meh thats not entirely correct. Lower class, absolutely, but not Japanese is an arguable issue. The idea of class in Japan is a massive issue which you could write many books on, so I will sidestep it. anyway... When Japan took over Korea, they legit considered them Japanese, not a territory, but part of mainland Japan (much like okinawa). Were viewed as lesser, backwards, and had a hard time getting cushy jobs? Yes, but they were still seen as Japanese, especially after their language was whitewashed. Japan really wanted to implement direct control and make them a central part of the empire (korea would be a launching point. They never offered the same degree of recognition to chinese who tey considered subhuman) Meanwhile Koreans served in the military and were offered the benefits of citizenship (to what was a crazy military regime so obviously they all got drafted). I think when Japan lost korea to the western powers, they were bitter and rejected them as Japanese henceforth, unlike okinawans.
I think if Japan was allowed control Korea still today, it would have been like okinawans.
Japanese views on okinawa:
>they are darker
>they speak so different I cant understand them
>they are lazy, okinawan time
But despite this, noone questions okinawa is Japan and okinawans are Japanese. I think if Japan had kept Korea, they would be viewed the same way, or even higher.
But they split, so there is animosity.
Older houses are seen as used goods so not as valuable. Countryside is massively depopulating, so lots of abandoned houses.
Old people die, noone wants their house in the middle of inaka. So its easy to buy cheap.
Villages than can afford it try to offer incentives to move to the countryside, but its not really helping.
Im a meme job here, and every year the school has less and less students. Its noticeable.
I love it. I live in a central mountain region and love climbing and hot springs so life is fucking tengoku
