Why was the adaptation done so badly?
Anti-Magic Academy
Shit director, all budget already went to Rakudai.
At least the soundtrack, OP and ED were good.
Full volume 12 translation fucking when.
Never :^)
Because its source material wasn't popular.
And so the publishers didn't see the need to give it much budget in the first place.
It seem like volume 12 is being translated by someone else. From what I've read, prologue + 2 chapters have been translated.
Which is weird, because the girls are legitimately better. In looks and personality. Even the MC is better.
It wasnt
Stop this shitty meme right now, it was another generic harem LN
How can you expect a good adaptation when the souce material is fucking shit
>magic academy haremshit
You can't polish a turd
Isn't it fully translated?
It is?
Keep crying. The source material is gr8 m8. Good characters, fun action, nice lore, and simple development. That already puts it above the 99% of infested shitfests.
This says it is:
mangaupdates.com
Too lazy to check krytyk's site though.
krytykal.org
Holy shit it's real.
Whoa
Shit
Thank you user, words can't describe how happy I am right now.
Not to mention MGR soundtrack goes well with it.
Happy reading user. I've still got the last 3 volumes of Rokujouma, last vol of OSO and Grimgar before I start marathoning AntiMagic from the beginning.
a.pomf.cat
Make sure you've a MGR soundtrack prepared. Do you have the list of soundtracks that fit certain fights?
I want to watch it but no BD subs
There definitely are.
I love Mari!
I was just about to make the thread, there was a double release for chapters 4 and 5 for Volume 12.
The fact that the tournament was ruined right off the bat as well as its setting being ever slightly so different put it above the rest.
Not to mention, decent male side characters.
When you take all the small details out of a slightly intricate setting and rush the shit out of stuff, it turns out bad. Every fight was given the shtity CG treatment too.
Everything else went right though, the VA choice was unexpectedly amazing.
Not to mention as soon as the author was given the get go he ditched them straight out of that shitty school setting.
Don't forget to read the remainder of volume 12 with the OST playing in the background.
Is there a consensus for the theme for this volume? Which fights are thete?
There*
Haunted vs Onii-sama
The latter kills Haunted at least a few thousand times in a span of 5 minutes.
Then there's everyone's struggle with Kiseki
Not enough Ouka
That too, there's actual plot that keeps the series going at a brisk pace without needing to introduce a new girl every volume for the MC to win over.
Mari a shit!
Ouka please
The theme was understanding. Like most of the fights were pretty much just trying to persuade Kiseki. Not sure what song would work.
Someone's gotta rip that bandaid off. The sooner you learn your waifu is shit, the better.
Lapis is literally the best Anti-Magic girl, why do others even try to dispute this.
2nd best*
Pic related.
Vlad ;_;
She's okay.
A bit plain compared to everyone else.
>smokin' hot
>good cook
>has high class genes
>already thinking about having babies
>kicks ass even without any magical powers
Usagi is objectively the best girl in Antimagic.
Last volume is out apparently krytykal.org
You can't get anywhere close to high-class genes when you've got gene-manipulating girls like Ikaruga around.
I swear to god, if they don't have some kickass color spread for this one.
And that Another Mission 2 better have some Kyouya-Yoshimizu-Nero shenanigens
She really is wife material.
We've come a long way
So did the illustrator.
So who wins the MC bowl?
We certainly have.
It'll be a damn miracle if he even makes it out of this alive.
But if anything, Lapis is most likely to die.
She's one of my personal favorites.
>another kyouya illustration never
At least we've got a lot of Kurogane and Haunted
Honestly though, Kyouya barely exists in the illustrations for as many times he shows up.
For your ardent love for antimagic and the best girls, I shall bestow a spoiler upon you all.
Kyouya becomes a baker.
Kyouya goes Clannad
I hope Kyouya gets to fight Haunted too. Doesn't seem right that Kurogane gets to kill him, considering how much of a pain he's been.
