Solar energy is just a limp-wristed faggot version of nuclear energy.

Nuclear.

Harness the power of the soul

Whatever the market determines to be the cheapest

A nigger in the field.

Human power. Yoking negroes to the plow.

China wants to make solar alone 10% of their energy imput by 2020

>a lie

fusion, but until that works the 4th generation nuclear power

Nuclear is the only way to go.

What the fuck do you think the sun is? It's a perpetual nuclear reaction. Solar energy is just trying to collect the scraps of dissipated energy whilst also ruining the environment with high-maintenance and barely effective solar panels.
Nuclear power plants not only provide greater energy output than you would by leeching off sunlight but it also makes the cost of energy dirt-cheap.

Gay hippy faggot.

youtube.com/watch?v=Zbgul1NpEA8

Nuclear all the way up, it can be used anywhere (not like water or wind energy) it's more clean than others (carbon and oil) and its subproducts are more useful than the products of other kind of energies.
It's the most balanced and useful of all energies we know, it must be used far more.

nuclear and thorium

The good news: we only need 30 million wind turbines to supply energy to the planet.
The bad news: it only works if they are planted in the ocean. We don't really know how to go about this.

Slave labour

Human labor, just nazis riding bikes forever

Nuclear, of course.

Yes lets take up the space in the ocean with 30 million gay wind turbines that could easily be washed away during a mild storm in an attempt to appear environmentally friendly without any consideration for the ecology and marine life whatsoever.

hydro electric, geo thermal and to a limited extent, solar.

I like dam aesthetics.

>Meheeco

Fusion
Edmonton mayor candidate wants to build a fusion reactor outside the city and I'm all for that
At the very least it explodes and i get to live in Canadian Chernobyl

probably a combination of everything.. no one power source can work efficiently in all geographical locations.. We just need to improve the safety, we need to improve the efficiency and put massive pressure on the industry to constantly be researching less wasteful practices.

>Standing on the largest nuclear fissile reactor in the GALAXY pushing 13,000 Zettajoules of energy a year and no one bothers with geothermal energy

Humanity deserves to fucking die i swear

>and no one bothers with geothermal energy
You know that isn't true.

In my opinion geothermal energy gets heavily used in places where it’s easy to excess, like island isn't it?

Thermal boreholes.

hydro is the ultimate energy source

is everyone in this thread a shill ?
are you all christians ?
or are you all just retarded ?
wait, Are you all having bants ?

Solar is the only logical way....
You see the sun ? yeah... its not going anywhere for a billion years.
Lets use it to power our shit.

Molten salt Thorium reactors

>literally 0.2% of the energy used by humans

that's nothing

This

solar energy is the future you retards

nuclear energy is way better right now on a mass scale only because our solar technology is still very enifficient

the best solar panels money can buy are about 15% efficient
as in they can only utilize about 15% of the energy from the sun available

if we could get solar panel technology to only 50% efficiency we'll be able to run all modern cities on solar panels

though im also a big fan of geothermal energy
only thing better than solar/geothermal energy would be cold fusion or anti-matter generators or Zero Point Modules or shit like that but even then solar panels would be better for general use and things like anti-matter would only be needed for powering space ships

pic related.
solar is the future

That chart is wildly inaccurate

thats great, except for the countries where the sun all but disappears in the winter..

main source of eletric power here in Brasil

Fusion.

BECAUSE THE TECHNOLOGY ISN'T READY YET

JUST BECAUSE STUPID LIBERAL HIPPIES LOVE THEIR SOLAR SO MUCH DOESN'T MEAN ITS BAD

listen you faggot as soon as the technology is perfected solar panel is the ultimate source of energy
as long as we have stars to power them we'll never run out of energy and for daily usage like powering a home or a car solar panels would be the ideal
stop memeing you autists
SOLAR ENERGY IS PERFECTION

Fusion long term
Fission or thorium short

Bonus, casimir-polder for space travel

Solar energy is miserably inefficient. California has gone balls deep into it as well as windmill energy and they still require 50% of their energy to be subsidized by out-of-state sources in Arizona, Nevada and Oregon even still after having regular in-state power plants.

You'd basically have to cut down all the trees and replace them with solar panel farms but then you're just harming the environment and atmosphere even more cause solar panels don't emit oxygen like plants do.

What if someone dont have itaipus?

"Although the official communique does not mention the proposed date for first plasma, it is widely acknowledged to be 2025."

fast reactors only work for Russia really, China is struggling to run one , most others either got regualted out of existance or cost too much to maintain compared to normal nuclear power. Without the whole setup in place including fuel it's just not worth it.

50% efficient solar panels would still be able to get enough energy during the day to power small towns through the night

and assuming batteries are equally advanced they'll be able to store up energy during the summer

though if we're talking about big cities i suppose you're right that they would need other sources of energy like geothermal
however solar is still the best for most of the earth

but you bring up a good point that it won't be very effective in powering our space colonies that are far away from the sun or blocked by planets

Here is more: youtube.com/watch?v=2Y2CBJIp2j8

Thorium based nuclear or fusion when we can do it.

It depends where you live. Obviously fossil fuels and nuclear power are useless. By 2100 they won't even know what that stuff was, plastics will be in the archaeological record and nowhere else.

