1. They are an effective way to project power in a conventional warfare scenario and the battle group is sufficient protection
2. They are only effective in bullying smaller nations into aligning themselves with US interests, in a real war scenario against a half competent enemy they will be quickly sunk as they are weak to anti-ship missiles
It is an military airfield that you can move anywhere on the ocean. The USA also does midair refueling which gives nearly unlimited range to all of its aircraft.
If you can't see the advantage you're blind.
Brayden Turner
oh and >implying half competent enemy China isn't competent, wargames and computer graphics aren't reality.
Daniel Price
Large mid-air refueling aircraft need land bases to operate from. The only carrier-based plane I know of that can refuel another is the Viking and I don't think it holds enough to refuel more than a couple of planes if that

While the carriers and associated battle groups do have immense firepower if they were to be directly targeted their defenses could be overwhelmed by a swarm of incoming anti-ship missiles. They are comparatively cheap(in reference to the targeted battle group) so launching them in great numbers would be the obvious strategy. The battle group's defenses would surely take some out, but it is very likely that with a large enough swarm some will get through and cause damage. Depending on the situation you may only need one anti ship missile with a small tactical nuke to slip through the defenses.
Jonathan Harris
1 aircraft carrier fleet can take out most nations.
Luis Russell
The Dongfeng-21D.
Christian Nelson
Kuznetsov NOW!
Jackson Rodriguez
3. The carrier projects power more effectively than any other platform but current doctrine may or may not be sufficient to ensure their continued operation in a conventional warfare scenario.
OP is a faggot.
Hudson Morgan
>their defenses could be overwhelmed by a swarm of incoming anti-ship missiles This is why laser CIWS is so important to develop. Lasers + nuke reactor could be a game changer when it comes to defending against anti-ship missiles.
Robert Richardson
The US would nuke any country that tried sinking our carriers.
>implying valid targeting information >implying ECCM >implying you have any understanding of mass anti-ship missiles
Jaxon Scott
Again, Dongfeng-21D.
Phalanx ain’t gonna do shit to a ballistic warhead during its terminal phase.
Adrian Hall
>beliving chinese propaganda
Anthony Garcia
>>implying you have any understanding of mass anti-ship missiles
I admit I'm not an expert, this conclusion just seemed logical to me.
Jayden Murphy
It isn't like a video game where you automatically know where they are with pinpoint accuracy.
Benjamin Harris
what a load of horseshit. i rely heavily on aircraft carriers to take over the world in civilization v. it works every time.
Luke Anderson
>getting all the way to the Modern era without winning yet
Ian Long
Which part don’t *you* believe? 128 mile a second terminal phase, ability to target a carrier, don’t think it exists in the first place?
Or is it all just “America Hell Yeah!” with you?
Jacob Bailey
You're a fucking retard
Andrew Taylor
>magic missile says it can sink USA mighty aircraft carrier >chinks dont even know how the carriers are built >implying it will make it past a single CRAM
OP are you ignoring this cute little toy on these ships or are you just trying to fit the narrative?
Joshua Edwards
spooki
Cameron Roberts
>thinks ballistic missiles are magic >thinks he knows shit about shit
David Young
> 128 miles a second You dumb chink nigger. The atmosphere would vaporize it.
Noah Fisher
Does the (((Czech Republic))) even have a Navy? Lmaooooooo
Jonathan James
The "proper planning" part. Carriers don't go near those things. Intelligence is like 90% of the battle.
>Battle group gets to edge of range where it is still safe >Destroys threats >Moves in >Destroys next biggest threat >Moves in >Destroys everything else
The right threats can overwhelm a battle group but only if you put yourself in a stupid position to begin with.
Asher Jones
He miss typed, ICBM standard speed is 128,000 miles per nanosecond
Jacob Rivera
Mmm well it depends..
Owen Barnes
>mach 600
Oliver Nelson
Oh shit that’s too fast for America
James Perez
>not having an aircraft carrier build out of Pykrete How can we even compete?
Luke Rodriguez
Swarm of small torpedoes underwater as well.
Easton Wood
>implying a 37 year old mini gun is capable of dealing with modern day anti-ship missiles.
Jose Hall
> bullying smaller nations
The DPRK, Iran and others are long overdue for some bullying.
Remember that the population and the might of the USA is that of all of Western Europe and allies combined and then some. So when you bully you bully in the name of the Western civilization and the entire civilized world.
This makes it an obligation to act and lead, not just a right. Feel it!
Kayden Parker
>The only carrier-based plane I know of that can refuel another is the Viking 1, Viking is retired 2, buddy packs on hornets and super hornets is a thing
Josiah Brown
It's true that most "KC" type aircraft operate from land, but even a fiarly small island like wake or diego garcia can host them. and the fact that they're just huge flying gas cans anyway means they have gigantic range. Nothing stops the land based tanker from flying 3000 miles to refuel for a forward carrier based aircraft that operating 500 miles from its carrier, this is in fact what the navy and airforce do co-operatively every day.
Blake Wilson
>They are only effective in bullying smaller nations into aligning themselves with US interests, in a real war scenario against a half competent enemy they will be quickly sunk as they are weak to anti-ship missiles In a real war scenario they wouldn't be travelling alone, but with an entire escort
Israel needs to be bullied until he commits suicide.
Ryder Bailey
>Carriers don't go near those things. They do operate within range of DF-21D. That's why USN has made such a big push on ABM over the last decade and a half. It's why the Aegis ships in the Pacific were first to receive the Aegis ABM upgrade and the SM-3 interceptors. Of course, in an actual outbreak of hostilities they may choose to back off to a further range, which is the main goal of DF-21D anyway. And from then begins the process you described...
Nathaniel Ortiz
Cool comment, Achmed.
> As of 2015, over 1.7 billion or about 23% of the world population are Muslims[9]
Nolan Morris
every nation that is worth something keeps making them so they arent dogshit also when it comes to carriers size matters the bigger the better with drones lasers 3D printers and more i think they will reach their pinacle
Ryder Jenkins
Which is kind of why the Navy went all-in on railguns and combat lasers in the last decade.
