The manlet can be Isidro or Serpico.
The black women can be the queen.

Being german i never heard of gats, götz is a name thats more common and you will see it here and there

What does it matter? It's not like fictional characters have normal names to begin with. Most of them have cool\unusual names.

>there are people who don't know Goethe works
kill yourselves

>didn't cut off the ends of the green beans
>no baked potatoes

Weak meal to be desu

Götz sounds almost identically to guts (which is pronounced "GATTS")

>read the manga for ages
>always thought his name was Gatts
>come to Sup Forums
>"guise his name is guts"

Sounds weird I'll stick to calling him Gatts

>translators start using Guts
>now Gatts sounds weird to me

Fuck

>But there is also a poem by goethe about an elf king, who eats a child

>Griffith's face

>Takes time to learn the basics of Japanese language.
>Calls it nip on Sup Forums
>It's almost as if everyone here enjoys Japanese animation.

>TRIGGERED

This was so funny. Reminded me of Kigeki.

Sakamoto has good taste in OVAs.

is the elf king going to eat the others little elfs then? or that's a reference to the lost children arc?

He's lying. The hand design is identical.

I don't feel that it is.
Also I don't think the real one had a cannon.

post more Götz!

It objectively is. Fucking look at it, the shape is nearly exactly the same. I mean, if it was a realistic hand you could chalk it up to coincidence, but they're both odd in exactly the same shape.

found casca

Probably the Moonlight Child that keeps appearing.

Not really.

The real one is more rounded in shape, slimmer, and seemingly slightly more advanced.

While Guts' one is more squared, less articulated and drops down to reveal a huge gunbarrel.

band of the hawks all over the place, I can see it.

unlimited goethe works

They just look like hands, retard

The elf king in the poem eats a little boy, who succumbs to sickness because the elf king steals his soul.

If your knuckles are on a perfectly straight line your hand is fucking weird.

>Hasn't read the complete works of all Renaissance era thinkers
Stay a pleb.

Berserk actually borrows a lot of themes from Guin Saga but i doubt anyone here has read through all the light novel volumes. Guin Saga influenced him to write Berserk so there much be something in there hinted to whats going to happen.

>elf king, who eats a child
>in the tale it's a boy
So, Puck or Islindre?

now that you mention it I still have to see that anime. It's a good adaptation or better if I read the novel first?

...

I like this dude.
His resting face is "kill me now"

Here's the thing. It MAY be possible that miura never heard of Götz when he STARTED berserk, but he's been writing this fucking thing for how long? He knows about him and Goethe now. He may be using the fact that he hadn't heard of him in the beginning to distract people from the fact that he is using it as an influence NOW. it could be simple misdirection.

>implying japanese people don't learn the rundown of european history from the 1500 onwards down to the individual mercenaries histories in their schools

why they would tho? no one ever teached me at school of the asian or american history from 1500 onward, nor to mention others cultures outside europe

Because they're japs, that's what they do.

Someone actually bit that?
That is the most delicious (You) I've ever gotten.

...

Who's riding so late where winds blow wild
It is the father grasping his child;
He holds the boy embraced in his arm,
He clasps him snugly, he keeps him warm.

"My son, why cover your face in such fear?"
"You see the elf-king, father?
He's near! The king of the elves with crown and train!"
"My son, the mist is on the plain."

'Sweet lad, o come and join me, do!
Such pretty games I will play with you;
On the shore gay flowers their color unfold,
My mother has many garments of gold.'

"My father, my father, and can you not hear
The promise the elf-king breathes in my ear?"
"Be calm, stay calm, my child, lie low:
In withered leaves the night-winds blow."

'Will you, sweet lad, come along with me?
My daughters shall care for you tenderly;
In the night my daughters their revelry keep,
They'll rock you and dance you and sing you to sleep.'

"My father, my father, o can you not trace
The elf-king's daughters in that gloomy place?"
"My son, my son, I see it clear
How grey the ancient willows appear."

'I love you, your comeliness charms me, my boy!
And if you're not willing, my force I'll employ.'
"Now father, now father, he's seizing my arm.
Elf-king has done me a cruel harm."

The father shudders, his ride is wild,
In his arms he's holding the groaning child,
Reaches the court with toil and dread. -
The child he held in his arms was dead.

Didn't the author for Guin Saga die?

ッツ

I just see to smile faces

I'm the same as you, you're a goddamn uncultured swine for not knowing about Goethe.
Kill yourself.

smug faces

>So as we all know guts is basically miurai's version of goetz von berlechingen

miura himself said it was just a coincidence.
OP's a faggot.

Miura you lazy faggot stop posting and go draw Berserk

>time and again Miura says it was a coincidence, just like with Evil Dead
If anything the Guts-Griffith dynamic was taken from Devilman, not Goethe. Not saying they are nothing alike, but where he got it from is quite different. He might've read the books later after enough people bothered him about it.

Moonlight Child

what does (you) even mean?

what a shitty education system you have

so you're going to tell me that in your school they have teach you in detail about every culture of the world? haha no

no, not the entire world. just the european colonies or things we were at war with.

Yeah. She wrote 130 volumes before she died though.

>not knowing goethe
>not knowing faust
>or Die Leiden des jungen Werthers

French really is a miserable country

the mystery of this being some freak coincidence or some elaborate tribute (or a combination of both since he could of decided to just go along with the coincidences) is something only miura knows, but its really neat either way

>this guy has a prosthetic hand too so berserk was inspired by that
kys op

ok

fine

have you read the thread, faggot?
