I'd argue that anime has more explosions than swords in general, because there's also sci-fi settings, and explosions aren't uncommon even in sword/fighting anime.

takes too much budget. it's very hard to make it right, especially if you don't make it in pure cg.
with that much money you can literally make 20 times as long content of cute girls blushing, sells even better.
