I think NK is going to somehow implode on itself wayyy before they can find the firepower to drop a bomb on a island or country over 2,000 miles away.

And even if we do go to war with them, there are studies that say they only have enough fire power to last 3 weeks before they just start dropping all their nukes one after another. Its funny that their relentless isolation and basicially early 20th century slavery to their people is going to backfire the hardest if they go to all out war with a superpower.

The thing that gets me, is that they claim to have

I can't wait to see what the final straw if for either side. Whether its US/allied bombers flying too close to North Korean airspace, or if NK miscalculates a missle test and lands somewhere detrimental.

Also an enormous part of China's economy was built to keep up with US demand, and a good % of it too. China is kind of on the fence of both sides, only so because the economy to the US, and to/from NK is crucial in their eyes for some reason.

This is all assuming that all this comes from just 2 ego maniacs who somehow have control of major player countries in a POTENTIAL modern breakout of war, WILL do something about the back and forth rhetoric that has been going on for many months now.

Our hawks would absolutely use a launch towards Guam as justification for some kind of military response, so I do wonder if Korea would ever take that gamble.

If they could've they would've. They can level Seoul any time they want and take most of the Korean peninsula before we could get our strategic assets to bear. Shit, they could take one of their non-ballistic nuclear bombs into Seoul and basically hold it hostage if they wanted. But that would guarantee American response eventually.

At this stage they've taken a major gamble that a nuclear Korea is enough to make the US stand off. If they're right, it's pretty much demonstrated that America is no longer the absolute world hegemon. But I don't know if the world strategic community will allow that.
