Its hyped because it adapts manga by OPM author. Fans expected it to be "OPM killer" or "OPM 2.0" so frustrated atm its not popular despite getting high budget Bones threatment.
Since its same author and type of humor as OPM it probably will get ok later, but so far the premise, humor and characters are disappointing.

Cheer Danshi is the worst sports anime I've watched in ages (not that I watch many sports anime). The "sport" is stupid, there is 0 of that silly faces comedy I expected, there is 0 ironic gay, and 0 unironic gay. Sugita is the only good thing about it.
I watch and enjoy the anime, so why not? If you are anime only fag that feels its rushed or inconsistent - too bad for you. I basically watch it as episodic cooking battle of the week, and enjoy it a lot - JC Staff doesnt drop the ball on quality, and watching the chapters getting animated is rewarding.
Cheer Danshi and DAYS are actually decent, from production values and characters - but dropped both, since i cant remember any sports anime that i actually finished. They become really boring, really fast.
