I don't judge shit by on an episodic basis. I consume things as a whole and judge it that way, when I can.
If you really wanna take it that far though, Episodes 5,6,9 and 2/3rds of the movie were really enjoyable. Everything else was Average or serviceable. Episodes 3,4, and 12, were bad, and the last 1/3rd of the movie was bad.

I'd say that's a decent ration for a whatchable, enjoyable show.

One of the best things KyoAni has created because of AS.
Why the fuck do people treat AS like it's an entirely different series. Clannad is Clannad. AS is not separate. The story as a whole is fantastic. And even if AS wasn't included, the first half stands on it's own as an "average" watchable show, as compared to the rest of KyoAni's works.
At the very worst, it's just be another decent Slice of Life show, only not very notable.

k-on is unironically the greatest anime ever made. You can't find any flaws in it.