OTP.
I see a time skip wndingw confirmed.
>Lapis is most likely to die.
user, ore wa...
;___;
Lapis doesn't die, none of the girls dies and in fact, one comes back to life. Still... nghh. *sighs*
That's about as much as I can spoil. If you don't want spoilers, don't enter.
>Comes back
Isuka?
This is great, haha.
Maybe Nagaru.
More illustrations
I agree.
I actually don't mind if they get together. Takeru can get with Usagi and Ikagura.
Everything else is spoiler-heavy, I'm not gonna do you such a disservice.
And on that note, I'm off for today.
Nothing else with Kyouya?
I Thought Krytykal dropped AM for good, wonder what made him pick it up again.
He never dropped it in earnest, just as a precaution in case jewpress lapped it up. They didn't bother so now he can continue openly again.
Holy shit, I knew krytyk did those chapters shared through ghostbin (it was in his style and the fucking image files inside pointed to his site if you dug around a bit) but I didn't think he'd pick it up openly again, absolutely based. Really glad I didn't miss this thread.
The Only Thing I Know For Real = Takeru in God Hunter form
A Stranger I Remain = Laugh Maker
Red Sun = Haunted
The Hot Wind Blowing = Onii-sama
It Has to be This Way = Takeru and Kyouya especially Vol 9
I'm My Own Master Now = Takeru fights Onii-sama for the Truth
The Stains of Time = Orochi
Collective Consciousness = Sougetsu
A Soul Can’t Be Cut = Kiseki
Rules of Nature = Mech Dragons
Dark Skies = Orochi and Mother Goose
Locked & Loaded = Kyouya
Barely noticed that she kinda resembles Sharo. Pretty cute.
>Kyouya is rejected-Takeru
Heh
Whoever came up with this list is a fucking great guy, my enjoyment of the series was really boosted from this honestly.
Glad to see Krytyk pick up the translations again, and I'll gladly recant all my previous statements in other threads where I referred to him as a bitch.
In hindsight it was pretty immature to complain about someone who was doing it for free and out of their own free time stopping. It was just pretty depressing to see a series so close to its conclusion get the translation suddenly dropped. So I really appreciate him picking it up again.
Hope came back to us
Was that hope you said? Good, feel hope. Feel happiness. Praise whatever gods you pray to. Because that will make the fall to despair all so sweeter.
The face is so fucking perfect
The illustrator also happens to be fond of bunnies in general. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Usagi's design was directly taken from Sharo's.
Are spoilers on baidu?
Krytyk will deliver
12 episode industry killed anime.
I preferred if we had less shows each season but were longer. Not that before anime was better, but with longer series at least it had the redeeming point that you grew attached to the characters so at the end even if the show and characters were shit, you still would enjoy it anyway, cause you got attached to them.
Trigun for example was shit but eh, after 24 episodes you loved Vash
With 12 episode series that doesn't happen so we just have forgettable shows.
If only Aniplex had picked this instead of Asterisk.
>kiseki user hasn't posted
Doesn't feel right without him.
Just wait a day.
We must keep the thread alive until his arrival.
He's a heretic
I wouldn't go so far as to say it has ruined the modern industry, but he has certainly harmed a great deal of series. I recall examples like Angel Beats where they wrote it thinking they were getting a 26 episode series, and then told nearly at the last minute they were only getting 13 (which was steadily becoming the standard at the time).
In terms of resources it makes sense, they can put more quality into each episode and with some series this can really work out for the better. However a lot of them just leads to shows that feel half-baked, characters or plot-lines feel underdeveloped, and there tends to be a lot of pacing issues that come along with it too. Series tend to start off slow, and suddenly kick it to high gear, potentially giving a feeling of whiplash to the audience.
So it's certainly one of the reasons why this series' adaptation was a failure. Though it also had a lot to do with Silver Link trying to do multiple shows that season, assigning a rookie director to the show, and basically treating the show as a failure from the start (which is a shame because the score, the cast, and the designs were great).
