So next week's episode (and the rest of the season) is all about how he finds a new body for Yumemi so she can deliver her projections and narration and the new body is a high-end upgrade so that they can fall in love and get married and have cyborg babies and then build a rocket to fly to outer space where there is a thriving human civilization just waiting for someone to tell them about the stars...
That one probably will go into the movie. >next week Dont do this to yourself user.

I don't understand how this guy survived with a broken leg and a dozen drones on his ass.
Alexander Gutierrez
Key magic. It just works.
David Phillips
Too damn sad

Where's the previous thread?
Benjamin Gutierrez
I Searched all over for it before starting this one I think it died because there's no oppai lolis or fujoshit in this Laotian shadow play
Jeremiah Mitchell
More like because the sub is not out yet.
Ayden Gonzalez
For todays episode? They're out if that's what you mean
Ayden Hall
>128EB 128 exabytes that's 1 million terabytes or 1 billion gigabytes that's 100.000 Libraries of Congress worth of information.
Carson Phillips
Episode five? I can't see any sub on Nyaa, only raw.
Brody Lee
It also had a pretty awful spoiler as the OP image, kind of a dick move on OP's part.
Thanks for saving me the search time user, I was just about to look that up.
Ian Kelly
I'm guessing he doesn't mind streaming and it was on kissanime when I checked
Adrian Martin
The VN's pretty old though so by now quite a lot of people know how it ended. I knew how it would end and it was still painful actually watching it.
Isaac Brooks
I watch on a shitty bootleg site. The subs are out. I hardly noticed the low video quality because I was watching through a veil of tears. The ending was spoiled for me weeks ago. I knew what was coming, but not when. I assumed that we'd get an even 6 episodes, so I was kinda surprised that it wrapped up today.
Kayden Phillips
Ah, so HS just haven't ripped it from Funi yet. I'll wait for a download then. Thanks.
Jason Brown
I thought they didn't spend enough time on the battle, which was longer and more dramatic in the VN. Lessened the impact of what happened.
The actual moment of impact[/spoiler[ didn't feel quite as shocking as it should have. I knew it was coming, but the action sequence lacked enough tension to really drive home a gut-punch.
I accidentally opened a spoiler so I knew what to expect. I still managed to read the VN before this episode though, finished it two days ago. Can't wait for it to start raining again when I watch the episode.
Jaxson Taylor
I recall the Junker taking Yumemi out of the Planetarian instead of her offering to escort him.
Am I remembering wrong? Seems like it loses a bit of the theme this way.
Jose King
No, it was the same way in the VN.
Robert Howard
I want more but I know more will just bring sadness

They actually didn't and played much more hopeful music. That was probably my biggest issue with this anime as a whole, the different music just didn't capture the same grim feel as the VN finale.
Aaron Johnson
Just watched it. Decent adaptation as the rest has been, but the music could've been better and they should've just blacked out the screen on the moment of impact. Can't complain though. The flittering of her eyes in and out destroyed me, and the tears of rain was a great touch. Unlike my original playthrough where I was sobbing uncontrollably from start to finish, this version only got me during the part where the junker is describing the world beyond the wall. That's to be expected though when you know what happens.
Nice aftercredits, too. Looking forward to the movie.
also looking forward to the live reactions of the anime-onlys. their tears will fuel my endless hunger

I knew it was coming and it still hurt, why can't there be a happy ending for such a good and well loved girl. Any request for webms, stitches, or transparents? Aye, the machine gun slowly racing up to Yumemi and it actually hitting her doesn't have that much impact or feel powerful enough, a black screen would've been better. >The flittering of her eyes in and out destroyed me That was painful. It's even worse when she was calling out for Junker.
Colton Adams
I honestly didn't feel anything this episode, the way she acts and talks is too robotic for me so I never really considered the "a robot who's so advanced and natural you can't really tell it apart from a real person" trope didn't really work for me. In general for the whole run I only wondered why the guy cared so much about this toaster girl.
I still liked it don't get me wrong, but it lacked a certain impact for me.
Kevin Wright
>the way she acts and talks is too robotic This seems to be a lot of people's complaint. I think it's pretty refreshing, most robot girls we see are just normal human with super intelligence or something.

Maybe we can convince Elon Musk to build a line of cute robutts staffing planetariums. Just tell him something like, "this would totally inspire the next generation of kids to become rocket scientists"

