As Guts said in the latest chapter, the city is another step on the way. Griffith will most likely do more horrible shit to get greater power, some people say he will offer Falconia's population as a sacrifice, but who knows.

I think his plan is something else. He definitely wants to assume some authority over the God Hand and probably even the Idea of Evil, but killing the world's population (since probably 99% of the world is situated in Falconia).

Guts' acceptance and respect is the the only thing he hasn't gotten. It will probably end in a fight between them. I suspect that griffith will start losing that fight in his human form, and then transform into femto. They will then mortally wound each other, despite guts' berserk armor.

There are a lot of questions about God hands. Like their origin, what are they actually and how did they came into existence. Who was the first God hand etc. So far, Griffith is the only God hand who is actually doing something for his ambition. Others should have their own ambitions and motives as well.

Griffith's ambition could go a few ways.
Remember that Falconia isn't really all that big in the grand scheme of things, so Griffith might try to take a whole country to himself somehow.
