I can handle a character dying. I was a Kennyfag and I made peace with his death, but Erwin's death is beyond fucked up. He was pointlessly dragged there for the sake of drama and he never accomplished his dream despite that being a huge part of his character and likability. What Isayama did is cruel not only to Erwin but his fans as well.

I didn't even care about him that much but his death was awful. Levi's change of heart also felt out of nowhere. I feel like everyone's characterization was really wonky this chapter, not to mention the suspension of disbelief totally destroyed.

I also liked the parallel to Marco's death, now I understand why Bert looking back at Marco got so much focus. I didn't like Bert but this was an awful death.

Exacly, Reiner always seemed like the mosr suicidal one and the one most likely to sacrifice his life for the cause while Bert ran away in fear.
Come to think of it, in that Marcel flashback, Bert appears to be running away while Reiner reaches out his hand to him. I guess this is also karma.
The one time Bert doesn't run away, he dies.

You think this chapter painted EMA as "white"? When Eren holds Bert in his arms like he's just a piece of meat to be fed to his best friend? When Mikasa almost kills two of her superiors just for her childhood friend? Where Armin turns into a titan and consumes another human being? This is "white" to you?

The only thing that felt that way is Bert getting his deserved death, but the again he was made to be sympathetic including during his final moments, he was cowering in fear in expectations that someone would save him, and then the realization in his eyes that no one would be reaching out his arm to him. And what's worse, oto rub even more salt on the wound, we see his head getting squeezed between Armin's teeth, if anything that scene's purpose was to convey a feeling of pity out of the readers.
