Japan creates the most animation out of any country...

Japan creates the most animation out of any country. They're perceived to have some of the most creative minds in their field. Millions of yen gets poured into funding animators, voice actors, writers.

If this is the case, why is so much of it garbage? I know good shows shine through the cracks and can be enjoyable. But so much of it seems to pandering self insert trash. If you don't believe me look at your catalog. Right now most threads are obsessing over girls. Waifu circlejerks, ass threads, etc. Any discussion has seemingly been completely exhausted. They exist but are more often completely overshadowed and are pushed to 404 by threads that read like "post best girls of their respective shows" and "this is your girlfriend tonight!". The only threads that have some level of discussion have either a very vocal fanbase or a cute girl character to obsess over on the side

There's nothing wrong with liking it but there's no counterbalance. Where are the shows that rival Pixar? The shows that take a more mature approach to animated storytelling without being seen as edgy?

Why aren't there more unique shows? I know there's a culture barrier but it seems that there's a pattern when it comes to creating these shows. Almost to a production line like quality that churns out what they know what will sell to otakus. Look at the picture. Notice any patterns? I do.

Get taste.

>Why aren't there more unique shows?
Its all been done

Yeah you completely get it OP. You've seen through the entire anime industry. You so smart.

>India creates the most animation out of any country.
>If this is the case, why is so much of it garbage?
OP, are you stupid?

summer sure brings degenerates

>They're perceived to have some of the most creative minds

kek

Wouldn't the NEETS who post here year round be the degenerates?

tl;dr sex sells, and I don't like it

>I don't like it, so it's bad!

Anime is really cheap. One episode of anime is ranges from 1-2 million dollars, that's peanuts compared to Netflix live-actions or regular TV series in America.

The industry has a slowly shrinking, vocal and demanding customer base. Thus it makes sense for the industry to cater to the needs of that customer base, which mostly is what you said about waifus and such.

If you're looking for a 'muh mature' show, there's always some every season. We had Joker Game (a spy drama about how Japan's muh honor attitude during WW2 era backfiring) last season, and 91 Days (crime drama set during US Prohibition era) this season. But of course you don't know that because your newfaggotry.

Oh, and Pixar only puts out garbage nowadays.

>They're perceived to have some of the most creative minds in their field

Op are you going to go all death of a culture on us

No they are here for enjoyment. You are here for elitism.

>Anime is really cheap. One episode of anime is ranges from 1-2 million
>The industry has a slowly shrinking, vocal and demanding customer base.
None of these statements are true.

90 percent of everything is shit

But I'm a NEET and degeneracy is enjoyable

No user, you are doing it wrong.
As long as you tell yourself that endless discussions about best girl and harem shows are bad, you aren't going to have much fun.
I was like that too when I started but I found out it's much more enjoyable to accept it and take part of it too.
You should start watching harem shows and other shows that focus on the girls on regular basis. Then try to find which girl you like the most. It won't take long before you're even able to enjoy even bad shows.

>Where are the shows that rival Pixar?
Hmm, I wonder how much budget an average Pixar movie gets. $100 million? How about a full season of anime? $2 million? Even Nickelodeon has higher budget for their stupid shit.
I'm sure if you gave kyoani $100 million budget they would throw out something good, but they're never going to get that money back. Kyoani is for otaku nerds, scum of humanity. No thousands of moms are going to line up at the cinema to see the latest masterpiece from the creators of K-On.
There are high budget shows, though, and there are good shows. Go back to r/anime I'm sure they can help you find some.

Hint: I agree that every single one of the currently airing shows (and for the past few seasons) (except illya :^)) are complete shit. Go look for good stuff somewhere else.

Why are there so many shitty movies every year? Why is most of it garbage? chick flicks, superhero movies, the usual horror film. They're all the same every year! Why can't we get something unique?

That's basically what you're saying OP. Most of it is shit because that's how it is with every medium. They will always crater to the lowest common denominator to get money.

Actually K-ON was very popular outside of its target demographic (i.e. otaku nerds, scum of humanity etc). There's a reason the show made it into Disney Channel.

