In what order should I watch Ghost in the Shell: Arise? I just finished Stand Alone Complex and I hear Arise is complete shit so that's something to look forward to.
It has all these things and I dunno where each of them fall. I see:

Channel 5.5 Second Season
Alternative Architecture
I don't even know where to start with this shit.
Alternative Architecture is the OVA edited into a TV series with some new footage plus two original episodes. The other things are just bonus shorts. So just go with AA if you want.
Oh, and there's also a movie that's set after Arise.
Yeah, after Arise I plan to watch the 2015 movie and also the remake of the first movie to finish off the series.
So it's just a redo of the Border movies in eight episodes and then has two extra ones?
I really hope you don't watch Arise, it is total crap. Just watch Mamoru movie over and over, it is a way better option.

I think Arise is alright, not as great as SAC could be but still pretty entertaining.
Arise AND the new movie, so "originally" titled "The New Movie" are complete shit. Watch the first Ghost in the Shell, maybe GITS Innocense, and certain episodes of SAC are okay..but that's about it. The rest of the franchise is complete and utter shit.
I watched both the original movies and both seasons plus the movie of Stand Alone Complex and I really liked them all (Innocence was just alright but the others were amazing). I doubt I'll like Arise as much and Mokoto looks disgusting in it but I want to watch the whole series anyways.

Obviously budgets have fallen since 2006, so it isnt surprising that the movies arent super complex or well animated, but considering the general lack of anime in this genre, GITS doesnt need to compete

As someone who watched Arise when he was totally blitzed on drugs, I will tell you, WATCH IT. The Majors character design at the beginning was a huge problem for me but it is nowhere near the amount of shit it gets from Sup Forums. Arise will never be the original GITS and that's what so many faggots here are so tight in their pantsu about. Arise has amazing themes that question what its like to be human. Arise is actually a good short series(I don't say anything is good often); I liked the characters, the animation, and the plot in general. The general populace of plebs on Sup Forums will tell you its not worth watching. They, are, wrong. Come at me.

I wound up watching the first movie, it's actually pretty damn good. Not on the level of the original movie or even Stand Alone Complex, but it's nowhere near as bad as it's made out to be.

Shitter detected. SAC season one is very solid as is the first and only first manga. Just because your first exposure was Oshii's interpretation doesn't mean it all has to follow that to be good

I didn't care much for arise but the final movie cant remember what its called, the one that came out in 2015 was pretty decent, still doesn't stand up to SAC imho.
SAC is one of my favorite shows and I feel it does a solid job at exploring the world and characters a lot deeper than the movies do.
Just finished Border 3. Still pretty good, I'm having trouble finding a stream for Border 4 though so I might have to torrent that.
Finally found and finished Border 4. Altogether not a bad couple of movies, not as good as SAC or the original but solid in their own right. Thanks Anons.