>50 years from now this will be looked at as some primitive precursor to modern house sized fusion reactors
hopefully

Oil is still needed for build anything
without oil we:
>can't build nuclear power plant & mine uranium
>can't mine materials for solar panels
>can't build water dam
>can't even mine fucking copper

Why not more of this?
Mirrors heat water, steam, turbine, power.
No rare earth metals needed, no expensive manufacturing, no arrays of batteries, takes as much space, if not less, as a solar panel plant.

>tfw we've been looking right at the solution to the energy crisis every morning of our entire lives

Cease being a culture of wasteful faggots that cant live without the energy equivalent of 20 slaves working for you hand to foot every hour of the day

This is what happened to a solar farm in Puerto Rico. Is solar the biggest meme yet?

What are you talking about?

Solar is now the cheapest form of energy.

Abundant energy is the source of all our problems.

What happened to ultra user?

>puerto rico

Nuclear is THE only sustainable source of energy.

>Nuclear
>Dangerous

It's actually statistically one of the safest energy sources. Nuclear disasters are not only blown way out of proportion, but they're also very rare.

Bioreactors

kill yourself you fucking retard

>never ever make profit

why never?

what the fuck does "technology being perfected" mean? as soon as the gas-powered engine is "perfected" to have perfect fuel efficiency, then we won't even need fuel and energy will be infinate

you're retarded, end yourself. the argument "it will be good when it's perfect" doesn't hold

This is what happens when you stop thinking and just start watching other people do the thinking for you. Idiot.

Hydro
kinetic
gravitational
nuclear
etc
Just not finite resources. Solar energy just isn't good enough and we're not good enough.
Solar energy isn't so much a scam as it just isn't good and will never be good. But they dont realize that

this whole entire post you just made is possible the least intelligent thing i have ever written

holy shit you must have to really try hard to actually type something so stupid

when someone says "perfected" in reference to technology they mean that it gets to a point that it does what we want it to do with little downsides it doesn't mean make it PERFECT you imbecile

>as soon as the gas-powered engine is "perfected" to have perfect fuel efficiency, then we won't even need fuel and energy will be infinate
holy shit
you realize that if it doesn't use gas that... IT ISN'T A GAS-POWERED ENGINE ANYMORE RIGHT?

please never talk to anyone about science, technology, politics, philosophy, or history ever again

question for nuclearfags. as it stands, uranium and other fissible material is a scarce resource. why would you want to rely on other countries for your power?

>never be good

why never?

witnessed dammit*

>worried about wasting copper
>pennies are made of copper
Hmm who could possibly be worried about lost pennies

>as soon as the gas-powered engine is "perfected" to have perfect fuel efficiency, then we won't even need fuel and energy will be infinate

no such thing as 100%. 2nd law of thermo

with 4th generation nuclear generators usage timespan could be extended over more than thousand years
but the bong is right

coal or oil
the problem isnt the fuel
its the sheer amount being used

we need less people on earth

most of our modern problems would be solved with less people

>with 4th generation nuclear generators usage timespan could be extended over more than thousand years

doesn't that make it more valuable? wars would be fought to control the resource

>but no let's build expensive and dangerous nuclear power plants instead so we can have another meltdown like all the times in the past.
>literally "MUH CHERNOBYL"
Nuclear is the safest and most efficient source of energy on the planet. The plants pay for themselves and if breeder reactors become a thing then nuclear waste becomes a thing of the past.

Not true
We need less chinks, poos and nigs

Geothermal
>dig down
>find hot rock
>pour water on hot rock
>steam come up
>use steam to turn turbine
>make power

what else would you use copper for?
pennies?
>as a canadian i laugh at the thought of pennies

>the argument "it will be good when it's perfect" doesn't hold

What he is trying to say is when solar energy technology is capable of capturing all the solar energy that is in-falling on the Earth's surface, across the electromagnetic frequency. Although he is too stupid to actually know this.

For example, solar panels are incapable of collecting infrared radiation from the Sun, which means 50% of the energy isn't being turned into electricity right off the bat. Another 30% is lost due to various technological inefficiencies, but can be improved in time.

good point
though alot of 'people' still need to go

Nuclear.

so why don't you?

ladies first
>sorry i assumed your gender

the redistribution is the problem
200 years ago, people were more evenly redistributed across a continent like Europe for example. Nowadays everyone has to live in a big city and has to take the plane every month it some destination.

Oil Gas and Coal.

Cheap
Safe
Clean
we are never going to run out.
Is found everywhere.
and is easily exploitable.

come at me

/thread

Yes and no. For example the plutonium cycle works with plutonium and depleted uranium. Both are at the moment waste products in our power plants that need to be stored. Of all enriched uranium we produce 99 times more depleted uranium is produced as waste.

>we are never going to run out
Probably not in our lifetimes, but oil and other fossil fuels are a non renewable resource. We will run out eventually.

>For example the plutonium cycle works with plutonium and depleted uranium.

is it currently in production or just theory?

Solar.

money
There's a reason geothermal isn't very popular, not a lot of places are ideal for geothermal. Places like Iceland use it because they sit right on a few hotspots. Same reason why wind power is popular in some areas, and not so popular in others. Average wind in some areas are stronger, and weaker in others.

I live 2 km away from a shitty old French nuclear plant from the 70s. The French ate fucking assholes. The plant gas monthly critical incidences and yet the French refuse to shut it down.
Fuck nuclear energy

Thorium, most underused clean energy alternative.
