What's the fascination with 'slice of life' anime?

What's the fascination with 'slice of life' anime?

I want to try one but I don't know where to start, I tried watching Yuri Yuri but I couldn't pull myself through the first episode.

lurk more and watch more anime
ask for recommendations on

On it

look at the catalog on /wsr/ before making a thread

If you can't enjoy it then don't force yourself.
Don't be a retard on purpose just to fit in with some Sup Forumsutists

> I couldn't pull myself through
You're a brain dead piece of shit that doesn't even like anime, you are literally trying to force yourself to enjoy something you don't like.

You don't even know what you're talking about and your thread made me physically sick, I hope you get hit by a truck and die.

Edgy

Murder yourself, you autistic manbaby. You don't like anime, reconsider your life and then end it.

>implying anime girls aren't real

Kemono Souja got me into it, try normal SoL like Mushishi or Natsume-san before attempting CGDCT.

Well you see, some of us have no friends of lives in general. We have to live vicariously through others, fictional or real.

Yeah, but Erin is actually going somewhere. There is in fact a story there. We just follow a girl from childhood to adult age as part of it.

Slice of life just means that the amusement from the show is more based on the characters daily crap than it is any outrageous implausible jokes or overarching melodramatic plot

It is not limited exclusively to boring "comedies" about cute girls that only perverts like

The episodes of Patlabor that are not about fighting giant monsters or particularly intense labor battles are very slice of life-y, for instance

Yuru Yuri is not a good place to start. YY is the extreme end.
Non non Biyori would be a better place to start since it's a golden throne of comfy SoL

Who semon demen dis is?

>you are literally trying to force yourself to enjoy something you don't like.
As any decent person should. Why would anyone actively try to not let their taste expand? Why would you ever want to not enjoy something?

Go pay a group of tranny hookers to fuck you, see how your tastes expand along with your asshole.

>Hey I'm Grump
Almost vomited

gj-bu
love lab
nozaki-kun

Maybe, just maybe, SoL isn't for you? Why force yourself to do something you don't like?

That's because Yuru Yuri is shit. Watch a good SoL like Non Non Biyori or K-On!

I don't think recommendations are what OP's looking for. You can throw recommendations at him but if he can't even get through the first episode there's no point.

What OP needs is an understanding of what slice of life anime are for, then he will be more likely to see for himself whether slice of life is for him.

>not liking a single genre of anime is equivalent to not liking anime at all
0/10 bait

The fact that you don't even understand what I'm talking about is proof you need to get off my board and/or my planet.

So you're backtracking now. Okay.

Try Honey and clover. If you don't like that, god help you. Go watch some shonen or something.

That's fine, you shouldn't force yourself to watch something that you don't like. If you don't like the genre, don't watch it.

If it's not your thing don't force yourself to watch it jesus christ. I don't force myself to like shonenshit why should you force yourself to like SoL?

Yuru yuri is just CGDCT, a sub-type of 'slice of life' manga. Trust me on this one user.

*manga/anime

you would understand everything if you read yotsuba

i read it when i was about 14 years old, 12 years ago.

i understood everything. so basically, my 14 year old faggot self was more knowledgeable than you, OP.

>That's fine, you shouldn't force yourself to watch something that you don't like. If you don't like the genre, don't watch it.
What that sensible user wrote is true.

this. and also stop now before you hate yourself doing it.

Don't try to understand it, OP.

Most SoL is directed towards lonely neets who need to fill the gap left by their complete lack of social existence.

Humans simply can't live their entire lives without social activity. At the very least, they need to pretend they are interacting with people for a few minutes every day to remain mentally sound. SoL enables this, acts as a masturbatory tool. It's not a coincidence that SoL also has some of the post obsessive waifu posters.

The sad irony is that many of the posters on this board take some degree of pride that they are socially estranged, but will still manage to take offense to what I'm saying. The longer you stay here, the more truth you'll see in this post.

Your post was too long for my neet brain to process but Konata a cute

you are wrong and i won't tell you why

>all this "don't force yourself to enjoy something you don't"
but how do you know OP doesn't enjoy 'slice of life' anime? So far, we can only know he doesn't like YRYR

It depends on why you didn't like yuruyuri.

To put it extremely generally, there are two ways 'slice of life' anime are made; one is to squeeze as many jokes as a mild story can handle into one episode, the other is the same but with pretty things.

If what you find disturbing is the lack of a sound or meaningful plot, then that's basically the end of it; people have different tastes from yours and they happen to be more vocal about it. This is the point where you stop forcing yourself from enjoying what you don't.

If you simply find the YRYR theme uninteresting or the jokes boring, then it's time to go to and hope for the best.

>dead thread
Why does this keep happening to me?