>Aniplex
God no, because then A-1 would be animating this and manage to be even worse of an adaptation. Really, I'd prefer if Silver Link topped playing with their dicks and put this as their #1 instead of Rakudai.
What did she mean by this?
Author reveals in the afterword that he didn't do incest end only because he doesn't understand wincest.
What a faggot.
It was one sided obsession anyway on Kiseki's end
The guy himself said, regarding romance, "it's one thing that I'm not too good at it, but it also doesn't fit the story"
It doesn't really fit the story. Especially if it wasn't that well written. Good move by the author.
>Why was the adaptation done so badly?
People always defend LN adaptations with "well the anime butchered it, the novel is better" but that seems like a load of crap.
If you like a light novel anime adaptation then most likely you will like the source material too, but is there anyone here who has watched an anime and hated/disliked it, but then went on to read the novel and actually found it enjoyable?
I want to see some examples.
On a side note, I actually enjoyed the anime for NGNL more than the novels which I ended up dropping because the writing/translation was just awful.
Good guy author. Knows romance isn't that much of a focus and doesn't try to force it anyways.
Well also because Kiseki was becoming too much of his own sister. He got too into it, to the point he felt disturbed by the idea of incest.
>there anyone here who has watched an anime and hated/disliked it, but then went on to read the novel and actually found it enjoyable?
Me. I disliked Index's adaptation but loved the LN's. Same goes for DxD's third season. I can also say I didn't like DAL s2 but when I read the volumes that the anime covered I liked them. LN adaptations are usually shit because they're just a cheap ad for the source.
>If you like a light novel anime adaptation then most likely you will like the source material too, but is there anyone here who has watched an anime and hated/disliked it, but then went on to read the novel and actually found it enjoyable?
There was this series, for one.
Aside from this?
Uh, Black Bullet I suppose.
Danganronpa, though that wasn't a LN.
Railgun, though that wasn't an LN either.
With this series though people can point to specific aspects of the novels that were enjoyable to read which were badly adapted for the anime.
>is there anyone here who has watched an anime and hated/disliked it, but then went on to read the novel and actually found it enjoyable?
Yes. I'm one of the people that watched the first few episodes of Taimadou, found it shitty, but liked the lore, so I checked out the LN and found it great. That's literally what a lot of people are complaining about when talking about the anime adaptation. The LN is actually great, but Silver Link really dropped the fucking ball.
>LN adaptations are usually shit because they're just a cheap ad for the source.
That's a fair point, but when you think about it: they pitch you the actual selling points of the series. Everything the novels add on top of that is just icing and sprinkles.
Also I'm curious:
Did you pick up the novels after watching the anime or before?
Persona 4 although that was a game and not a LN.
Fate/stay night although that was a VN and not a LN.
LNs just generally suck but Antimagic Academy was at least fun to watch and had well described chuuni battles and SUFFERING backstory which was very poorly conveyed into animation.
For example in the second episode a fat King Arthur shoots a purple beam at Takeru which gets absorbed and used to cut fat King Arthur down.
Had they actually adapted what happened in the novel, fat King Arthur purges his armor to become superspeed King Arthur and has a bullet time superspeed duel with Takeru, then shoots the Knights of the Round Table at him who get cut down one by one in bullet time.
The anime usually sells me on the premise, and that's what gets me to read them.
It depends on what. For DxD I picked up after the second season. Index I did it after watching both seasons. DAL also after the second season.
>they pitch you the actual selling points of the series
too bad Antimagic couldn't even do that properly.
How bad were the BD sales again?
Anyone here have the soundtrack to download?
It makes me wonder what the short stories will be about in Another Mission 2.
He doesn't have a little sister.
Pretty much what said. Also, aside from this would be Black Bullet. There's probably another one or two, but I just can't remember atm.
Below 1000 IIRC.
>What is google?
