Monogatari was godly at beginning. Then it went to shit. Kizu isn't anything special (fanservice is very good) because it has many cliche ( yes, I read the book).

Dammit, this shit got stupid really fast. Before it was dark but well plotted and interesting. Now it feels juvenile and forced. I was cringing so much through episode 15 to 17. The drama feels so fake.

Everything will feel fake if you don't like how it's happening. Problem is everything that is being shown right now had it's root already shown since episode 1. Which people seemed to not notice.

I'm actually a bit surprised. I thought Sup Forums would be good in getting context. Seems like it's just the same as any other place afterall and nothing special.

I agree, 17 was excessive but that seems to be the point of every episode since this arc began. To force the MC to change instead of letting him wing it like he did in the first two arcs.

But he wasn't so awful in the previous arcs. He was moderately smart, learned from his mistakes and such. Now all he does is fuck up and be a fucking creep. He had no reason to be such an idiot at the royal ceremony, he wasn't that dense. And when he finds Emilia in the last episode, he doesn't tell her the cult is coming. It breaks the suspension of disbelief so hard because it doesn't look like a character flaw that he has to overcome, but the writer trying to be dramatic and falling into being edgy and nonsensical.

No, if you've been paying attention, that's completely in character for him. Do you honestly think he's a character that shows off his complete personality right away? No, he had a mask on in the first two arcs and now it's breaking.

Rewatch episode 1A and B again. See how Subaru acts there and compare it to episode 12-13.

If you can't even see how he's actually just the same since the beginning that means you weren't watching at all.

If there's one thing going for this show, it's that since the beginning, the root of the problem was already there. People just seems to forget it because most shows in this, let's say decade, don't actively call out what was shown in the beginning. This is one of the exceptions.

Subaru all through out has been treating this world still as a game. Even with all the deaths, even with all the truths thrown at his face, deep down he believes if he wings it, it will be fine. Since this is another world where he thought he was going to be able to start fresh again and be let's say "a hero". His obsession has been rampant since the beginning which people failed to see as well. Remember when people where claiming how annoying he was in the early episodes? That was called out as well in recent episodes on how fake he was really. Actually every episode since 13 was a call out to his behavior all through out the show. Most didn't notice because violence was more important.

It was always there. People just became blind because most shows don't do it like this series.

Yeah it's not perfect for sure but it is good. But I wouldn't say it is shitty just because you didn't notice it even if the show was already throwing all the hints at your face.

I'm not sure about that. It was clear from the beginning he was thinking of himself as a LN hero, but after the first couple of deaths he seemed to become serious, usually masking his fear so no one suspects. And of course, after Rem killed him in the forest, he even took everything serious again. It seemed like character development if any.

But after the arc with the dogs ended, Subaru started acting really off. Of course he lashed out at Emilia, it was expected, and of course he took the fight with that knight, but what happened before was nonesense. Even if he is selfish as fuck he acted without any brains, which is something the character didn't do since the very first episode where he still didn't grasp his situation.

How is he still acts like a little bitch even with useful ability like this?

Also "From Zero" - does that mean that ability will judge MC it chosen so fucking useless that he would have to be transferred back at the beginning to sort out current mess?

The real reason he isn't learning from his mistakes here is because he doesn't want to feel he's doing anything wrong, he's saving everyone so he thinks all of his actions were just. This is the problem Subaru never thought about the implications of his actions and just acts immediately which got him into trouble with Emilia and the knights. He spergs out because of his pride and refuses to listen to anyones argument or points of view in episode 14.

But Subaru was always like this, back in the mansion the maids were going to murder him again in episode 8, because he was acting just suspiciously like the previous loops. It's not until he figures out he's been cursed that they begin to trust him.

I do hope this is true. The anime just makes it really weird. It's like the elements are there (his jelaously when that knight guy kisses Emilia's hand) and so on, but I don't know, he didn't seem to act as selfish as he is now up until this arc. It's not like the elements of the story aren't there, but they aren't well told. It's character exaggeration.

He wasn't. This is where people seem to really forget. He was "high" on how much he felt that he was a hero that he thought it was ok to act like everyone owned him something.

This has been what he wanted since episode 1 and he felt he got it right then and there. Why? Because he got a date with Emilia.

That scene was the same but yes before you could tell he was just trying to be funny but later he literally believes it.
You could chalk it up to him feeling like he was hot shit for pulling off arc 2 but they were also adapting 1 LN in two episodes instead of their previous 1 LN in four episodes.

I assume he was the one that told Subaru "You are too late" before AOE subzeroed him. I assume this spell was cast to stop the cultist but Emilia was already dead\mortally wounded so puck frozed dungeon and stayed with her till the end in this loop. Also why did he beheaded MCin next loop? Is he aware of MC ability or he was simply ragegrieved over Emilia death?

We saw his monster silhouette. I'm hoping he will use that same form in the next ep and we will see him fully.

MC will need to loop anyway but I'm not against cool carnage before that.
