I haven't read or watched Higurashi since 2010. Why did the Dam Project cause so much chaos and bloodshed, again? It's just a dam.

A dam what?

Because they'll literally go insane and die if they move from Hinamizawa.

buikding the dam would have resulted in the people having to move out whenevwr a resident of hinamizawa leaves for an extended period of time they go insane

HNNNNG that nostalgia strike

I'm about 4 hours into the VN right now. Is that how the characters actually used to look?

I don't recognize this because I played the MangaGamer version.

Indeed, this was how Ryukishi drew the characters in the original 2002-2006 version.

if the dam was built the whole village would be underwater

heck, that kind of ruins any spooky aspect it would seem.

>That art
How did this garbage got popular again?

The proper way to play Higurashi :
-Original sprites
-Original musics
-Playing it in summer
-In a region with lots of cicadas

Clearly the art doesn't matter all that much to a lots of works that don't have it as a main selling point.

You can't compare touhou to a VN.
Touhou has actual gameplay and it started like 6-10 years before higurashi according to this post so the standards where different back then.

Well sure and art plays a far bigger role in Higurashi than it does in Touhou but my point was that it isn't the reason that people play either.

Because in Japan, people are more interested in a good story than artwork and were willing to give Ryukishi a decent amount of respect for the guts it took to release a game with art like that.

My girlfriend told me the fourth VN is the best of the eight.

Because it was a dam. If you have any more dam questions, I have your dam answers.

Epic anime.

The series was very highly regarded and loved well before the anime; it made waves with the first game in August 2002 and was always one of the most anticipated products at future Comikets.

>It's just a dam.

You see in this real life as well. People who have lived in an area irrespective of whether they have ancestral roots there or simply been living there for many decades do not like being uprooted or forcibly removed.