Also Kyoani IS aiming (or at least trying to) outside that otaku demographic, why did you think they decide to adapt Koe no Katachi which has an award-bait plot?

We get a lot of unique films every year. Most of them are low budget indie or foreign films. Sadly, the entire anime industry is like Hollywood.

>implying you know shit

There are plenty of short animation films by studios and animators shown every year, and dedicated cons for it. you just don't know about it because most people that watch anime don't care. Just like you. So don't complain about shit you don't even know about.

>you just don't know about it because most people that watch anime don't care. Just like you. So don't complain about shit you don't even know about

>Millions of yen gets poured into funding animators, voice actors, writers
>he thinks millions of yen is a lot
Keep newfagging.

Are you satisfied now?

If weren't a newfag crossboard bating you know by my new IP that I'm not the guy you've been talking to.

>a newfag crossboarding
>assuming everyone looks at the IP counter at all times

Oh wow, this thread is out of control. Here's your smug anime girl reaction.

>There's a reason the show made it into Disney Channel
nigga what

4chanX marks every new IP, you shitter

>millions of yen.
So like, $20,000?

>He doesn't know that K-ON aired at Japan's Disney Channel
>He doesn't know the series is very popular with girls for its music and depiction of HS life.

It's almost like the same could be said of every fucking medium. Why aren't you bitching about the insane American TV industry, which puts out thousands of hours of programming a week, and yet only one show every couple of years is worth watching? Or Hollywood, which literally hasn't released a movie that's even average in around a decade.

If you want more risky, unique content, read manga, you stupid cunt. It costs almost nothing to produce, and can be a lot more daring because of it.

>They're perceived to have some of the most creative minds in their field
You would think this is true but we're still getting accidental boob gropings in 2016.

>Or Hollywood, which literally hasn't released a movie that's even average in around a decade.
Just stop. There are good Hollywood movies every year.

No, there aren't. It's all so cookie cutter, formulaic, and PG-13 that you'd have to be a legitimate moron to find it entertaining on any level.

Watch more films.

/ thread

The problem isn't that there's too much waifu-bait. Even the more mature shows are pretty bad.

The problem is that anime is cheap as fuck to produce now and it can get pumped out like no other. The universe most of these shows exist in are hardly ever fleshed out and the characters are all clearly carbon copies of common archetypes. In the industry, it pays to be lazy right now. Just make it look good and retards will eat it up because it's easy to consume.

I watch plenty of films. Nothing good is coming out of Hollywood.

Just because they make entertaining movies doesnt mean that those movies are good. Hollywood pumps out shit to make money and it works thanks to their ridiculous budget and safe betting.

You don't.

Hollywood is more than just blockbusters.

Sturgeon's Law

So the shit I excrete everyday is also only 90% shit?

Yeah, you lose about 10% of the digestible nutrients in your food to poop.

Watch more anime

>Where are the shows that rival Pixar?
Pixar only make shitty movies meant for children, though.

I don't fucking know, but it seems like there's only 1 or 2 good anime per season this year.

The last anime I watched for example, is Mayoiga. Like how do fuck do they pass something like this? It's pure garbage and I think any user with a little sense could probably write a better story.

Maybe if you weren't so dumb, you wouldn't wind up disappointed? The SYNOPSIS alone was enough for anyone with taste to ignore Mayoiga, that's without even looking at the cast, studio, or director.

Most of the talent in anime is in film making.

>There are good Hollywood movies every year.
Name 'em

more money doesnt make people more creative

>2016
>4chanx
Fuck off

Anime is a business. The people working on most anime aren't creative geniuses. You are retarded.

>Where are the shows that rival Pixar?
How could you bemoan the lack of creativity in anime and then prop up Pixar in the same post? That's a studio that focuses entirely on safe, garden-variety watchability. You could say a lot about them, but creative? Not remotely.

This.

It's either one out of these two reasons:

1. You haven't explored anime enough to find the hidden gems or ventured genres or you're getting a knee-jerk reaction to certain tropes and art styles that prevent you from discovering that some harem/SoL/etc is actually worth watching.
2. Anime simply isn't made for you. Stop whining and go watch something else.
