LMAO now add in the BAH (basically a second paycheck), the extra pay when you're deployed, and the free benefits (medical, dental, education, child care, etc), being in the military is one of the best jobs you can get as a young person

Benefits are not great. VA is fucking horrible. It took me 7 months to get an initial intake appointment. Loads of soldiers defraud the VA for further benefits which is a big reason why things are so fucked up

That hazard and imminent danger pay is around $200 a month a piece. It's nothing worth getting excited over.

You'd actually make more as a young person working full time as a McDonalds crew member at $8.50 an hour per the hours worked. Your military work shift is 5-5 and sometimes you get watch which is a 24 hour shift.

Also, that training you get in OSUT for infantry or boot is an utter joke. You get a quick overview of how things work and you're shipped off to your unit, which is a huge reality check for a lot of people.

A lot of the shit you learned in basic is tossed out the window and you're treated like shit because that's what the Army does to FNG (Fucking New Guys).

I won't expect any payment for the fighting that I'll be doing for the survival of my own people, and that's why I'll be on the winning side.

lomg hours are only a thing out at sea where there is nothing to do anyways. shore duty is fucking around for six hours a day for three years.
