I got fired from my job and was out of work for two months before I got another; this is my first ever period on unemployment since I was 15 years old.
During that time my rent and council tax was paid (86 quid a week and 110 quid per calendar month respectively). I also got 226 quid a fortnight jsa. These ones were out of work benefits. I also got and still get now 377 quid every 4 weeks child tax credits for having 2 children and 120 child benefit. Basically I could live pretty comfy on benefits as I'm a council tenant with kids but I choose not to because I'm not a spongeing nigger and want to set a good example for my children.

You can get up to $200 in foodstamps for a few months but they make you get SOME form of job or at least go to job training or they will cancel them, it didn't used to be like this until 2 years ago. The only way to get any benefits is to have a physical/mental disability and I think it's equivalent to minimum wage.

I use to work for a company who got WFDP (work for the dole participants) -- I've heard harsher stories where I had a girl urinate herself when a loud bang from a car backfired and was constantly molested... 27 year old, still had to participate for WFDP
Under 40 unless you are physically disabled (and I'm talking like potato disabled) - Centrelink will make you jump through hoops, and only give 3 month or 6 month medical certificates off WFD participation.