The emotion wasn't in her "death" but rather in how much joy the Junker brought her by visiting the planetarium. Had the Junker not visited then Yumemi would have continued to think that she was broken with some unknown bug with humanity abandoning her and having no-one else to serve. She would have stood out in the rain inviting people in to the planetarium and then the power would have run out and she'd no longer activate again. That would have been much more cruel for Yumemi.
Lincoln Johnson
I think planetariums only show movies now. Nobody cares about the stars.
Ethan Barnes
I really wish they had brought some animators who specialize in character acting for the finale, but oh well.
On an unrelated note, have the BD preorders jumped up again?
Landon Collins
It's almost top 30 BD/DVD on Amazon now. Won't know the Niconico preorder count until it updates in another 6 hours or so.
I think the impact lessens since Ep 4 and Ep 5 are supposed to be watched on the same sitting. Ep 4 contained all the optimism for Yumemi's future after all.
Brody Brown
Wait, so it just skips to him as an old man? What about the 50-odd years in-between that?
Carson Wood
>This is exactly what I was talking about, dumb decisions lead to tragic endings! None of that had to happen if he had just shut her off, hid her away somewhere where no one else could find her, and then took all the time he needed to come back and get her out of the city... But then there would be no story to pull on your heartstrings. Exactly! I'm sorry, but to me stupidity is not entertaining. Maybe you're different.
Nathan Sanchez
Help, I can't stop thinking about Yumemi. Why did such a thing have to happen to such a cute robot? ;_;
Thomas James
theyd care if there were cute robot girls
Eli Brooks
Dub cast was revealed, and it's coming out today.
>Episode 1 debuts on Thursday, August 4 at 12:30PM ET
>Synopsis: For thirty years, companion robot Hoshino Yumemi has patiently waited to show someone the stars. Left in an abandoned planetarium, she sits hoping for customers that will never show. That is, until a Junker—a plunderer of goods and artifacts from the ruins of civilization—stumbles upon the crumbling establishment. Will he help her repair the planetarium, or will she be alone once more?
>Director: Clifford Chapin
>Junker: David Matranga
>Yumemi: Jill Harris
>Manager: Christopher Bevins
>Mikashima: Cris George
>Satomi: Colleen Clinkenbeard
>Older Junker: Kent Williams
Hudson Gomez
Why is this getting a dub?
William Sullivan
My AoTY for now.
Aiden Phillips
It's one of the more popular shows of the season, I guess.
I kinda wish they'd dub the VN, just to see what it would be like.
Elijah Carter
>one of the more popular shows of the season
Wut? I don't think this is that popular. It's nowhere near the level of Re Zero or Amaama or Jojo.
Jeremiah Jones
Hell, it's less popular then literally who LN adaptations like Alderamin.
Jeremiah Miller
Where is this from? It would've been the Junker that would've died if Yumemi hadn't distracted the crab. The fact that the Junker survived with Yumemi's memory is actually quite a hopeful ending compared to what could've happened.
Benjamin Long

It's pretty popular in Japan at least, otherwise it wouldn't be ranking so well.

>Although you say that the countdown sequence lasted much longer in real time but she says that she has about 600 seconds left at 7:22 (442 seconds) in the episode and her power goes out at 18:12 (1092 seconds), making that 650 seconds. So as long as my maths is correct that is about 600 seconds. The part where she said she had 150 seconds left was probably the bit you were unhappy with and you were right about that. At 13:00 (780 seconds) she says she has 150 seconds left, then if you do the maths it took 312 seconds until her power went out, which is definitely not about 150 seconds.

I'm a fucktard for not waiting until night to finish this.

>This series tried to be emotionally manipulative (granted it didn't have enough time to actually develop the characters to the point where they didn't have to just go for pulling unearned tears out of viewers), but it just didn't work on me...at all.
>Every time Yumemi talked throughout this entire series, I was just bored. Nothing she said or did ever interested or surprised me. It was entirely predictable from beginning to end. I really disliked her monotone/robotic voice. I really disliked her loli-face and ancient character design. She has a 128 exobyte memory card, yet her personality isn't capable of real feelings. The only indication of an actual feeling I got from her was when she said she was lonely. But, that's it, and honestly I don't even know if she knows what that means.
>She never even cared at all for the main character beyond his position as a customer. Everything was about protecting the customer, protecting humans, or performing her duties. Never once did she care at all for him as an individual person. It's probably beyond her capacity as a robot to do so. This makes all of their emotional intensity miss the mark at the end of this show, for me.
>Specifically, in this episode, I felt her silent death scene to the spider robot was just a really bad cinematic choice. It was an extremely underwhelming death scene. Then follow that up with your typical "countdown sequence" that lasts much longer in real-time than they're saying it will on-screen.
Austin Ross
>I also don't really understand why the research team had to leave her behind in the first place? Was that ever actually explained? I mean, I can guess that either they weren't prioritizing evacuating non-humans from the city (though they barely seemed like they were in a hurry to get away), so I'd be inclined to believe instead that they felt they just didn't have the battery recharge machinery to sustain her before they got to a new place? BUT THEN AGAIN, why couldn't they just power her down and take her memory card from behind her ear and carry it with them, and put her into a new body? Seems pretty damn cruel to me to just leave her in that situation and not explain to her what was happening.
>But even with that cruelty, I don't really feel for her and her situation. She can't feel, so why should I feel for her? And I don't feel like I learned enough about the Junker to have any emotional sympathy for him either.
>I feel like this probably worked better as a game where you could just kick back and read a ton of text explaining all the backstory (if there actually was more backstory that they cut out of this).
Gabriel Ramirez
fuck off. I'm glad everyone else here don't share your sentiments Go watch Umaru or something, dear god.
Christian Rivera
>She can't feel, so why should I feel for her? Jesus christ

2bh that was bugging me as well. If you're going to say that and then blatantly disregard it then you might as well not say it at all.

That kind of shit never matches up with real time though. I'm pretty surprised they got as close as that user said they did.
I planned on doing the same. I'll put it off as long as possible but I still want a thread to be up so I can come cry about it.
David Collins
Kind of glad it was only 5 episodes because it really caught me off guard and made the ending more emotional. Really hope the movie is good now

This is a real complaint I have. I've tried going to some planetariums and even ones with brand new star projects like the Hayden in NY just show Imax movies of Neil Degrasse Tyson.

not any more or less funny than whites. Just people are more likely to listen to a black person because of white guilt
