I think its genuinely kind of weird that people believe that a once evil big green alien is more of a father figure than the biological father who raised, trained, fed, protected, believed in and encouraged Gohan. While its true that Piccolo did train and protect Gohan, this was only for a short while and they developed a close bond, but it was nowhere near the Father/Son bond that people are really forcing to justify.
I think its more of a Uncle/Nephew bond than a full on Father/Son relationship, seriously.
I saw this and
k
>gohan's face
The chromatic aberration is grinding away my eyes, holy fuck. Stop this shitty meme filter once and for all.
That's a mighty strong chin there piccolo.
>I think its more of a Uncle/Nephew bond
Not even that. If you have an Uncle that throws you into the wild to learn to fend for yourself, you have a shitty redneck Uncle.
The fact that Gohan isn't emotionally scarred astounds me.
Yeah considering he could've killed Gohan here
Thinking back on DBZ, it would have been neat if power levels were less bullshit magic so Gohan could have used his book learnin' to gain an edge.
I like the idea of the picture but the art style is fucking weird.
What kind of edge? Just be a more tactical fighter or?
It was a shitty picture already without it, it's even worse with it.
>goku
>doing anything besides being ded and eating
Goku was more of a goofy older brother than a dad.
im pretty bad at magic myself but when i apply science to it i can get an edge to win
thanks doc
Father son thread?
>I think its more of a Uncle/Nephew bond than a full on Father/Son relationship, seriously
It's more of a Doctor/Patient thing. And thanks.
Goku is literally a japanese red neck though.
fanart was a mistake
This. Gohan's been fighting on the frontlines against monsters that can blow up cities or even planets since he was fucking FOUR YEARS OLD. That also happens to be the point where he watches his father get impaled on a beam of light. The year after that, half of his father's friends are murdered by Nappa in front of him. After that, Dende is blown away and Krillin is gruesomely impaled and then later blown to bits. At nine years old he watched his father die a SECOND TIME (and it was his fault). The kid's seen an enormous amount of death, and since he became the strongest being in the world at age 9 I'm surprised that didn't fuck him up too. He'd be able to do whatever he wanted, that's an amount of responsibility that kids that age simply aren't able to handle.
We all know why they are so close user, no need to remind us.
The power of physics
Delete this.
Well he didn't handle it all since apparently all he did was study in those 8 years.
Green and purple is my safe word
Thanks doc
That's what I mean. He was a nine year old. Nine year olds are little shits, they're just at the perfect age where they've learned how to manipulate the world but they haven't learned the maturity to function in society. There could've been incidents all throughout his adolescent years where someone tried to bully him and Gohan punched him into the sun. ESPECIALLY without a father figure present for most of his life. Reminder that that's sometimes all it takes for kids to start gangbanging or hanging out with the 'wrong crowd' especially since he's been so buried in books for so many years he wouldn't have any -- I hate the term, but "street smarts".
He was rough, but Gohan enjoyed it user.
>without a father figure present for most of his life
He had Piccolo, though
>-AH!-
>Green alien dad who doesn't do shit other than sit under a waterfall all day and complain about how God's a pompous asshole
Not a huge improvement.
Is all about the black parts user. Shame he never finished it. New project looks nice though. Gohan is such a whore. I love it. Few things in this world are as sexy as a blue eyed blonde twink with a bubble butt.
Great example setter when it comes to not abusing your powers, though
Piccolo never did shit unless it was fighting threats to the earth
yeah, but you see. goku was a shit dad because he was never around even though 99% of the time, he had a good reason for that.
>1 year - dead after saving Gohan
>1 month on Namek - brutally injured after saving the Earth from Vegeta and Nappa
>1 year - learning a new technique that saved everyones ass several times
>7 years - Died fixing Gohans mistake
Piccolo was wicked fast even back then. He could have intercepted Gohan a split second before hitting the rock; perhaps using a knockout blow to make sure Gohan doesn't get used to being bailed out in dangerous situations.
Technically he was 11. Two years passed from his perspective in the HBTC regardless of the passage of time outside that.
I don't think he would have. The whole point of that part was 'learn to use your powers or the saiyans will kill you anyway when they get here'. If Gohan hadn't nutted up I think Piccolo would've just written him off as a lost cause and gone off to train by himself.
I never thought about Piccolo being a fedora tipper
Maaaaaybe, but, a 1,000+ power level ally is still a very important resource, even if it's unreliable. If nothing else, if Gohan couldn't control his powers, it would have made more sense to throw him at the saiyans like a bomb than at a mountain. If they kill him, whatever, maybe it'll hurt or distract them long enough to hit one with a beam cannon.
But yeah I can see your point, sure. Just saying, I could find a better use for him than killing him outright for failing to be a competent warrior.
Moreso, I think a lot of that was Piccolo bluffing in order to get Gohan into the right mindset. Not because killing Gohan would bother him for being immoral, as much as it'd be a wasted asset. Again, throw him like a bomb or force him to watch the saiyans kill his allies.
based goku, our savior, give thanks to goku whenever you feel happy to be alive
