I think what makes Takeru such an exceptional pilot, beyond the XM3 and his wavedashing shenanigans, is the fact he wasn't predisposed to the several decades of eishii development.
When you think about it piloting was very systematic, Takeru is strange because he isn't concerned with survival, which I bet most instructed pounded into their students, how to react and what to do given a very narrow scope of situations.

Meiya shouting out as she attacks Target A (which you can see in Asu e no Houkou's video) got cut off probably due to her wearing the trainee suit.

All the 2G and up fighters were designed to use instability for better maneuverability, all Takeru did that was different was to say "fuck you" to the mechanics and constantly redline the machine with no regard to physical stresses on the structure.
