The manga did a great job. That which must not be acknowledged barely mishmashed at all and it was poor overall. The DEEN Fate anime mishmashed a bit too, but poorly.
It's not easy, but it can be done. Certainly more plausible than 5 separate series.

Mainly followed the Arc Route, but devoting a fair bit of time to Ciel and Akiha and what you learn about them during their routes. It was well done in my opinion.

I think the problem with that show was that the director wasn't familiar with the source material and decided to add Akiha route stuff when they only have 12 episodes to work with.
The problem with the FSN anime were the two episodes towards the end with Caster using Sakura to summon the grail.

It's the Arc route but Vol. 4 features Ciel and Akiha, Vol. 6 features Ciel and Roa and Vol. 10 features an epilogue with Shiki and Arc reuniting.

The FSN anime was mostly the Fate route, with sprinklings of the other routes thrown in for no fucking reason.
I hope The Fate route gets the movie treatment after Heaven's Feel does, just to have everything looking as good as ufotable had UBW looking.
