Just started reading this manga yesterday. It's fucking amazing even though I understand none of the shogi stuff. Couldn't think of a better studio than SHAFT to adapt this and the designs certainly look on point for a SHAFT anime. Hopefully they don't SHAFT the anime too much and achieve a healthy balance like that cooking anime last year whose name I've forgotten.

Kinda sad that there won't be any fight scenes. SHAFT is probably the best studio when it comes to fight choreography and animation in general. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if they animated everything in 5s for extra fluidity.
